Hi! User Name Aurora. I just registered on your forum. I moved to Sacramento in June 2008 by looking at a map of the United States, putting pins in every city that had an NBA team and then considering the weather and the proximity to my family. It came down to Orlando, San Francisco and Sacramento. So...
the NBA is a HUGE priority in my life. I've been a Pistons fan for five years and a very active member of their forum and so I decided after going to five games at the Arco Arena that it was time to try to find a forum to support my new home team.
About my new home team. I like it. And just for the record, I read in the Phoenix game thread people talking about alot of booing. I was at the game in the lower bowl and I didn't hear booing. The fans I've seen at every game have been INCREDIBLY patient with this team IMO. They were still cheering heartily when we were 30 points behind the Suns. So...I dunno. I think when you are a diehard fan of a team sometimes you lose the perspective that a more casual fan still has. I'm a casual fan of this team. I think they have some nice pieces. I enjoy watching them struggle to put the pieces together. Truthfully though, sometimes they bore me. Except for Tyreke. They sure are relief from the season the Pistons are having though!
In general I'm not a super partisan fan. Every year I choose six teams to follow, I get League Pass, I run two fantasy teams and I try to watch as much of the League as I can. There are teams I love to hate: San Antonio and Miami and LeBron (it's a Pistons thing!). This year I'm following: Phoenix Suns, Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz, Pistons, Philadelphia (Iverson must see...always...), Golden State, and my new home team Sacramento.
I've been to see Sacramento play Memphis, Philadelphia, Denver, Golden State, and Phoenix so far. I think it's a pretty great fan base. People have been very friendly considering I'm usually rooting for both teams in some complicated way that involves also singling out extra cheers for players on my fantasy teams. Last game I had Tyreke on both fantasy teams and Amare on one of them and Robin Lopez on the other. It was a little confusing to the older man next to me that had a hat with opening night Kings pins from 20 years of seasons! But we talked it out and then he was just fine!
Well, long introduction. But my sister said "Hon, you're in Sacramento now. You've got to make the jump off that Detroit forum and get to know someone who is into the Kings for crying out loud!"
I've enjoyed what I've read so far, especially the heated debate about the lineups, the starters vs the bench. Very interesting and will help my viewing when I go to see the Celtics game coming up Feb. 16.
