Vlad Rad staying with Seattle for a year...

Press Release - Seattle SuperSonics General Manager Rick Sund announced today that Vladimir Radmanovic has signed a one-year qualifying offer to remain with the Sonics.

“We’re happy Vladimir has decided to return to the Sonics,” said Sund. “He’s a multi-positional player who can shoot the three and he’s a good fit with our team.”

Last season, his fourth in the NBA, Radmanovic averaged 11.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in 63 games. He was originally drafted by the Sonics in the first round (12th overall pick) of the 2001 NBA Draft.

Now time for them to decide on Reggie Evans. I'd think Flip Murray is gone...

Vladamir hasn't "decided" to return to the Sonics -- he and his agent are completely delusional regarding his value, and so decided they had no choice but to bite the bullet and come back at the qualifying offer level so they could be unrestricted next year to pursue their mythical $50+million contract that they insist they are due.

I would not want him on my team with his attitude problem. He has such an ego and a high self worth that goes beyond any talent and skill he has.

Yup, that's what the story has been just about all off-season. But if they did give him that deal, he would of been starting (which was the proven motive behind that), at PF I'd think (Lewis is too small mass-wise, despite his post-game, who knows what they'd do regarding match-ups though). Which is why before this, Radmanovic/Evans (Evans still is, as is Radmanovic, but in a different aspect) were absolutely key for them regarding how they'd be.

That would of been quite iffy...

Id hesitate to judge Vlad on this one. He has an agent for a reason and probably is simply takeing the advice he paid for.

It's not only his agent. Radmanovic thinks he's Michael Jordan in a Seattle Uniform.
 
I kind of assumed Radmanovic would stay with the Sonics (despite the astronomical asking price), I would like to know more about Evans though. Where does Seattle stand as far as cap room to sign him and or exceptions he may qualify for?

Actually Vlad coming back for just the qualifying offer would seem to make resigning Evans more likely now as 1) Vlad is not likely to be there next year; and 2) he's costing less this year than they might have anticipated, thus freeing up more money for Reggie.

Still bizarre how a couple of teams -- Chicago and Seattle come to mind primarily, have handled the resigning of their own free agents. Training camp is only a few weeks away and they are still dicking around.

Minny are still going after Evans. Last I've read too, talks haven't been going places with Seattle. Should pick up now though...
 
Vlad is an idiot, he turned down 44 million and that will cost here next summer when teams are offering him just the MLE.

Other news is that Reggie Evans and Flip Murray are expected to re-sign this week.
 
That's good then. Seattle will have just about all of their depth/FAs back, only losing one (very) key guy in Daniels.

Well, letting Nate go probably wasn't the smartest thing to do either, but who knows yet. It seems that in the end they will pretty much have same basic team back next year (minus James and Daniels). I'm still holding out hope that the kings will make some sort of deal for a tough post player, despite all the "we're satisfied" talk. But maybe I'm just stubborn.

Me too, but we got 3 post players.

What I'd like to see is another center and a swingman (SF or SF/SG combo player), like guys in my signature (just a center would be nice too). Those are the two areas that can use improvement, especially at center. Either signed, or invited to camp and then kept. Keeping one of the guards is a stretch, and I wouldn't mind either Paulding or Flores, but one/two of the bigger players that should be invited is more likely.

Noooooooooo, not Evans. Truthfully, we have nothing to offer him. But a guy like him would put us over the top imo.

It doesn't really matter to me whether its at C or PF, I just want a tall, tough post player. It would be ideal if one the guys on the training camp roster can do something like that ala Keon Clark minus the attitude. Maybe my expectations are a little high but whatever. As far as the swingman goes, I personally believe that Matt Barnes would be fine. He is such a nice change of pace from Peja and for such a short period of time that I don't see why thats not a no-brainer. The guards I'm pretty happy with at the moment.

If I'm a Seattle fan right now I think I'm a little miffed that the team didn't do more to improve. Yeah its great that they resigned their guys (or at least most of them) but you have to go up in the West to stay competitive. I guess letting Jerome James walk could be considered an improvement.
 
Yeah, I'd still absolutely love to have Reggie Evans in Sac. But that possibility has gone down to slim-none since August.

Well Seattle said at the end and over the off-season "we want to keep most of our guys (FAs)", as their bench was a huge factor in their surprise run. They knew it. But, they did lose a guy who was a top part of that in Antonio Daniels. That was a big blow.
