Mobley: "Chris saw me open across the court. That was big of him to look over here instead of taking the shot. He trusted me, which says a lot for this team."

Webber: "I just love playing with people who want to compete. I just love the people who have good energy because they make me better. And he has that great energy, hustle and desire. He's funny. On the court, just being able to converse with somebody like that when you are missing or playing bad, it kind of keeps you focused on having fun and doing what's right."

i really dig this quote. its funny, cuz webber is now contradicting what he said at the beginning of the season. he said that the kings werent gonna be playing around so much anymore, and that it was time to get serious. but im glad that he isnt taking himself so seriously, cuz he's backing up the things he said at the beginning of this season with his play, and thats how he needs to do it. the kings can still have fun and win. i love nothing better than to see a) my favorite team win and b) see them have a good time while doing it. that chemistry, as overrated as some people think it is, is really gonna help the kings come playoff time, when all ya got is each other. in the regular season, ya can make excuses. when the playoffs roll around, it takes a TEAM effort, both to celebrate victory, and swallow defeat. the kings have tasted a bit of both, and have always been there for each other to share in it. this chemistry i speak of will make victory that much sweeter when the time comes.

go kings

Not really a condradiction, although I'll admit Webb never really makes himself that clear ever. But I think he's saying that it's fun to play with guys that love to compete, and I don't think that goes against what he said over the summer at all.

I agree with LP that there's no contraction at all. The main part of Webber's quote IMHO is the first part:

"I just love playing with people who want to compete. I just love the people who have good energy because they make me better."
That is the important part of the quote. The rest is, I believe, just Webber's way of saying that Cat is already fitting right in with the rest of the team.

It's sure obvious that the rest of the starters are pretty happy about Cat and how his game is fitting into the team dynamics. And if they're happy and able to step it up a level, I'm ecstatic.

I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!

Maybe he can pass the ball as good as DC.
Providing more and more 3-point shoots assists Kings to win every important game!
Welcome to Sacramento. Mobley!

You know, I don't remember Christie being a great passer before he came to Sac. But by the time he left he had become the flashiest, second to C-Webb.

In the Kings system I think players can discover passing ability nobody thought they had simply because it hadn't been demanded of them. Who was it that said when they first started practicing here they were getting hit in the head with passes they weren't expecting?

Before long I'm sure Mobley will be wowing everyone with his assists. And boy, it sure is nice to have a shooting guard that can really shoot.
No disrespect to Doug, he's still worlds ahead of Nick the Brick...

And speaking of Webb and Cat, they made the front page of nba.com tonight:

Just thought it was a good picture, maybe avatar-worthy, although it does look like Cat is getting felt up.

Am I the only one that pictures a montage of them skipping down the beach to the tune of "Happy Together" by The Turtles?

Yeah, thought so.

Hey, watch the insults toward the Brick... ;)

BTW, Doug was a GREAT passer before coming to the Kings. He actually ran the point for a while up in Toronto and had his two highest assist seasons up there in the late 90's. Came out of college asa potential PG too -- one of those first generation "next Magics" when everybody over 6'5" who could pass was being tagged as a superstar (Steve Smith, Penny etc. etc.).

Anyway, it's good to see Cat playing within the Kings system and not try to force anything. Cool... :)

Happy Together works but I'm thinking "My Best Friend" by Jefferson Airplane might work, too.

Mobley's jersey number is #3??

No, that's my favorite number... :)
He got the number in honor of his friend Steve Francis who is #3 on the Magic. He even wears the armband like he does. Pretty close knit guys. :)
