All those guys you mentioned will have one more year in their belt (other than the top 4 pick) , just gettting better with unlimited potential, and will compete for a long time. You also forgot the otehr FA we will prolly sign with the rest of the money we will have left from the Boozer signing. Prolly a player that is a SF( maybe Hedo) and we will have:

PG: Top 4 pick (Jennings, Holiday, Rubio?)
SG: Kmart
SF: Hedo?
PF: Boozer
C: Hawes
bench: Beno, Wright, Cook, Donte, THompson, Cisco, Brown, Houstons pick (Prolly a C)

This goes back to the question about our cap: How are we going to get this far under the cap to not only sign Boozer but Hedo as well?
 
No Boozer. Please. We do not need any more oft-injured players!!!

This team should know better. If we sign another player who has injury issues, it will be the dumbest mistake Petries ever done, because we have been burnt by injuries before. Specifically to the PF position.

"prolly, prolly, prolly" just shows youre throwing things out from your nether regions. your trades were realistic. they were fairly balanced (in fact, i would rather get a lil something extra from ny). signing "uber me me me super star" boozer is not. neither is hedo. i can tell you have not thought the rest out thoroughly, and im sure others can see as well.

you've deviated from having solid reasoning, to saying things that have no credibility like "unlimited potential," and "prolly a sf." tell me why boozer comes here, and tell me why hedo comes here, and tell me why we draft a center w/houstons pick, and not just so it will make your depth charts look nice. otherwise, it's just pipe dreaming at its finest.

i like the enthusiasm we have here about our young kids, but it just feels like theres a myopia surrounding sacramento. if we were to compare oru kids to other rebuilding/young teams, we have average talent, and an average outlook if you go ahead and forecast nba cycles with aging teams falling off, and younger teams rising up. we arent terrible, but we dont have any more reason to be excited for than the next crap young team.

We will have 23 million dollars in cap if the trade happens. So then Kings will sign Boozer for arond 15 million and hedo for about 8 million....

Boozer comes here because of the money we wil have, and the surrounding players around him such as Hawes, KMart top 4 pick, and the rest of the young, potential role players in Wright , Thompson, Cook... Hedo will come for same reasons such as money, good team if he comes, and plus he ends his last 4-5 years with Sacramento. Why we draft a Center with Houstons pick? That is to fill the hole we will have at Center for a backup just in case.

I have stated these reasons many times and it is most certainly not a pipedream.

What about the $5 millions or so needed to sign the two 1st round draft picks and the $1 million give or take needed to sign the 13th man to fill out the roster?

Well yah, but Sacramento has just as good of a chance as anyone if we were able to offer him max. The Maloofs getting involved on FA signings is something I wouldn't mind happening. They are charismatic and people seem to like them. They don't have the best hotel in Vegas, but it has one of the top 5 best clubs in Vegas and a lot of young money is spent in Vegas.

Wo what if we are down around 5 million dollars...you know its ok to spend money because thats the only way a championship team is made.

I think a lot of teams have been over the luxury tax and aint taht big of a deal if its only by a bit. If the Maloofs want to win, they can spend a milliion out of their hundreds of millions to get their team to win.

No, a lot of teams don't go over the luxury tax and yes, it is a pretty big deal.

I know you really like your proposal but the luxury tax problem is something you absolutely have to consider. You're being pretty cavalier with the Maloofs' money... which is fine if you're just talking dream trade ideas. When push comes to shove, however, and the checks actually have to be written, it's not your bank account that will be tapped.

Well then lets back up. Boozer equals 14 million. Hedo 7 million. Draft picks 4 million. Kings will have right around that much and plus with Jamal/Magloire/ Joel Anthony guy being on the Kings, they are both expiring so a little more mone is saved there.

That's not what I'm saying. You cannot go over the cap to sign Boozer or Hedo. I didn't make it up. That's just the rule.

Factor in the $5 mil or so that is needed to sign the draft picks and you don't have enough money because you cannot go over the cap.

Bballkingsrock - If you're over the cap by even ONE DOLLAR, you not only have to pay the luxury tax but you lose the portion of money given to all the teams that haven't exceeded the threshhold and that can be a pretty penny.

I don't want Carlos Boozer for a variety of reasons so I'm not going to argue that point. I think others are doing a very good job of pointing out the fallacies in your idea. I'll tell you one thing, though. I cannot imagine any scenario by which the Kings would acquire Stephon Marbury. None.

I only got into this, though, because of your comment about the luxury tax so I'll get back out and leave it to others to argue possibilities.

And beb0p is right; you cannot just go over the cap because you feel like it. You can only exceed the cap in certain situations and they're very limited...

i think the initial reception towards your trade idea prompted you to keep going with something... anything... to finish with a championship team. it doesnt work like that.

Maybe he wants to end his career with the Kings? And thats good enough money not toooo far off from the 9-10 he might get. But what superstars do you want hte Kings to get?

This is the most realistic we can get....if you want the Kings to win.
 
What lost me is why would the Knicks take Brad Miller and KT from us when doing so would cost them an additional $20 millions in lux tax. That's what lost me. Without this trade there is no cap space, so all this other steps on signing Boozer is all for naught.

Well they would do it to have around an extra 15 million in 2010 which would be VERy luring to any superstar or maybe two in 2010. PLUS, Ney York has been used to paying hte tax so one more year will not matter.

Stephon is actually like 17 million while Brad is 12 million and Kenny is 8 million. So Knicks would be saving 3 million more that year and if they want a real chance at Lebron then they need every extra penny over other teams...
 
Walsh won't do a Marbury for Miller/Thomas. And here's why?

1. Marbury is expiring which means they don't have to pay 20M to somebody next year. That's minus 20M from the payroll next year.

2. If they get Brad and Kenny, they will still have another 20M on the payroll next year.

3. Brad/Kenny are not superstars to lure some big names to N.Y.

4. Walsh would rather fill the roster spot with cheaper players for a year contract only rather than have an aging Brad and Kenny worth 20M.

5. Even without getting Brad and Kenny, they will still have that much money to bid LBJ by not signing any long/big deals next season.

he is also 30, and this is his last major contract. he is lookign for 5 years. he is also looking for a pay raise. he should also be lookign for a contender. does this sound like the kings? your speculation for his comign here (with a pay cut, nonetheless... my god) pales in comparison to him NOT coming here.

they save 3 million THIS year, and LOSE 17 million the next year, which gives them a net "savings" of -14 million.

and these extra pennies dont matter when you are already able to offer a max contract. do you know what that is? per cba rules, you just cant offer lebron 40 million dollars of your cap if you have it. you can only go so high. i did the math, and i think its 18-19ish million in 2010. so once you hit that, thats all you can offer. the exception, of course, is the cavs, who can go over the cap, and offer 6 years, and higher pay raises per year.

looking at the posts youve been making, i really think you should take a look at the cba rules. maybe wiki has an article on it? it seems like youre confused about how contracts and signings work.

It doesn't make sense. Marbury is an expiring contract. Brad and KT are not.
