What about Corliss?

What about Corliss as the kings ast coach? I know he is coaching at ark but?? I think it would be nice to have him and bobby as asts.

Corliss is quite happy doing what he's doing. We don't need to have everyone from the past be part of the future. Well, except for Vlade, of course. We really should get him back.

:)

He might make a good one, and if he ever does jump, Sacto would be a possible destination, although normally assistants are picked by the head coaches, not the franchise. But before he retired it seemed he was aiming more at the college market, although that first year job was just pathetic (basically a JC), and really just more of a hobby I think.

Co-sign ;) I think I remember Corliss saying he was interested in the college game.

if the kings were so intent on him being a kings lifer, they would have ponied up the dough, however stupid, to retain one of the most well liked and prominent face of our kings in the sacramento era. i dotn remember exact numbers, but we offered 2 million a year for 2 years? lakers said 2 years at 5 mil each.

result? vlade is now a euro scout for the lakers, and nothing with us. i wouldnt count on vlade coming back after that lowball offer. he had nothing left in the tank, but if you had plans for keeping a guy after his playing days, you dont insult him with what was obviously a below market offering.

Insult? Below market? He played 15 games for the Lakers for those two years and was paid 6.9mil. The Kings had just finished paying him 60million and made the correct personnel decision to let him walk. They didn't owe him anything. IMO I always thought it was a mild slap in the face Vlade went on to work for the Lakers. Its not THAT big of a deal, and I'd like to have him back, but I couldn't believe that at the time.

You might want to read up on your Vlade lore:

1. Vlade couldn't be a Kings lifer, since he played for two teams before coming to Sacramento.

2. Vlade isn't a Euro scout for the Lakers. Hasn't been for a while. He was working closely with RealMadrid, but is now devoting most of his time to his charities.

3. Vlade wasn't insulted. In fact, he still returns to Sacramento on occasion. He just doesn't make a big deal about it.

I'd love to see Vlade back here one day, which is why I made my comment. I don't think he'll do it, but not because of any lingering resentment. I just think his priorities are with his charitable organizations.
