From Artest's mouth this morning in Indiana it's being reported that he never said he would not report, and he never said he didn't approve the trade. I was telling this to a lot of co workers this morning. It was starting to sound like his agent was doing a lot of bs'ing, and it's coming out he has. I hope Artest's last act of violence is to whoop his agents *** on the way out of town.

The agent has a huge stake in Ron's future. I'm sure his agent would have preferred that he go to a big market like LA or NY so that there would be more exposure for Ron, perhaps more endorsements (who would endorse him I'm not sure) and allow him to more readily pursue interests outside of basketball. All of this adds up to more money for Ron, which in turn is more money and exposure for his agent. I'm sure that his agent was the one calling the shots and doing all he could to get Ron on board with his thinking. This happens all the time and I don't think that this is any different. His agent had an agenda and was trying to do what he thought was in the best interest of his client....getting him to a bigger market than Sac.

The way I understand it is that if he refuses to report Indy can cease paying him and it all winds up in the courts. But if he says "I'll report but I won't like it and will immediately request a trade"... (which makes having him here playing with that attitude obviously counter-productive and raises a huge red flag for us and our future). Essentially he was saying he'd show up but it would be under protest and don't count on him to buy into what we're doing.

I agree completely as would anyone with any real senses about them. However, agents typically believe that they can get whatever they want no matter how far they have to take things. They believe that they have 100% control of every situation like this between a team and a player and that's simply not the case. Just look at the whole TO thing with Philly. Rosenhaus stretched that relationship to the limit and Philly didn't budge. Now, Philly has given Rosenhaus permission to work out a trade. The same thing happened here. Ron's agent thought that he could handcuff the Pacers and get them to do what he wanted them to do and that didn't happen.DeAtHrOw said:

I'm not saying that this is what he has said today. (part of the problem...his multiple quotes yesterday vs. today and reported by whom). I'm just saying that how he responds to this trade offer has huge legal ramifications since he is contractually obligated for three more years without a trade veto. By refusing to accept the deal he would be breaking his contract but by saying yesterday that he would immediately ask for a trade upon coming to the Kings he has effectively negated the trade since the Kings would be paying for his full services, not half hearted efforts. That's why Indy wanted to talk to him today to have him clarify his position. He has to take the stance that he will report and play hard, as he has today, or else he's breached his contract and will not be paid. But saying it doesn't make it so. That's why the Maloofs want to talk to him, to gauge his sincerity.

But all that stuff about him not wanting to come here, or wanting a trade immediately was coming from his agent, who now looks like a big liar.

And, let's not forget that agents are paid for numerous services including, potentially, covering for a client who's about to blunder away a big contract for both of them by saying something on the spur of the moment that effectively kills a legal transaction and has multiple ramifications...it's not like playground ball where you choose up sides and only play with whom you want to play with if and when you want to.

basically he said that peja should stop *****ing... he asked to be a leader..he was the reason for webber leaving..he is down 8 ppg down 6% fg percentage..and that he asked to be traded..and that he should have been ready for this. He also said that he shouldnt of said what he did about being "disrespected" because that just tangled things up more.
