Voisin: Kings don't need this guy Artest

MAYBE HE SHOULD CONSIDER WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT, MUSIC OR BASKETBALL.

Well, if you read/heard about his appearance on Quite Frankly with SAS on ESPN2 in Aug/Sept., he talked for a few minutes about that he has people organized to deal with his music stuff so he can concentrate on 'Ball.

vf....why, of all people, do u insist on perpetuating a rumor that has been proven over and over to be false....

ron never wanted time or asked for time off to cut a rap album....period...

he didnt ask for time off for anything remotely resembling a rap album or the record business...

dislike the guy or not..thats fine...dont want him on ur team? i can definitely understand that....

but dont use sensationalized rumors that have since been proven to be false as the basis for such opinions....thats not right....

and u vf...are way better than that....

respectfully

Oh, dear. I am soooooo sorry. How could I have made such an egregious error?

I am heartily and sincerely sorry that I falsely accused Artest of wanting time off to make the album. That was wholely and completely wrong of me.

What I should have said, OF COURSE, is that he wanted time off because he was tired "from doing a bit too much music."

VF21 regrets the error.

If you don't want artest on this team(and basically trading our softest player for him), then you really don't want this team to win but rather have peace of mind for yourself because you don't wanna deal with a loose cannon(which I don't even think will be an issue).

Bull***t. I want this team to win as much as anyone here. I, like many others, don't think Artest is the way to do it. This isn't Duncan, KG, or another stable superstar we're talking about, it is a mentally unstable all-star who has had a real problem with staying devoted to the game or his team.

He got suspended for a season. Doesn't help the team.

He threw a TV. Doesn't help the team.

He asked for time off because he was tired FROM PROMOTING HIS RECORD LABEL/ARTISTS. Doesn't help the team.

He said this:

I kind of surprised the team by wanting to take some games off, just to get back together, maybe stay home for a little bit, rest a little bit and come back."

"They probably expected a little more; expected me to play every game.

"I've been doing a little bit too much music, just needed the rest," Artest said. "I've still got my album coming out Nov. 23. After the album comes out I'm going to make sure all of my time is focused on winning a championship."

"I was doing a lot. I was running around a lot and doing a whole bunch of stuff and I've also been working out, so I think I wore myself down physically, I wore myself down mentally. I was ready to take some time off, at least like a month off, but two games is enough."

Oh, I'm sorry, why doesn't the team just continue on without you if you are "tired". Maybe call the league, see if they will adjust the schedule to fit you whims? How would you feel about that, Mr Artest? Would that be OK with you?

Is this really the guy you want to be on your team. What hairbrained idea is he going to come up with next that he wants time off for? Being an actor in a film? Learning Chinese? Painting his house? What's next with this guy?

Man, you're getting too caught up in it, methinks.

Guy has been fine since January, from what I've followed of him.

It doesn't change everything, obviously. It, indeed, changes the part about everyone thinking he's going to take time off for music producing. :)

Yes, I am caught up in it. I realize this isn't NBA Live 2005 where you just throw guys together. This is a team I love to watch, and I don't want some idiot loon blowing up any chance we have of keeping the team here and getting an arena deal done.

If Peja gets traded I'd be OK with it, but not for Artest.

Warhawk, ofcourse were not talking about KG or duncan... Those guys get paid a s*** load of money... Artest only gets like 6 mil a year... And were talking about peja for him... If you don't think that's the way you want the team to set up for a championship, then I don't know what else.... Why do ya'll get so caught up in artests antics?? I for one don't give a rats a**... He's gonna help the team a whole lot more than peja's baby a**... Damn, some of ya'll need a chill pill or something.... Good god

One main thing that really changed my opinion to the NEY side was listening to FP. (FP is now on the rise guys and not to change the topic but he is the best addition to KHTK)

Anyway he explained exactly what happens when a guy like this joins a team and his experiences and I have to agree with him now.

Agreed.

As Ray Allen put it so well:

"Co-captains Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis said they wouldn't be opposed to adding a player with Artest's checkered past. "I think anybody would be welcomed until they prove otherwise," Allen said. "Whatever situations happened for a player in another city and for another team doesn't matter to me. I accept them for what they bring to the situation and how they act when they get here."

It doesn't matter - 6 mil or 12 mil or 18 mil, he's a talented player who can't keep his head on straight. Give me Deng or anyone else that could help this team that isn't going to possibly blow it up in the process, if Peja or someone else gets traded.

He can only help the team if he is playing. Sitting on the bench he's worse than one of the big 3, since we'd have to get rid of a big scoring threat to get him.

I do give a rat's a** about his "antics", since those antics could SERIOUSLY disrupt this team and sink any plans to get a new arena and keep the team here. Maybe that isn't important to you. It is to me.

Mark Kreidler was on KHTK this morning. His opinion is that its unlikely this trade will happen from Indiana's perspective. He also thinks its much more likely that Pedja gets traded near the trade deadline when teams are looking for that one player they think will make the difference. In his opinion, that's when Pedja's trade value will peak and the Kings can get the most for the deal.

Its an opinion, of course, but I do respect his opinion, when it comes to the Kings.

condescension duly noted....

and im very sorry the facts dont support the image ur trying to portray...

even after the empty apology, u still are distorting the facts...

i give..

difference is i m just about the only person in this so called discussion that doesnt seem to have any vested interest in twisting the facts about him to suit my wishes...

i have no real wish for artest, where the kings are concerned....if he becomes a king i will root him on and watch him make them a better team...providing some of the things the team desperately lacks...

if he doesnt become a king, thats ok too....

cause in the overall scheme of things i dont care whether they succeed or fail...

i do hope ron succeeds, but i realize the kings will have no real bearing on that...though i do think there are a couple bettter situations out there for him...though the kings are better than most, if adelman stays-which is a whole nother subject....

Much as I hate to admit it I actually agree with AV:eek:. He wants to be more selfish, his heart isn't totally into bball from what I've read and heard. Is that what the Kings want or need? Personally I don't think so. Peja may not do bball at home but at least for the most part he does do it when the season starts. He's a ticking time bomb and I don't want him detonated in Sac.

I'm absolutely sure you don't care if he becomes a King or not. On the other hand, you are obviously a huge fan of Artest. To me I have to view your opinions on Ron as quite possibly biased or colored by that fandom. That's OK, you probably read Pedja fans in here whose opinion you take with a grain of salt (or should;) ).

As to the strong opinions expressed here, don't you have pretty strong opinions about what players you do and don't want to see in the trade for the Pacers? Or do you not care about that either? Of course we have a vested interest in who comes to the Kings. Its our team!

For some crazy reason after he gets traded and in about 18 months we are going to see some I told ya the guy was a nut threads. Artest is his worst enemy, I seen an interview the other day when he was in his Escalade or whatever it was and he came off as an arogent SOB.

I am surprised not every Pacer fan in the world is happy he is going to be hitting the road. Pacers my former first team til I moved here and still one I root for. I am glad to see him go. AV hit this one on the head one of the few times she does.

It wasn't condescending, BTW. It was clearly sarcasm. ;)

Ron Artest IMHO is a nutcase. Whether or not he ACTUALLY asked for time off is like 147th on the list of reasons I wouldn't want him in a Kings uniform.

As far as you not caring if the Kings succeed or fail, that's really of no consequence in this discussion whatsoever and actually sounds just a little like sour grapes.

I'm sorry that you feel your favorite player is being portrayed so unfairly. But the buck doesn't stop or start with me.

Ron Artest is arguably the most polarizing figure in the NBA today, if not ever. Rodman, of course, still might have a slight edge in that regard.

I am NOT making up stories to discredit him. He's doing a pretty good job of that without any help from me.

I think kennadog made the best response, however:

Grant is ripping The Bee on the radio, saying that AV made up the Artest for peja trade rumor from the TNT Charles supposed quotes. Wow! He's going off! LOL!

What? How did she make the rumor up? This is one case were AV had nothing to do with anything. Grant is a freak. Lemme guess Lamb is like "well umm if the force of emc=2 then artest will land in NY"

This team is gonna sit in mediocraty forever... And the people and fans in sacramento are to blame... You guys look for morals too much than looking at how a player can help the team on the court.... You don't wan AI... You don't want artest... You prolly won't take rasheed wallace either... Fine just let the kings rought in the siberia of the nba with minimal chance of a new arena, a team on the decline and heading to mediocraty, may continue to live in the disasters of mediocraty for god knows how long... All because your looking at a players personalities which to me really means nothing.... I bet some of you didn't want webber to come here... I bet some of you REALLY didn't want vlade to come here... I bet some of you were against drafting j will... I bet some of you were against having jim jackson or nick anderson on the kings... But your complaing(actually crying) about a top 10 player in the league coming to sac all because you don't want him to go artest on us? Yeah what a way for your franchise to head in the right direction... Aren't u tired of this team being humiliated on nationaly television... Aren't you tired of this team getting manhandled against the elites of the nba... Aren't you tired of announcers just laughing when we are being discussed... No, u rather would have a guy like stojacovic who's gonna be a free agent in the offseason and is gonna give us the boot... Not to mention he is the complete oppsosite of what artest is... And he's probably the complete opposite of the average nba player.... But no, lets just watch this team continue to play without any type of star player or anything even close to that... Were not gonna find us another team stupid enough to trade a star player for a mitch richmond type player again(if that's what your hoping will happen).... Or we could just trade peja for 3 "TRADEABLE" parts... Yeah that always works... Get your priorties straight and stop thinking about yourself before the future of the kings....

Go kings

I dunno, because I usually don't watch the halftime stuff. Grant basically said that the Bee is responsible for starting the rumor (going back to AV's article about Peja's future: murky as a King) , and that he's been contacted about it and is mad because (in his opinion), nothing is there to talk about.

He's still talking about it, and says that the Bee has said that it made an error in their editing process.

I do care what happens to my beloved Kings. And I don't personally believe Ron Artest would help them. If that hurts his widdle feelings, tough nougies.

i know u care about ur kings...u know i know that....and u know how i care about my pacers as well...we are equally passionate..

and granted, this is a bizarre situation....

and any sour grapes or unhappiness i might feel has zero bearing when discussing the kings and how artest might relate to them...

as far as ur dislike hurting ron, well we both know ur not serious...and the continued sarcasm and condescension doesnt make it more palatable...:)

but when u say things about what is being reported in the media...u best be careful...ur smarter than that...especially when its a sensational story in the waiting....how many reports regarding peja have made the headlines the last year or so were greatly distorted and misrepresented...

and im telling u, just as u could set me straight on some details on kings goings on, that the way u are trying to represent his requesting time off is woefully incorrect...probably not much different from the trade demands of peja a little over a year ago....or the insistance that webber or peja needs to be gone...stuff like that....

ron artest is not a choirboy....he has huge baggage....and is unbelievably high maintenance....but lets at least deal with the facts....even the facts as i told u....they still dont make that whole situation good...and i can discuss many other situations that would be reason to think long and hard aobut whether u bring him in or not...and in the end i think theres only a couple teams that ultimately it makes sense for...and that is based on the level of risk, the level of return, and whether they could afford it if it didnt work out well...

look...ron artest asked for time off during the middle of the season...not really the middle but only a few games in....

thats crazy...and he made some boneheaded comments after that...be he always does....ive said it before....u cannot pay any attention to anything he says....cause 90 percent of the time hes not expressing what he means(because hes very bad at verbalizing his thoughts) and its usually something he would just assume not have said the next day...i know sometimes thats hard to do though....

anyway, why he wanted to take the time off, is really not the issue...the fact that that is what becomes the focal point, let alone that it be misrepresented and distorted is a joke....

dont get away from the truth and the real issue....he asked for a time off a few games into the season....thats bad..real bad...now if u wanna know why, i told u before, he had lost his grandmother, had been incredibly busy during the offseason and never really took a break and let his body recover from the tremendous toll it takes playing ball like he normally does....what was he busy doing?? among other things, yes producing an r and b album by allure and all the necessary things involved in trying to promote its release....was he doing other things?? of course....he played summer leagues in new york...

what he did wasnt really the issue...the end result was the issue...and it just appalls me to see anything done like this...whether it be about ron, peja, webber, kobe, anyone...the medias craving for a story that they distort and misrepresent...

and i thought u, of all people felt the same way...thats all....

i can give u a laundry list of things not to like about ronnie..trust me...

im, in no way trying to misrepresent him....

hes my favorite ballplayer very simply because of the way he plays ball...noone plays with more effort, intensity and passion for EVERY minute hes in the game than ron artest-let alone someone with his talents...and i do like the fact that hes so very different when it comes to his real life-unlike the vast majority of his nba brethren...

that being said, some of the things he does, or says, just has me shaking my head...

but hes a ballplayer, not someone im going to marry or have my child marry....

its not personal...hes just a ballplayer that plays or played for my favorite team....

if the pacers can somehow come out of this better suited to win a title(which i dont believe they will) then i would be all for it....thats the way i am....no matter if its a player that i love or cant stand, if they can be moved and my team benefits, then im all for it....

and i thought u were that way too....rational and dealing with only the true facts and how they relate to the futures of our favorite basketball teams...

At least you know where AV stands on issues. With Grant, it's almost as though you're dealing with Janus.

He do not have any room to be making comments like that about ANYBODY. I haven't forgotten all the venom he spouted about Bobby Jackson and how Bobby was dogging it with the abdominal strain.

If Grant honestly thinks AV was the one who started the whole Peja for Artest thing, he's been living in a cave.

2 words and pardon my hoosier language

GRANT SUCKS

EDIT: BTW I find no reason to give a reason as I have stated prolly since the first Grant thread on this post. Grant as a Talk show host is horrible.. Grant as an NBA play by play is good.

Uh oh. Well, look at that.

I'm sorry but at this point I just find it hilarious.

Nope. Just that generally rewrites like that are because of the editor. (Check my post #27 in that thread, where I commented at the time that it was very odd that the piece was so different...)

I don't know at this point what's going on. I just find Grant Napear to be so totally annoying nowadays that his rantings and ravings are suspect.

Hey, bottom line? I don't hear him anyway and only read about his program when someone posts it here. And for that I am eternally grateful.

;)
