Nope. Its kind of like astrology -- parts of it always looks right and you go whoa! But then most of its does not.

Simple trick really -- pick common personality traits, also pick ways that people like to see themselves, then mix n match. You'll just about always hit something.

Naw...although for that very reason (learning the secrets) I actually learned a few card tricks back in my college days -- kind of out of practice but I could probably still palm a card if I had to to win a bet. ;)

There was this one guy on cable a few years back, New Yorker referred to himself as a "street magician"...forget his name, but damn he was slick. Normally I at least know the process the magician is using, even if he's good enough I can't see it. But this guy...had to go look him up on google to figure out how the heck he was doing it. :)

David Blaine is awesome. He's quickly becoming more popular than Copperfield. His magic is on a smaller scale comparitively as he performs on the streets and has a lot of fun with the people he's performing for. He is also more believable imo, because his magic isn't computerized like Copperfield's. The craziest thing I saw him do was levitate right there on the streets in front an audience.

Yeah, the levitation thing is just an optical illusion, but its a lot of fun. :)

As someone who knows just enough to know I don't know anything though, what always gets me is his ability to just walk up to somebody on the street in a short sleeved t-shirt and do something impossible -- pick a card, any card, and it appears in their back pocket or some such. Dude is FAST. Could probably pull off a panty raid in a convent. :p

I agree. It's really his approach to it which is unusual, performing on the streets as if he was performing for nickels and dimes. His showmanship rather than method is really the key to his success. And everybody loves watching the reaction of others, which is shown quite a bit, even more so than the actual magic. The reason reality TV has taken over commercial TV.

Yeah, David Blaine is something...But that trick special of "Frozen in time", in New York Town Square, that was just illusion!

There was a special segment in cable here about the secrets of magic revealed, and it says that trick was using a man with a face just like him, so he can rest and sleep in the secret underground door...He was like how many days in that frozen in time trick?

But that trick of card, when he fold the card, then make the card from the center go up! It was amazing....street magic is cool!
