USA vs. Puerto Rico - ESPN2 (merged)

I think team USA will play more run and gun since Coach D is the assistant and will also play with a lot of full court defense. He also likes guys that can rebound, play defense, steal, block shots, dunk.

I wouldn't be suprised if Brad gets cut...

I kinda would, he wasn't that bad out there. Just average.
I wouldnt say average, he looked like he moved alot better, but thats just me. If he didnt play in the second half, i would have said he is a cut, but the few min he played in the second half made him look pretty good. If he does get cut, I wouldnt be that surprised, since they look like they want speed on the court.

I think they'll do cuts after the exhibitions. They still have 4 or 5 more to go before 8/19 when the tourney starts in Japan.

They said the roster was at 14 to start the game tonight which means 2 more cuts. Amare had to leave because his knee is still ailing him and he needs more re-hab. Brad's style fits the international game and when he wasn't teamed with fricken Shane Battier his rotations on D at least looked acceptable. Like we all know he NEEDS a shotblocker on the front line with him Battier isn't going to work. Funny thing is he may be one of the best overall shooters on that roster especially with the 3 pt. line that short. He was also setting good picks up high to free up the guards for wide open looks... I hope he makes it.

Granted it was Puerto Rico but when Lebron, Wade and Hinrich were on the floor their defense was awesome.

I think the US finally has a coach who knows the right way to play the international game(unlike George Karl) and this team is going to have clear sailing through the tournaments.....they may have some trouble with their outside shooting but I think other teams are really going to have a hard time scoring.

Watching this game I kept seeing buys going in and out of the game and I was like "Holy crap this team is loaded".

Good game last night.

It was close during most of the first half, but then USA broke away and dominated. I hope they don't lose this summer.

GO USA!

i wouldn't think brad gets cut, given that his defensive liabilities are going to be minimized with such athletic PFs playing with him. also, he's the only 7 footer on the roster, that may come in handy if they run into a bigger, more methodical team. plus...he can shoot, and we need every one of those we can get.

Much better finish! Clearly both teams were experimenting some and Puerto Rico just got overwhelmed in the end by superior US talent. Defense looks to be this team's trademark.

I really hope they cut down on those 3's and figure out a way to get better quality shots more often against the zone. Just reminds me too much of team's past... works against the average to OK teams, but if you get a squad that's not turning the ball over like PR is, suddenly you gotta execute.

Anyways, you can't complain after a second half like that. :) Brad should make the team... he showed some decent touch from the outside last night.

I hope Brad gets more playing time against China, maybe he can help defend Yao.

I guess that shorter 3-point arc is just tempting to the NBA guys. ;) They were really impressive on defense in the second half. Its not just talent, its the depth of the talent.

What was the final score-- i lost all power last night and couldn't finish watching the game.

Edit:never mind

speaking of santiago, i think my buddy picked up a tidbit (maybe hoopshype?) that the wolves were looking into possibly getting santiago.

why don't the kings ever have any good rumors like that?

Santiago is one of the clumsiest center i have ever seen. That rumor isn't good--it's not like he would help the Wolves much, if at all.

really? he didn't look that clumsy playing last night, but i guess it was just one exhibition game. it's been such a long time that any big is starting to look real good.

The guy had like 7-9 pts, 3-4 rebounds, and a couple charges - big whoop... guy is a scrub and was brought back down to earth after the first 3 minutes of the 2nd qtr or so.

I'm glad the Kings aren't looking into getting Santiago. There are MUCH better opitions than Daniel Santiago for what the Kings need. Santiago is a low option.

Because there's been no news since the mention of possibly using the LLE on a big in the Salmons article... that doesn't mean anything. We'll know in 2 months. :)

I hate to say this but I really doubt that Miller makes the final cut. Both him and Bowen seemed to be the odd men out and didn't really show much. Unless Bosh keeps playing the way he did last night, then I just don't see any reason to have Miller on the team. I hope I'm wrong though, cuz I would love to see Miller make the team.
