What are the Kings saying now?

My wife watched Karl yesterday and almost barfed. That said, he started out OK but one answer struck me, well several, and that had to do with people being disappointed in the season. He mentioned everyone but himself and the fans. Not sure about "fans." Granted my perception is that he will take no account for anything but does this one silly answer mean he doesn't care?

I am being mean.

He was asked why the team didn't meat expectatons. He said that was a question for when the season was over. Crap.

Cousins seems gun shy as well he should. He's under a microscope. The question was asked in many ways if either he or the rest of the team were giving up. He ducked it nicely. He also said a lot of people are frustrated about losing and there was extra stuff this season. Lots of extra stuff. The media chat was cut short when the questions were heading towards Cousins' trade talks. Someone off camera essentialy said bye bye folks and the camera clicked off.
I hope Cuz doesn't read the media or listen to the media.

Omri should be a politician. I don't think he was candid but I can't blame him. He said the FO and such had some problems to solve. This may just be my impression but it seemed like he was downplaying player and coach problems and kicking it up stairs. That puzzled me as Boogie said the comment about "extra stuff" and they could have been in agreement that there were problems with the FO.

That's a guess, folks, but as a forum we have said that problems "upstairs" so to speak weren't a problem. Somebody give me an opinion.

Okay, it seems like more players are speaking out. Might as well have one place to post the clips. :)

VIDEO: George Karl on approach to Kings rotations in remaining games, Cousins' comments http://www.abc10.com/sports/nba/sacramento-kings/karl-on-cousins-comments-remaining-kings-season/82565187…

Somebody want to watch it and give a summary? I don't dare. I can't afford to buy a new computer right now. :p

Not word for word. But the gist.

"First half was whatever. Lack of energy. Lack of defense. Second half was about how hard we fought. Had energy, just missing some shots. What happens when you get a big hole, it's the little things that bite you in the butt when you're trying to get over the hump."

On playing younger players and rotating to develop since we're out of the race "We're not going to weaken our opportunity to win. Talked to Willie. Talked to Seth. But I think Willie and Seth will get more minutes."

On players not playing as hard now "When you're losing there's always that concern. Players want answers. They want the magic to come back to their offense/defense. In a tough stage right now."

How frustrating is this season? "That's an answer for May. When it's over. Our job is to stay in the process. Be a professional. Work harder. Yeah it's been a frustrating season for everybody. But today is a new day."

Have you talked to Cousins? "I have not talked to Cuz yet. It is a process. For me. It will happen. I'm not going to be on a daily timetable on answering when it happens. And when it happens I'm not going to tell you what happened."

Are you surprised about what Cousins said after the game? "I don't read the papers so I don't know what he said. -Hears summary of what he said- That's a question for Vlade. I think Vlade has the truth."

On the overall season "This is an issue that every team goes through. Some issues don't last as long ours have and we would like ours not to be as long. But it happens"

I think it was his manager. Vlade has a lot of work ahead of him :(

I miss the days where social media wasn't as big as it has grown to become. Too much news, too many different angles. I don't even know what or who to believe anymore. Everyone has their own side to a story.

I think what he has shown this year, Casspi is a "Any-coach" kind of guy. He plays hard even During slumps, doesn't pout in the media. He knows his calling card is that he'll play hard regardless of his shot falling or not, because talent alone won't keep him in the league. I think this would qualify under what @VF21 would say.

He gave McHale a lot of credit for turning his career around and extending what he could do in the past.

NOTE: Another thread has been created for the sub-topic that took over this thread. :)

Does anyone have any theory as to what Boogie and Casspi were referring to about "other things" that seemed to be an organizational problem. The "organizational problem" interpretation is my guess. As much as we like to focus on Boogie and Karl, I caught a few references to something else. Perhaps they were talking about these minority owners but it seems strange and just plain wrong that players would know about squabbles in the ownership. Of course Shaq might babble anything.

- The disconnect between Vivek and the minority ownership

- the perceived meddling of Vivek which has indeed happened in the past and still very well may be

- the disconnect between players and coaching which is the main issue at hand but can't be resolved successfully until the other points have been adressed

- the politics of being involved in the front office at a disfunctional organisation

Probably. Certainly some of that is true. The ownership problems shouldn't be a player's distraction but it's been in the media, for heaven's sake. This is crazy.

yep true, but its in the media and becomes forefront of mind for our players when its clear that the ownership battle is impacting on the court whereby we were ready to move forward without Karl but more or less didn't have sign off and hence why we are where we are now.

Thats what in a nutshell the players are referring to. We need to fix all that stuff at the top so we can function as an organization.

Vlade is a players guy - in all honestly it wouldn't surprise me if he played that card and suggested that his hands were tied in relation to keeping Karl. He may have made promises for the summer in that we'll sort it out or he may have just left it at that. At the end of the day day It is clear the players have his respect and understand somewhat the dynamics of the role he has.

Maybe they have a substandard airplane to travel on.

Cousins is pretty well spoken and even contemplative in the interview. It is obvious that he is an emotional player and cares about his team mates and especially winning. Those are all positive things that do not really show up on the floor. Now if he can just control his outbursts when he gets frustrated.....
