We've made an offer to Monta?

This. The paid professionals clearly have a very different view of Tyreke then some of us on this site have. Pretty sure the Pelicans are gonna play him at the three as well... might be the general view the league has of him. Monta is a 2/1... Reke might be more of a 3/2.
I don't care if we call Reke a 5. Anyone that had problems with Reke as a ball dominant player that missed bad shots is going to weep watching Ellis play.

well he gets a lot more assists than our starting PG last season (IT)
I have been as critical of IT as anyone for not being the PG many seem to think he is, but would still rather have him running the point over Ellis. Don't get me wrong, there is no doubt that Ellis is a far superior player to IT, but he is a SG. Much like AI, he gets most of his assists when he has no choice but to pass the ball. And of course there are open players because he was being guarded by 3 or more players.

I hope we get him and run him at the point (most likely) and the season becomes a success just to see the look on some of your faces.

Monta Ellis, PG:

FGA/48min 2012-13
M Ellis 22.4 (8th in NBA)
R Gay 22.4
JR Smith 22.4
Crawford 21.9
Cousins 21.7
Harden 21.5
Thornton 21.5

He did that while shooting .416.

in 2011-12 it was 23.5 FGA/48. On .433 shooting. 10th in league.

in 2010-11 it was 24.0 FGA/48 on .451. 7th in league.

in 2009-10 it was 25.5 FGA/48 on .449. 4th in league. This BTW was the year when everybody here whined about Tyreke shooting too much as a rookie. Tyreke took 20.9 FGA/48 that year, on .458.

Cousins is gonna flat out kill this guy. And I'll support him when he lays him out. Sometimes things just need to be done. More realistically if you ever worried about Cousins going through the season disgusted and pouting because of his asinine teammates, this is the guy to come down and chuck up random 1 on 3 jumpers to do it.

Chris B. From ESPN Says THornton
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9463611/monta-ellis-pares-list-four-suitors

Broussard reported recently that Ellis has cut down his list of potential destinations to the Kings, Mavericks, Hawks and Bobcats. Each club would need to make moves to create the space to sign him; Sacramento, according to Broussard, is looking to move guard Marcus Thornton to create the space. Thornton would have to be traded with little to no salary coming back.

Dallas has reached agreement on a two-year, $5-million plus deal with free agent guard Wayne Ellington

Well, this may take Dallas out of the running for Monta......lucky US !!! Ol' Monta is quickly (VERY QUICKLY) running out of suitors and will eventually land in Sac because of mere attrition....jeeeeeez.

When he signs, we need to vote on this. I'm voting for Monta Elli. Embrace him Brick. He's going to be a Sacramento Kings.
Never. :p

If these Golden State dips hire him, we're going to hide him in the basement like Uncle Fester. I feel nothing but pity for all the long suffering Sacto ex-pats living outside of Sacramento who are going to have to continue to endure taunting over this. There are literally polls/threads in forums dedicated to every team in the "hunt" begging their front offices not to do it.

Boo. Monta at 12M may be the worst kings transaction in the past twenty years, especially when you take into account the other moves made plus the repeated emphasis on the new culture of character, defense and teamwork.

Yeah, not sure I've ever seen this before. Check out the fan pages for each of the interested teams and they are all begging their fo's not to sign him. While we may "just be fans", there is a reason for this reaction.

The ONLY, ONLY, ONLY way I don't vomit Spicy V-8 through my nose is if the way he's brought in is through dumping contracts (Hayes, Jimmer, Thornton, Outlaw, etc.). Otherwise, throwing good money/salary cap at him is not well spent.....OR if it's a short-term deal. ONLY ways it's even remotely palatable, period.

We could send Hayes, jimmer and outlaw for him and I'd still be opposed. He's a cancerous player that hogs the ball, fights with teammates, doesn't defend and wants to always be the man. Can't think of a worse add to this rebuilding roster.

Unfortunately I think we better get used to it, I sure think he's gonna be a King. His other options are literally drying up.

I did just read that he's fourth in the league in steals.

(I'm really stretching for ANYTHING positive here.)

Take this for what it's worth. Some kid on Twitter claims to have spoken to Chris Mullin today:

Jonathan Hihi ‏@jonathanhihi 59m
... Also asked if Kings are gonna sign Monta. Says if he takes 8-9 million, yes. Anything else no.

May just be hopeful, but figured I'd post...lol

That would make a lot more sense to all of us laymen I think, lol.

That stuff doesn't matter. He's a talented dude, that's not the question.

His personality, attitude, whole philosophy for the game is the issue. he is everything this front office lied to us about wanting to change. He's undisciplined, selfish, talks about himself in the 3rd person, and feels it is his god given right to throw up any shot at any time off his own dribble, because he's Monta Ellli', and he got it all!

And yes in a taste of things to come, haranguing a kid like Reke for years for being "selfish" and then trying to pivot around and back a player like Monta Ellis is pathetic. But yes, we come from the Golden State Warriors -- sure, the Warriors only made the playoffs ONE time in 17 years before last season, but we got the answers and our old personnel is better than your current personnel. Yep. Yep.

Even though I agree with MOST of what you say, Brick, I still keep going back to thinking we COULD be watching what the Sonics are doing this offseason, so I try to reserve judgment myself. As we all know, it could be WAY, WAY worse.
