Can you think of a team worst than us? Atlanta? NO, not this year. Memphis? NO..atleast they have offense. Sixers? No, they'll win games in that eastern conference. Charlotte? They have talent with all those top draft picks the last 3 years. I hate to say it but we are a really big mess this year and it will only get worse. We can't score, can't pass, can't defend or even make a damn open layup.

I'm afraid that when (or if) we get Artest or Bibby back, we will be better than the following:

Minneapolis
Vancouver
Chinese national team
Aborigini national team
Washington Generals*

Disclaimer: Most teams above do not actually exist.

*Those guys get paid to lose, otherwise I'd take 'em off the list.:D

Yep, things are bad, but I'm not in panic mode after only 2 games and a good chance we'll be 0-3 in 24 hours. I just made a prediction the Kings will be around 5-8 (hopefully:confused:) by the end of Nov in another thread. When you're missing your 2 best players I don't care what NBA team you are - you're going to struggle big time. 82 games is a long-long season and it's only fair to evaluate the Kings after about 25 games or so.

Circle Tuesday and that home opener vs. Seattle. If anybody actually shows up at Arco, might be about as loud of a home crowd as this team is going to get, and the Sonics by all rights should be one of the two worst teams in the West (maybe the league). These have been humiliating losses. You want to break that up fairly soon, even if its at home against a bad opponent. If it builds fault lines can appear early.

For the morbidly curious, here are our averages so far.

(The less bad)
Salmons: 18 pts (51.7% shooting), 5 reb, 7.5 asst, 3 TO, 0 stl, 1 blk, 36.5 min
Martin: 20 pts (44.4% shooting), 2 reb, 1.5 asst, 1.5 TO, 1.5 stl, .5 blk, 40 min
Garcia: 13.5 pts (48.0% shooting), 6 reb, 2.5 asst, 1.5 TO, 1.5 stl, .5 blk, 29.5 min
Miller: 12.5 pts (48.0% shooting), 4 reb, 1.5 asst, 1 TO, 1.5 stl, 0 blk, 31 min
Watkins: 4 pts (40.0% shooting), 3 reb, 0 asst, 1 TO, 0 stl, .5 blk, 12.5 min
Douby: 6 pts (35.3% shooting), 2.5 reb, 1.5 asst, 2 TO, .5 stl, 0 blk, 23 min

(The more bad)
Moore: 5 pts (28.6% shooting), 3.5 reb, 1 asst, .5 TO, .5 stl, 0 blk, 22 min
Greene: 1 pts (25.0% shooting), 1 reb, 1 asst, 2 TO, .5 stl, 0 blk, 16 min
SAR: 3 pts (14.3% shooting), 3.5 reb, 1 asst, 0 TO, .5 stl, 0 blk, 16 min
KT: 0 pts (0/3 shooting), 3 reb, .5 asst, .5 TO, 0 stl, 0 blk, 13 min

The only players who are totally sucking are our veteran bigs and Greene. Douby's kind of marginal. The rest of the team is only moderately sucking, if at all. If the coaching staff play their cards right, by the time Beno arrives and Justin, Ron and Mike are back, we could have risen to the level of below average. Maybe not in time to get 35 wins or anything, but still... we won't be the worst team during February-April.

Seattle: A team missing their 2 best players in Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis - well sort of. Now it's all on "one star," rook Kevin Durant . Plus, we beat 'em during pre-season. I'll be at the home opener, but so far I haven't been motivated to make a cool sign which I did for nearly every home game last year and in most past seasons. Will be wearing my powder blue #24 Kings jersey, but no grocery sack over my head - yet:p

We're not so great but it's super early still. Heck, Suns coulda lost by 30+ tonight at home if Lakers hadn't let up. Bad nights happen. In our case it'll prob be more than a few early on...

We're better than Minnesota...But they're young and have upside.

When we play the Sonics Durant will have 45 points and Collison will explode for 20/20 like he did against Pheonix the other year.

Seems like we will have either Rose, OJ or Beasley pretty soon .... I am excited .. sort of ...

i'd be happy to take rose :) lets start next season already!! :D

it's only 2 games guys. only 80 more agonizing games left for this season. this season won't be lost as long as the coaching team is developing the kids.

You forgot the Jamaican Bobsled Team. Although I must admit, it would be a close match.

I don't know if you watched the Seattle vs. Phoenix game on TNT but Seattle almost won that game and had a nine point lead at one point. Chris Wilcox is going to kill us, and Durant and Green are going to have a field day on us.

We don't have a right to say we're better than any other NBA team (and be taken seriously). And, yes, it's early. But you don't need more time before you know if it'll live or not.

This team is pathetic. I'd be happy to have the worst record in the league (and a good chance in the lottery) if we had a roster of young athletes and studs who just needed experience and time to get better.

Our Kings are a true disgrace. The front line is just a laughingstock, it is ludicrous. Add up the lines for Miller, Thomas, Moore, SAR, Watkins. This is the most pitiful band of scrub bigs maybe in history.

Good Lord if it wasn't for the terrific rebounding by Salmons and Garcia we'd really be hurting lol

Mikki Moore should be the explanation for the replacement of Geoff Petrie. Worst off-season move by any team.

I'll be there Tuesday rooting for a competitive game - I still think the season can be fun and maybe the worse it gets early on, the better it will get for the long haul if we go into true rebuilding mode.

I do want Geoff to be shown the door though. I believe he is incompetent. He put this together... this worst team in the NBA.

The Sonics are playing competitive basketball. They look hecka-better (as my nephew would say) than the Kings.

Theus is already talking about the team "not giving up." It took Muss more than half the season before anybody on the team even talked about the subject. Theus is in for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnng year.

I was just thinking about posting a poll about the same topic. IMHO, yes, we are the worst team in the NBA. Right now, I would place the under-over for total wins on the season at about 23. Anyone disagree?

I think we'll get 5 wins in Nov. and few more in Dec. Once Artest gets back, Beno stabilizes the point, and Hawes gets going things will improve - simple logic says that. Then when Bibby returns shortly after the first of the year things get even better. Of course, if Bibby or Artest are traded at some point maybe 23 wins is all to expect with probably the worst record in the league leading to the #1 pick. Maybe GP makes a trade or two that brings in some unexpected talent while dumping cap baggage. I think a few more to as many as 30 wins is not out of the question. I guess I'm back to glass half-full scenarios.

I keep thinking of the high draft pick we are going to get and hope we can land someone that will bring back the excitement.

Not necessarily.

I just have not seen anything to support that kind of optimism. The team as constructed has nothing going for it at all. Artest and Bibby returning are not going to turn Miller, KT, SAR, Moore and Watkins into anything more than they are. And with that kind of talent on the front line, we are well and truly doomed and will struggle for 20 wins.

I never thought I'd say it, but I wish we had picked up Gooden for Bibby after all. Gooden would be like Hakeem compared to the crap we have up front now.

Not necessarily.

Absolutely. GP isn't going to trade Bibby and Ron for no talent in return. I suspect the reason they haven't been traded is because other teams think they have us over a barrel and are unwilling to offer equal talent in return.

Of course not but the addition of Bibby, Ron and Hawes means these other guys are not as important to the team and can slide down the bench.

come on.

You still gotta let two of the following on the court at any point in time:

Brad
KT
SAR
Moore
Hawes
Watkins
Williams

so ok bring Hawes back and you are still bleeding ... badly.... hopelessly.

That's half your roster listed above. How do you feel about that?

It's half the roster but that doesn't mean it has to play. It already has been suggested that Ron play the 4 sometimes. It seems an upgrade if the big positions are shared by Ron, Brad, and Hawes with 5-10 minutes from any of the others.

Adelman had essentially the same crew (shift a few bodies) and they made the post season. Nothing is hopeless although if you wish to see it that way, that's OK. I just don't see it that way.

There still comes the possiblity of small ball which cannot happen now.

Just wondering who I offended with my post on this thread - that it got deleted? I attacked no one personally. I used no vulgar language.
The subject of the thread: We are the worst team in the NBA!
My 2 cents: Yes, we are pathetic. It would be easier to tolerate if we had a team full of young players with potential.
Was my analogous reference to a 'stillborn baby' offensive to someone? If it was, let me say that I was not trying to be inflammatory. I thought I was making the point that the lack of ability of this roster is clearly apparent, and that we don't need to give it more time before passing judgment (as some have suggested).
If using this particular analogy is out-of-bounds, please send me a private message and I will try to be more sensitive with my analogies in the future.
Thank you.
