Thanks for the blow by blow of the meeting. I was enjoying my vacation last week and often thought about the meeting on Tuesday. Looks like hurdle one has been jumped and next Tuesday will be the next hurdle to a November vote. I'm very pleased that the Supervisors spoke well on this matter and didn't follow in the granstanding pattern of the City Council during previous meetings. Even Supervisor MacGlashan had positive things to say even though she was sticking hard to the 2/3 majority vote. Like was stated earlier, the 2/3 vote was just a ploy by the anti-tax groups to easily defeat every local specific tax proposal. I think it's ironic that Prop 218 implements a test of 2/3 majority when in fact it passed with only 53% of the vote in Nov '96. I think as a general rule that the any 2/3 vote requirement should also be required to have a 2/3 vote majority in order to implement.
