So, not what I'm listening TO, but what I'm listening WITH...
I just bought a pair of Tozo open ear-ring headphones and they're a revelation for me. Both over-the-ear headphones and earbuds begin to cause physical pain to my ear after about 30 minutes to an hour due to the physical pressure of the over-the-ear headphones pressing against my ear and the earbuds never fitting well in my concha.
These little babies are nice and small and nestle in there, then clip around the back of the ear. I can wear them for hours and it's like they're not even on, they're just night-and-day more comfortable for me. For anybody who has earbud/headphone comfort issues, these are definitely worth a try! Obviously there are other brands with this same open ear-ring style, I got the Tozo because of good reviews and a mid-level price point to balance between overpaying for professional stuff and buying junk.
Here’s a post of what might I want to try listening to. Being 62, most of my groups and acts I’ve listened to are either retired or near the end or passed away. I do listen to a decent range of music but not really into rap, country, jazz or blues although I do enjoy some of the songs from those genres. My listening sweet spot is Rush, Pink Floyd/David Gilmour, Springsteen, U2, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, RHCP’s, lately some No Doubt, and then a lot of samples from many other 80’s and 90’s acts.
Do any of you have any current acts who might be similar to any of these acts or in this genre?

Interesting. I'll keep these in mind. Thankfully, over the ear headphones don't really bother me. The in-ear versions aren't painful but often don't fit well for some reason. I use them when taking short walks on my own, but I'm often re-adjusting. This may be a future solution if I want to try something better.

I generally like wired better than wireless for in-ear. I have a pair of the wireless Apple EarPods I got as a gift and they're OK, I generally like wired versions better. I also like a wired keyboard and mouse - sue me.
When I'm watching movies on my iPad, etc., I use the SoundCore Life Q20+ wireless headphones and REALLY like them. Link:

They sound GREAT with good bass response, have noise-cancelling, and are SUPER soft and comfortable. One nice thing is that if the batteries (which last FOREVER - like 40-60 hours) ever do run low (and mine have never run low even charging infrequently), you can plug them into your device and they work like wired headphones! That's a very nice feature in case you need it. They are only like $70 on Amazon last I checked - for me they are also in that price-performance sweet spot. One of the best purchases I've made in a LONG time.

While my last 2 years in particular have been pretty concert-heavy (9 each year) I've got 4 lined up this year so far:

The first and last are my choices, the middle two are my wife's (but I am excited to see Melissa Etheridge again - she was fantastic last July). I'm trying to catch some of these older groups that have been around and may be reaching the end of their run.
It seems like most groups in my "wheelhouse" are not coming around this year, so probably a "down" year for us on live music overall.

Any similarities to the above so I "know what I'm getting into" with that concert?I tend to prefer the rockers and the electronica/Depeche Mode type concerts. Pop/country and country is also fine - as you can tell - and we've been to see quite a few of those recently as well. The worst of the bunch above were probably Motley Crue, ZZ Top, and the Beach Boys (primarily due to age/decline of the singers - for a couple the audio setup also didn't help any). Mellencamp was the best in that concert, surprisingly, but I really just wanted to catch the legend of Willie Nelson while he was still around. Nickel Creek is one of my wife's favorites - that was her choice for an overnight anniversary trip last year (not quite my thing, but that's fine). Pentatonix is also all her. All the rest sounded from pretty good to GREAT (Def Leppard, Scorpions, Joan Jett, Melissa Etheridge, and Sting in particular for pretty rocking shows).

Shania comes pretty close to what you might expect from her, but even then, Shania is quite different in her own right.I'm sure I'll like her stuff. I just don't know any of it right now.
Shania is more country, whereas you will see and hear a lot more pop influence in Kelsea's songs and performances.

My wife and I are of an age where we don't really need "things" - unless something breaks.
We're looking for more things to do instead of more things to buy for birthdays, etc., but given the number of Amazon boxes in our garage I don't know that we're being successful in that area.

Hadn’t sat down with a Kendrick Lamar project since To Pimp a Butterfly was one of my daughter’s First 50 albums a few years ago.
Now in the matter of months I’ve listened to:
- GNX
- Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show
- Chronological retrospective of the Drake feud
- good kid, m.A.A.d city
- DAMN.
- Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
- To Pimp a Butterfly again.
I’m certainly no expert, but I’m struggling to understand how anyone would think they could beat this man in a rap feud.

Did they call it The CPR Tour?
Well, Anne Wilson was in a wheelchair but that was due to a broken arm from a fall, and not the cancer she was battling when the concert was postponed from December of last year...you might not be far off.

The concert was actually pretty good. I don't know her stuff, so I wasn't singing along, but she was very entertaining, sounded great, interacted with the crowd (we even sang happy birthday to her best friend via Facetime in the middle of the concert), and the staging, etc., was very well done. I also really enjoyed one of the openers, The Japanese House. Here's a few songs in a mini-concert.
I'd like to see Radiohead live at some point in my lifetime but my past experience has been that their tickets sell out in microseconds making it almost impossible to obtain a pair without taking out a loan.
Huh. I saw them either two or three times in the late '90s/ early '00s without any real difficulty getting tickets, but I suppose that was before the days of web bots grabbing everything up immediately. Of course, the thing I remember most about Radiohead concerts is that their (at the time) house opener band Supergrass was WAY better in the studio than they were live.

Well that’s a Let Down, but honestly No Surprises there and while I might have to do some Electioneering and maybe even get a little Lucky, I’m willing to become The Tourist that travels like some Subterranean Homesick Alien, because I’m a Paranoid Android breathing into an Airbag worried I’ll never get to see the band live in my lifetime and have been Climbing Up the Walls for the chance to be a little Fitter Happier and cash in some Karma. Police are gonna have to carry me away to the Exit …

Hmm, good point. I suppose I could stand to be a little more Optimistic.
Yeah, it's almost certainly a timing thing. They weren't really a band that I cared about until around 2003, just before 'Hail to the Thief' came out, and I was a poor college student then so I had to pick and choose where to spend money. By 2007 I was fully obsessed with The National and Dinosaur Jr. instead and their tickets were infinitely easier to obtain. Plus we had YouTube by then so I have seen hours and hours of Radiohead live shows, just not while standing in the same room. I'm satisfied with my choices -- though I wish I'd been clued in earlier about wearing ear plugs for the J Mascis "wall of Marshalls" experience.
And I do believe that was a hallmark of the late 90s / early 2000s -- bands which really had no business playing live but sounded slick and professional with a record producer and unlimited time to tinker in a recording studio.
Got back from London. TJ and I had plans to spend 10 days over Spring Break but were unfortunately robbed of the first few days due to the fire that wiped out the airport service on Friday. We finally arrived on Monday just in time to see the MFing Sex Pistols (sans Johnny Lydon but with a very game Frank Carter in his stead).
Also took TJ to see one of my favorite musicals there Operation Mincemeat. It is in the middle of a Broadway run with all or at least most of the original cast (who also wrote the thing). It's brilliant, very British. If you're in NY over the next 2-3 months don't miss it if you can, or be sure to see it in London since most of the other big shows there right now tour the States anyways.
