Im shocked that i googled him, and there doesn't seem to be any news about him at all... i guess basketball just didn't work out at all... haha did anyone even give him a look this year??

I wouldn't be surprised to see him pop up overseas somewhere. Don't feel too bad for him, he did make about $1.8 million for his two years sitting on the bench.

he put the work in on his body, but his bball IQ was soooooooooooooooooooo low i wonder if he'll ever make it at a high level.

seemed like a nice kid though so i wish him the best.

I am still amazed at the ineptitude of our coaching staff in bringing our young guys along. Noone can say that a good staff couldn't have used a guy who averaged 5.5 blocks a game in limited minutes and limited situations until he flipped the switch or finished out his cheap contract. WS was willing to work but he needed someone to work with him and he was ignored for 2 years and then people talk about his bad attitude like someone who sees their career being flushed on them should be happy about it.

Could he have done better sure but its also the job of the staff to make him want to do better and to put him in positions to do what he can. He had a strength use him for it. Hope he gets a shot somewhere but his game is limited so much and to such a small role its unlikely.

Whiteside was one of the top 3 physical specimens in the draft, but still fell to the second round. Teams thought he didn't have the mental capacity to be a professional athlete, and looks like they were right.

He's not going to get another chance until he proves himself in a another league.

I'm not sure you can lay this one on the coaching staff, he worked pretty closely with Clifford Ray who has been cited as a cause for improvement in the game of JT and Cuz. The fact of the matter is he was lost in all aspects of the game IMO.

And that includes summer league where he was wretched.

Yeah, maybe he would have got it eventually but this is business. We move on.

this one isnt on the coaching staff. Whiteside thinks he's better than he is. His attitude during summer league was the last straw.

Someone would have scooped him up by now if that was the case. We gave him a chance and a paycheck.. he didn't make it happen. This is all on Hassan.

I watched Whiteside play at Marshall quite a bit, and I predicted he wasn't ready for the NBA. His first mistake was coming out after just one year. His limited minutes by the way, were 26 minutes a game. His one area of expertise was blocking shots, and it pretty much ended there. He was a black hole on offense. If the ball went in to him the likelyhood of it ever coming out again was slim and none. He had a whooping 10 whole assists for the entire season.

I liked Hassan as a person. He genuinely wanted to be a good player. Unfortunately that want didn't translate into enough hard work. I won't comment on the Kings coaching staff, but they did hire Clifford Ray, who is a very good big man coach. Ultimately, its up to the player to improve himself. Its up to the team to create a climate in which to do that. No coaching staff prohibits a player from coming early, or staying late to practice. This year I went to summer league with high expectations from Hassan, and I was very very disappointed in his performance. I wasn't shocked when he was cut. I wish him no ill will, and all the luck in the world. I think playing in europe would do him a world of good, and just might wake him up to what he needs to do succeed in the NBA.

Whiteside has pretty much no chance of getting minutes with even a half-decent team in Europe, given the way he plays. European teams are all about IQ. If he wants minutes he'll need to go to China or some very poor team in Europe.
