This is alllllll on coaching. Embarrassing to say the least. 3 games in a row we can't get it started. This time we don't have Donte or Casspi to keep it interesting. Elie is just let everyone dig their graves deeper and deeper. There hasn't been a play run the whole game.

Way to crush our young talents confidence..ie; Whiteside and Cuz. This isn't inspiring anyone...

Holy cow, dude. This is usually what you get with Summer League each year. It's not about coaching to win the games. It's for experimentation (not the college kind) working out the kinks, and just generally looking for finding that kid that you can bring on to your roster. The Mavs, for example, came away knowing that they can give a camp invite to Lin. The Kings, on the other hand, came away realizing that Whiteside is very raw, but full of potential, and that Cousins can dominate and be a better passer than anyone imagined.

You have to use SL to gauge the individual efforts of the young guys. Did you recognize ANYONE on the Kings roster other than Whiteside and Cousins? Maybe RT, but the only reason is because he was Jason's younger brother.

Don't try to read anything else into this. Elie actually did a pretty darn good job coaching throughout the whole SL.

We had no guard playmakers out there this whole summerleague.. I am surprised we finished 4-2. Once the season starts Cousins will see how much easier it is to get the ball once Evans is the one dishing to him..

I watched five of the six games and one thing was evident - there's no unsigned shooting guard/point guard who can actually shoot on the Kings' summer league roster. Even Sloan sucked. Kings need to sign somebody who can score and soon!

Tonight's gameplan was total chaos. There was no coaching, no playmaking, no plays that were readily evident. If I was Elie, I'd feel humiliated.

When Christmas got some shots he usually shot it pretty well. And I was impressed by Devan Downey too. Maybe not just as a shooter but as a back up guard off the bench who can score and make some stuff happen.

Wow, well what an interesting ride summer league was huh? A couple head scratchers from the coaching staff for sure. Cousins at the top of the key, playing creator? Cousins being allowed to play in the last game after obviously being winded and broken down from the previous two? 2 problems we probably wont see in the regular season. hopefully the competition and poor play will be an eye opener for the big fella

Welcome to NBA Cous

I think that the coaches just wanted to try to get Cousins conditioned. He's tired as hell but he's only 19 so they're going to play him as long as he can still run. You better believe they're going to keep working him until he's down to 265 lbs. Curious to see what his body fat is by the time season starts.

Without Greene and Casspi, we really can't shoot for the life of us. I guess there's a reason why the undrafted were undrafted. I have a feeling Landesberg is the one guy undrafted they will pick up. They gave him a lot of minutes and he did pretty well overall with shooting consistency in this SL. He's also 6'6" and is quick enough to play the 2. I'm also high on Chism but doesn't look like there's any space for him with Landry, Whiteside, Cousins, Thompson and Dally. If he went 7 for 10 on this last game, they could have squeezed him in but 1 for 5 is not going to cut it.

this game was actually so horrible that after having watched our play against chicago yesterday, despite the outcome, i couldnt watch the game today all the way through. The guard play was atrocious.

As painful as it was to watch, it was also pretty exciting if you think about how scary good our kids are gonna be once Tyreke is out there with them. Grab onto your seats and hold on tight. We're in for an E ticket ride!

:)

Seriously, everyone is delusional if WITH THIS SL COACHing philosophy of disaster is a view of hopefully being a near playoff prayer team... they let our guys CHOAK!!.. whether they are on the team yet or not... summer league or not.... CHOAK! There was NO team strategy there... just GOOD LUCK DUDES!... I Will never support Elie for coach..................................

Thank you for that insightful post. Would you care to elaborate on what you mean by "philosophy of disaster"? Honestly, it's hard to make a cake when all you're given is a steak. Omri and Donte (our leader for the SL team) weren't suited up and we had just gotten finished with playing 6 games in 7 days, one more game than most other teams, and a tall order for anyone. Plus losing by 30 points isn't choking, it's getting blown out and even the good teams get blown out sometimes.

You pretty much backed it up... Philosophy of disaster; ie; no coaching = Lets see what our guys do as random as possible = blow out... Really, did you see any coaching there? NONE. Elie let 'er fly... not the best way to coach. Really, what was his game plan? I didn't see it. There's not a team in SL that doesn't have scrubs.

Same recipe last 3 games... and IMO this last one hurts more than just the loss...

Oh by the way; choke choke choke. (I choked on the spelling)

That should be us actually. We actually have an open spot for him, the Mavs do not behind Kidd/Beaubois/Barea/Terry.

And I hope we do. My point was that you shouldn't gauge how the season/players will go based on summer league.

"Summer league? Summer league? Not a game. It's summer league! Not a game, not a game, but summer league. Summer league, man."

If only Whiteside had mitts like Nance!

Seriously -- if there was one flaw that stood out most to me with Whiteside, outside of his lack of defensive awareness when he wasn't blocking shots, it's the stone hands he put on display sometimes. Too many times, I watched him fumble critical possessions like rebounds and low post entry passes. He's also not too great at sealing off his defender when attempting to receive said entry passes. I'm very excited for his potential, but he's got a long way to go. That said, we shouldn't be so quick to cast him off to D-League. I think being able to practice with the glutton of talented bigs that we have on a daily basis will help him along his learning curve much faster than dominating scrubs in the DL. Learning how to defend someone like Cousins in the post or trying to rotate over to block Tyreke's penetration will surely teach him a great deal.
