I didn't watch the game, too many other personal chores to do. But judging from what I saw on the newswires and the comments here..maybe it's a good thing I didn't see tonight's game.
I would type in more, but it was a long, tiring day at the office and at home, so I'll chip in with my opinons tomorrow...after I'm more refreshed and have some caffeine in my system.
But for now, I'm still proud of my Monarchs. They fought 'til the very end of this game, and didn't roll over.
They say that championships are built during the off-season, so I'm already thinking what the M's should do in TDOS. It may be an off-season for the players, but the Monarchs front office (as well as the league office) knows that there really is no such a thing as an "off-season". Lots of things to be concerned about:
* The WNBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement expires at the end of this season.
* The possibility of a compacted schedule for next season, complicated by next year's Summer Olympics.
* If the WNBA expands (Colorado, Atlanta, and maybe Kansas City) next season, how would an expansion draft affect our M's? And which players should we keep, and which ones should be left unprotected?
* Will the WNBA All-Star Game finally move out West?
* Will the Seattle Storm be the Oklahoma City [fill nickname here] in 2008?
* Who should the Monarchs go after in the college draft?
* What will the WNBA office do about the returnees of overseas players coming just before the regular season starts, and completely missing the pre-season training camp? [I know this topic has been brought up before, either here or on other boards.]
Oh, well, have a good overseas season, ladies.
