Watch for it - Maurice Taylor (merged)

(Disclaimer: My OWN opinion only, based on nothing, follows)

I am not going to rule out the possibility of the Kings making a real run for Kevin Garnett. It would explain WHY Petrie didn't address the front court situation satisfactorily. As I say, it's just a gut feeling...but it's not totally without some kind of rationale.

WOW. Just WOW. Thank you for some potentialy exciting news.

Note: that really is just VF21s gut there -- not news. Just a feeling/hope she's had looking at the way things have gone.

The roster addition is the actual news, as in should happen barring said individual deciding that God doesn;t want him to be a King.

Please do NOT get real excited about the Garnett thing. It is, as I stated and Bricklayer pointed out, merely a gut feeling of mine. It is one way I found to possibly give credence to some of the other stuff that's gone on. It is in NO WAY connected with the possible addition of another player to the Kings roster. And note, that's possible addition. At this point, it's not a done deal as far as I know.

KG + RonRon, now there's a thought that could help me get over Bonzi.

I sort of wonder if Salmons was brought in as replacement for Bibby in the event he is traded. With KG you don't need a star PG like Bibby @ 12 million, you can get by with a solid role player. Without Salmons trading Bibby for a big would leave us with an incredibly inexperienced backcourt.

Then again, I won't actually believe KG is coming here until I see him on the floor in a uniform.

As much as I think that Bibby + KG would be a lethal combo in and of itself, before we even got to Ron, I've had that same thought about Salmons. He's done little or nothing as a backup over his career, but as a long veratile roleplayer alongside a KG/Ron tandem, he might have value as a starter.

But anyway, that's all just fleshing out a pipedream at this point.

This is exciting even though nothing is for sure, i like the suspence, hopin the Kings make a big move.

It's NOT going to be a big move that may or may not be announced shortly.

The whole Kevin Garnett thing is merely speculation on why Petrie might have been making some of the moves he's made. Typical TDOS fodder, nothing more.

All my original post was meant to convey is the likely addition of another player to the Kings roster. It does NOT involve any kind of a trade at this point in time as far as I know.

If I understand the luxury tax correctly, couldn't we theoretically add a player and go over at the start of the season but make a trade later on to get under it?

Isn't that why we traded Skinner?

With the glut in the backcourt I wouldn't be surprised if Bibby moves on this year. They've moved everybody else.

That Mo Taylor rumor has been around for more than a week. I don't really know where the guy fits in, but he isn't useless on D. I remember him mixing it up under the basket and taking charges for the Knicks. At least we will have a guy that will go out and take some lumps.

VF21-- any hints please?

Sorry to bug you but this offseason has been long and boring, and with all of this Arena stuff going on, it's pretty depressing being a Kings fan right now.

Just looking for some excitement........ pretty please :)

Correct. It is the salary structure after the trade deadline that is looked at for the luxury tax.

any news is big news....better than what the off season has given us so far. Thanks VF for the heads-up :)

Mo plays good defense, he just can't rebound and he's forgotten how to score. Wouldn't hurt to have a good defender to throw against the good power forwards, I wouldn't mind this move (if this is, in fact, the move).

The question is where/how?

On the one hand, you really can't fault Geoff for picking up a Mo Taylor at this point, assuming its for peanuts, because he is a proven scorer in the NBA. But he might also be the single softest excuse for a "big" in the entire league (and yet another 4/3 combo rather than the desperately needed 4/5), valued so highly even the Knicks don't want him. If not the softest, then he and Raef might be chasing each other's skirts to see who wins the honor. And so now, you come onto a team with Brad, and SAR and Kenny and...where/what does he bring that is new? Who's minutes does he take? Perhaps they can all get together and have a soft-off where they engage in a vicious pillow fight until the one who cries for his mommy last gets dropped from the rotation? When you have a Mo Taylor with career averages of about 4.5rebs and 0.5blks in 25mpg ideally he'd be the designated finesse/scoring softee on the frontline, and provide change of pace. But what happens when they are ALL finesse players?

Brick i have to agree this would be a redundant move. Wouldn't you much rather just see what the youngsters have than this if the choices were between the 2. Unless a trades follows that frees up roster spots and gives up 1st round pick or something.

The youngsters will get their chance in pre-season. If they stink then having Mo would be better than not imo.

Also, the Knicks may have let him go so they can play their youngsters?
