Tyreke's jumpshot:

bajaden

Hall of Famer
Since there's been much speculation over his progress in this area, I thought it appropiate to start a new thread. Tyreke participated in a series of games with other pro's against some of the top highschoolers in the nation. Don't know the length of the games, but one comment that came from Jonathon Givony was that Tyreke was killing them with his jumpers from all over the floor. And then, this morning there's this small report.

highlights from that elite 24 thing

Thanks for the videos. Couldn't see enough of the jumper to judge, but it was going in. The main thing I noticed is that Tyreke looks a lot quicker, and thinner. This could be a breakout year for Tyreke, which could mean a big jump in the standings for the team.. Being lighter will also help him on defense..

I'm really hoping his jump shot really gets good and stays consistent. Earlier in the summer, the videos I saw of him working out were still of him shorting his follow through here and there.

At this point, I guess the fade that he does is not going to go away. Thats just the way he likes it. The best we can hope for is he does it under control and in a consistent way every single time so he doesn't throw off his own balance.

I think he developed that fade habit because of TMAC being his fav player growing up. TMAC has that slight fade as well but TMAC is/was a better shooter in his prime.

The key is to find a way to stay consistent in which ever way works for him Don't change the mechanics every time. Kevin Martin shoots in a "weird" way but it works for him. So I'm not going to be too picky about Reke's form anymore because it just doesn't seem like he is ever going to shoot the textbook way. Just hope he keeps working and develop a best form for himself and find a way to stick to it.

It doesnt look very different based on those videos, and if it isnt I dont care. I just want it to go in. I have seen way to many good shooters with 'bad' form to say he needs to totally restructure how he shoots. As long as it goes in he can shoot it however he wants.

Like the poster above me said, its all about consistency. If he spends a lot of time working on his jumper it will get better.

Time will tell. Won't get excited until I see it in an NBA game. We've also all seen great practice shooters who can't throw the ball in the ocean as soon as the ball goes up.

Well, he wasn't shooting in practice in those videos. Obviously it wasn't NBA competition, but it was still competition. What I was impressed with was his quickness. Something that he lacked last year.

Oh boy...Tyreke, that is just WRONG! poor kids. Yeah Tyreke looks much more explosive and quick. He's seems to have more lift on his dunks too this summer compared to what we're used to. If he can stay healthy this year, watch out!

Finally some Reke highlights. Haven't seen anything since the game in Manilla. Shot is looking good, its going down. Just keep putting the work in Reke you still will have plenty of time to get shots and reps up. I do want to see him try his shooting out in a game with some more NBA players though.

Fun to watch the videos! Not sure if he would be able to get away with a lot of those moves in an NBA game though, looks like a lot of carrying to me but you never know!
