What A Freakin Game!!!!

That got way too intense in the end for me! lol, but I loved it nonetheless! Once Ticha and K Law made those three's...MAN!!!! What a win. Now all we need to do is get some Monarchs fans out to Anaheim! ROAD TRIP!

BEAT LA?

LA BEATEN!

That was a game that stole your breath away, and stilled your beating heart. THIS is true "infinite intensity", as Ron Artest describes it!

Wanna bet it's going to be a very quiet plane ride home for one team tonight?

The Monarchs played 3 crappy quarters, but in the 4th qtr, when it really counted, they played with the heart of a champion, and came back from 9 down to steal the victory.

Now, there were 2 mojo keys to this victory.

#1. 1kingzfan was in the house and his perfect record of Monarchs winning when he is in attendance is still intact. :D

#2. Luv13fan and I were invited down to sit in Monarchs' row 2 for the 4th qtr. We took are mojo down to the court with us.......and the rest is history. :p

Oh, and btw, the Monarchs played smothering defense, particularly in the last 3-4 minutes, and we all know that...

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!

What incredible intensity in the gym tonight in that final period!

Although Ticha and Kara had the 3-daggers, and Yo the clincher at the very end, Nicole turned this game around. When the Monarchs looked late in the 3rd like they were going to drift out of contention, Nicole kept them in it with 7 points in a very short span.

Sitting there in the gym tonight was going through another one of those big game roller coaster rides. 9-0 start, then impatience and poor decisionmaking all the way through the point where LA went up by 9 late in the 3rd. That was a long painful stretch of poor execution on O.

Then Ms. Powell saved us by finally doing her thing.

I thought my 18-game in-person streak was going down tonight late in the 3rd, but the ladies came through...19-0.

Props to Whiz for going counter to his typical rotational strategy, and playing the starters heavy minutes, when he saw the bench was stinking it up tonight. Amazingly, Dorrell was the only sub to score tonight (3 pts).

And what's up with Mabika kicking our butt in the 3rd, then all of a sudden her teammates stop passing her the ball?

Did anyone else there and sitting behind the LA bench notice that the assistants really run the show and not Mr. Bean? Kobe got him that job.

Finally, we saw tonight that no matter how stifling your D is (and the M's played D very well throughout tonite, except when the subs got on the floor all together), if you can't put it in the hole from the field and/or the line, you are likely to lose. 38% FG and 53% FT really should not have gotten the job done. The basketball gods smiled down on our team tonight.

But our grit and hustle (all 5 starters had 5 or more boards) was just barely enough...plus our ladies finding the range from the outside when it counted.

All in all, a great entertainment experience well worth the investment. It's too bad more guys do not get into the WNBA game.

That WAS freakin' entertainment....almost a little too much for me. Somehow in the span of a week or so Mr. 4Play and my mode of communication has entered the advanced hi-tech age. After having he and my having had an IM conversation he busts out with text messages to me during the first and 2nd quarters all of a sudden. (Shall we go to video conferencing next this weekend D? :p) Which put at a total of 4 txt conversations I was trying to have during this game tonight.

BTW Mr. 4Play asks that I extend his best wishes to all his peeps here. He was as p'd off as we were with the play in the first half and how we had essentially squandered what should have been a 10 pt lead at the half. He also was as worn out afterwards as we were. I drank post game for both of us ;)

If Nikki P wants to show up for only one half of a game this season, I'll take that. Geezus. It's been a while since we saw that.

Ticha, Kara and Yo...thank you! Y'all hit shots that needed to be hit down the stretch.

Ladies....let's get back down to the business at hand...you need to defend your Western Conference Champions title first. Let's do that on Saturday and do it by playing a helluva lot better brand of basketball than you did the first half tonight. Find your inner dominant defending champion, and let's do this @ the Pond, no need to extend this ANY FURTHER.

Nancgo...thank you for the first We Run This sign @ ARCO.

Yes, folks...Monarchs Playoffs 2006...WE RUN THIS!!!

Sparks don't want it 'cause Monarchs Run It!!

Now lets all get a Rooter's bus going and have a road trip to Anaheim (if that was ever an option...I'd be on that bus in a heartbeat haha)! like Kara said...it's really not the Sparks' home...so....we shall invade!!! Surprisingly Kara's comment about that pissed off some Sparks fans. I guess they were just bitter cause we beat them in the end.

Sparks fans need to stop hatin' and put up or shut up and pack the Pond themselves. We bet' not show up with more fans than they have in Anaheim or they will look stupid trippin' over Kara's post game chat with us.

Awesome game. I woke my neighbor up screaming with Tichas shot and then Kara's.

What a fighting spirit the starters have. Im sure by the end they were dead tired but fought and fought till the end. Ticha, Kara picked it up when it mattered and Nicole kept us in it.

Sparks fans are not happy to say the least im sure.:D

Well, as I said before, I still had many questions after the first round, so it was extremely gratifying to have the Monarchs win while playing ugly; I knew that there was no chance of them averaging 92ppg throughout the playoffs, so it was quite pleasing to see them shoot a poor percentage and turn the ball over a ton, and still fight their way to a win. That makes me feel much more optimistic about the rest of the playoffs.

So you say; I've gone to the chat room every game that I didn't have class all season, but you just stopped showing up...

My roomate and i are both male (age 20) and have been season ticket holders since last year. I get a lot of crap for being a huge monarchs fan and all i have to say to the haters is "go see them play live and tell me you dont like womens basketball."

I love those girls desire...and being a diehard kings fan its definetely nice to have a team you root for win it all! :D

Not to mention that for a family, you can get twice as much winning action for less than a fifth of the price you pay for Kings tickets. What family can afford to take their kids to a Kings game, sit close enough to really see the action, and still pay the bills.

Nice.

I totally agree.

Only guys that are "basketball purists" are WNBA fans.

Indeed, I'm a 32 year old male and this is my 3rd year as a season ticket holder.

Some of my coworkers give me guff about being a Monarchs fan and I tell them, "seeing a game live will completely change your perception." I've explained to them how entertaining the games are and how great the atmosphere is, but of course none of them have taken me up on my offer. Their loss.

Since I travel to Arco from San Francisco, I have to leave work early to try and make it to Arco by 7:00. I often get the, "I can't believe you're leaving early just to see a women's basketball game!" line. I simply reply, "It's a heck of a lot more fun than sticking around here and writing code with you geeks." That usually shuts them up. :D

As far as Thursday night's game goes, that was a straight up gutsy win. I was so pumped to see Powell bring it like we all knew she could.

yea that is what i always tell people...for those who really appreciate basketball the way its supposed to be played (athough it may be under the rim) its still as exciting, if not more, than most NBA games..

(excluding game three of last years first round...im happy to say that i was there for that one! :D )

That's true...seeing a game live will completely get you hooked. I've been a Monarchs fan for a while, but ARCO's/Sac is two...three hours from where I live, and gas isn't cheap these days! But once I went to my first game...that was it...I wanted to go to all the other ones afterwards! I SO WISH I WAS AT THURSDAY'S GAME!!!!! I was going to go, but plans changed last minute  But you win some you lose some! Can't complain too much, still got to watch the game on the net...which still sucks cause it buffers! but hey I still got to watch em win.

I was occupied for various reasons during those games. I had to listen to the game with my headphones.

Reina was the only one id see. And we both couldnt talk .
