Watching Kings Games - ongoing questions, comments and complaints

Jer

G-League
I wanted to make this thread for the posters here that don't have traditional access to Kings games and generally have to resort to poor quality, illegitimate video feeds to get their Kings fix during game days.

New this year is NBA League Pass Broadband, a service that allows you to stream any game (and two others in a sidebar) on your computer.

This service is free until November 11th, at which point you have to pay $100 for the full season. (Purchasing before the expiration date will run you $85)

The link is at http://www.nba.com/leaguepass/online.html. Sign up for an All-Access account, click on Sign Up in the free preview box to link your new account, and then click the Launch button under "Returning Customers" during the game to watch.

Hope this helps some people that have previously been relying on crappy feeds, as there's finally a legit way to watch online. :)

Please keep in mind that this is the ONLY legal method sanctioned by KingsFans.com; discussion of any other method is prohibited.

This brings up an important note:

You cannot request or post links to non-authorized feeds of games. And by "nonauthorized" we mean anything not officially santioned through NBA.com

To clarify, this includes asking people to send you a PM that contains an illegal link. We don't condone it and we won't allow it.

To further clarify, any posts addressing or requesting such will be removed, and any repeated posts will be grounds for infractions.

did anyone try this? how does it look? how does it run?

I tried it and it worked pretty good using my old laptop computer. It is actually much better than watching the game on local telecast, because you have the option to check the players' stats while the game is being played.

Moreover, you can watch their archive of games ( which includes games of the past 2 days ) over and over again, if you missed watching the live game.

Just follow Jer's instruction above. It is realy pretty easy to sign up and get started. All you need is a valid email and you're ready to go.

BTW, thanks a lot to JER.

Awesome, glad it worked for you and that you were happy with it :) It really is a pretty great service and I'll probably wind up buying the whole shebang for the rest of the season.

I tried to watch the Kings v. Wolves game this way and it was "blacked out". There were a few games that ended up "blacked out" so I ended up watching the Rockets v. Grizzlies. ???? Is this common with league pass that there would be a "black out". Does it have to do with local ticket sales?

Edit: I clicked on the link right now to see if the archive was available and it still says "this game is not available to view due to blackout restrictions" Of the 15 archived games, 10 of them are blacked out!!!!!!!

One of my friends e-mailed tech support about this, and apparently there's some crazy blackout bug for some users that they'll have fixed soon (hopefully). The only games that should be blacked out are the TNT/ABC/ESPN ones I believe.

I have 6 blackouts and I live in Sac.

Interesting, thanks for the info....hopefully I can watch tonights game..no blackout.

For Blackouts.......

I think when you are local to the team, you actually get those games blacked out because the home tv station has the rights.

Kings Jazz Not on NBALP?????

I have Dish Network and they show the game is available in my area (North Idaho) as all games have been for the last 2 years:) but when I select the channel I get a massage saying 'its not available in my area'.
I called Dish and was told it was only shown locally on Fox Sports Net channel 409:mad:. I have the sports pakage, so I go to 409 and it is blacked there too...

Dish also said it would be blacked out on Direct TV too. Is there someone here in the Pacific Northwest with Direct TV and NBALP that can verify this?

If this is true, why would Moloofs Sports / Comcast only allow a local broadcast? Thanks for your input.

Comcast channel 409 broadcasts Kings games for those people within the Sacramento Kings broadcast area. Sports package or not, you cannot receive Kings games outside this area. You can watch other programs on the channel, but not NBA games.

It's not up to Maloof Sports or Comcast. It's part of the NBA's deal with each franchise that limits their broadcasts to their own sphere of coverage.

If anything, you might have been able to watch it on the channel that covers the Utah Jazz...

League Pass is the only legal way for people outside of the Kings local broadcast area to watch Kings games, either by satellite or cable broadcast or via the NBA League Pass Broadband program.

...

General Note: Yes, there are other ways to view games but they are not legal and we do not allow any reference to them, including links, etc. This also precludes people from posting "tips" for circumventing DISHNetwork or DirecTV.

VF21, thx for the reply. I have NBALP. DishNetwork told me I could not watch the game bacause the local network did not allow it to be shown nationally on NBALP. And the Jazz were not televising the game for NBAPL either. I feel that Dish was giving me a line af BS! I want to know if it was televised nationally on NBALP.

I can't give you a satisfactory answer. It sounds like you got the royal runaround and there's nothing you can do after the fact. If I were you, however, I would contact the NBA-LP folks and complain very loudly. You're paying a premium price for their service and I don't think local networks can supercede that on a whim. You most likely won't get much satisfaction but I'd sure rattle some cages. You never know what might fall out...

Good luck.

Thats why I want to know if other Kings fans outside of the Sacramento market got to see the game on NBALP. I have LP and I do feel I got the runaround from Dish. Dish has not had the best relationshilp with the NBA. Where I live if I ask my neighbor if they watched the Kings on TV, they would say yes, it was a great hockey game. Did anyone see the game on NBALP?

I was able to view the game on NBA LP down here in Los Angeles. I had it on 409 Comcast Cali and also on the Utah Jazz channel, I think it was Fox Sportsnet. I also get the repeat of the house party and game as well on 409.

Wierd, I have Directv, and the guide says Inside Edition is on after wheel of fish..err fortune.

Is the game really on News 10 and the guide is just not accurate?

what channel is game on??

Im in my guide looking for the game (7:20 pm) and I dont have the pregame or the game in the guide on Direct TV. The local paper shows it is supposed to be on Comcast Sporst N California which would be channel 798, but I dont have it listed and some show on the 49ers is on.

What is going on???

The game is on Ch. 10. The guide is wrong on both DirecTV and DishNetwork.

SWEETT, that means in all the HD glory of my 61 inch. I was in the shower thnking that I was going to be in crappy SD due to the game being on the road:)

is it just me, or does HD not seem different from the SD of just a few years ago? i feel like it's some sort of conspiracy, where they purposely degraded the image quality and called that "SD" so what used to be "SD" is now "HD."
