Welcome Maxime Raynaud

Totally agree with this sentiment, and is an example of someone I would want my kids to emulate; however, I think the question is whether he has enough of a nasty streak in him, or if he'll get pushed around in the NBA. I preface, I know nothing about college basketball anymore, but physicality seemed to be the knock against him in college. Will be very interesting to see how he competes in summer league.

Potentially, but this is a guy who averaged over 10 rebounds last season and 9.4 the year before. 18.1% TRB as a college player. That would be 13th in the NBA last season. For reference, Domas as the best rebounder in basketball was at 22.2% TRB last year. And he's a guy that primarily plays around the perimeter on O

I dont think this is a soft kid at all. I'd be a lot more worried if he were a 5 REB guy

I saw somewhere reddit/bluesky(?) that he was asked not to go for blocks or do too much on defense at Stanford to stay out of foul trouble. Maybe he gets into the NBA and is given a different assignment and runs with it.
He has said so himself in several interviews. He was given more of a green light is the last 10 games of the season or so and his shotblocking skyrocketed.

This guy’s the only summer league guy I remotely want to watch tomorrow.
Really? I got my eyes on a ton of dudes

Carter and nique and what the ball handling distribution looks like
Raynaud and Cardwell and can Raynaud play with another big?
How have IJones and Icraw developed?
What's our new two-way PG, Isaiah Steven's look like?

Certainly our most fun summer league team on awhile

I'm really interested to see how Carter performs in summer league. I'm assuming they will have him playing the point for at least some of the games. If he can prove to be at least steady at the point, show that his three point shot is clicking, and that he can efficiently finish on his drives to the rim, it would go a long way for me to get comfortable with him as a long term answer on this team. He's got all of the intangibles, but I still worry about him as an offensive contributor.

Are you kidding.

1) I want to see if Carter can run the point.
2) I want to see Nique struggle at the 3 so I can tell half the board I told you so 😉
3) I want to see if Max is more a stretch 4 or a 5.

At this point I am way more interested in Summer League than the guaranteed play-in team we will see in the regular season.

Yeah, not entirely sure WHY Sacramento was such a destination for him (close to Stanford?), but hey. We take it
Sacramento promised a guaranteed NBA contract with better money and hence he dropped to us. The second round has become like a free agency nowadays as being picked doesn't guarantee a NBA contract for the player. The agents work out deals with teams and ensure they get drafted at the right spot.

The problem is that we've gotten so good at identifying who the great talents are going to be by the age of 18 (e.g. LeBron, Wemby at #1; Kobe, Giannis late lotto) that it becomes easy to believe that nobody really slips through that freshman net. The game becomes "draft them before they're fully ready or somebody else will". And that in turn leads to the thinking "by age 22 all the good ones are gone". It's not true, but there's a reason that fallacy exists and is compelling. Even though one might specifically acknowledge it isn't true when pressed, that fallacy still has the power to draw you in when you're not guarding against it.
Yeah i never understood people getting all excited about a team with 4 or 5 19 year olds as it that guarantees any sort of meaningful development will take place. Outside of an organization knowing what they’re doing or not, does the player care enough to get better? Give me the hardworking talents, not just the potential talent.

Simply being healthy for the first time and actually experiencing a summer league + training camp will be huge for Carter. I can’t wait to see how his small bits of experience help him this year
