I guess what he said, but mainly I need to be convinced that he isn't taking away minutes that wouldn't be more effective going to any combination of Donte, Cisco or Casspi.
Well yes, but if I said that first then I'd just be branded a Kevin hater, and I guess we could just trade them instead though it would be a lot harder to get anything good at their salaries. Kev's salary also enters the equation, I know everyone thinks he is a "bargain" but he makes more than that ginormous contract everyone has spent the past 5 years complaining about. That's right, but its only half the equation. He needs to use those minutes more effectively than those guys AND compliment the team better than what we could get for him.
simple, WIN.
If the team is better with him then without him then he's less likely to be traded. If all of a sudden Tyreke drops off and Donte, Casspi, etc are getting way less minutes and being less effective then we've got a problem.
Bingo.
Simmons noted that Danny Ainge told him before the draft that Evans was the second best player in the draft, and that the Celtics had tried to make a trade with the Thunder to move up to the second spot to grab Evans. Suspossedly even Rondo was mentioned in the deal.
I listened to the BS report on ESPN with Bill Simmons and Chad Ford today. They both think Martin will be traded before the trade deadline. Bear in mind that its just their opinons. Ford has heard rumors of Martin for Jefferson, which he thinks is a crazy move for Minny, but knowing Khan, he wouldn't be surprised. Simmons agreed with him saying that anytime you trade a good big man for a good small man, you just lost. Both agreed that the last thing the Wolves needed was a high scoring SG that can't play defense. But that it would be entertaining.
By the way, both said that they were shocked how well the Kings were playing. And both said they were wrong about Tyreke. Obviously everybody is waiting to see how Kevin will fit in while others want him traded regardless. I know its the front office and GP's decision but if you were the GM... answer topic question ^.
Even those guys know what Martin should obviously do to avoid getting traded.I listened to the BS report on ESPN with Bill Simmons and Chad Ford today. Huh.
Though presumably they tried to make a deal with the Grizzlies if they wanted to move up to #2.
Thank you, Hasheem, for being 7'3" and looking like a better player than Rondo!

I found that statement interesting, just in that that has to be a judgment on Kevin himself, because if ANY team in the league needed a Kevin, it would be precisely the Wolves. They have no SGs/SFs at all. Their best is Corey Brewer, who is averaging 12ppg on 40% shooting. The others are Ryan Gomes and Damien Wilkens. They are just about the worst outside shooting team in the league, 3rd from the bottom in 3pt %. So to come on a show and say that the last thing the Wolves need is Kevin, is pretty much saying the last thing anybody needs is Kevin.
