The Kings' facebook posted this so I thought I'd share it over here. I dont think it's been posted yet. His jumper isn't looking too bad! Keep working Tyreke!

I love Tyreke, but I'm suprise his people have not corrected the way he releases the ball.

His positioning of where he holds the ball before he shoots it has improved a lot. He used to bring it far back. His shooting arm motion is a lot more straight. But has anyone else noticed Reke's left hand kind of shoots the ball also????? His left hand should really be just there to stablize the ball and not alter the movement of the ball.

First off, the shot looks better. Rome wasn't built in a day, so tiny steps, tiny steps. The left hand should be the guide hand. Hard to tell in the video when his guide hand comes off the ball, so its hard to criticize him without more video to watch. His biggest improvement was the most important, and that was getting the ball more out in front of him. It gives him less overall arm motion and more control of the shot. It also speeds up the entire motion, making it more difficult to block. Bottom line, if it goes in at a higher rate, then its been a productive summer..

It looks a lot better. Notice how hes staying in the same spot on the floor before and after the shot? In the previous season he'd always fall backwards a bit which imo creates inconsistency.

Shot looks pretty good to me. I'd be pretty pleased if my kids were at that point. The left doesn't seem to be pushing anything, really. In any case, we'll see what happens when there's a defender on him.

You're opinion is correct. Also, the ball is coming from the top of his forehead instead of the top of his head. He doesnt look like his leaning backward like he did last year, which is great. The two main knocks that I see are that he's still using two seperate motions to get his shot off. One motion is to get the ball into shooting position and the other is initiating the shot. In other words, he still has a hitch in his shot. Also, hed be better off if he shot the ball with more upward trajectory. Its alot better to push the ball up instead of forward. Im sure he'll get there and ill be happy if this is what his shot looks like in the upcoming season.

As long as he consistently gets that ball into the net, I could care less if he has a pretty shooting form ;)

Exactly! However works best to get the ball consistantly in the basket is the best way for him. Remembering awhile back at some past good 'shooters' that had HORRIBLE looking shots...former King Mike McGee, former 3 pt champion Craig Hodges, and modern day Shawn Marion...UGLY!!! But effective for them!

Interesting to compare with a year ago...

Reggie Miller had bad form, and he pushed a bit with his left hand. Still one of the best shooters of all time. But if you want to find a shooter's form and technique to emulate, look no further than Ray Allen.

So basically we agree on what we see. I just don't want him to have to tweak his form again next season to perfect it. If he is putting up 100s of shots a day, why not do it right?

The thing I pointed out with his left hand also moving and spinning/shooting the ball is not just from this one video. I've seen him do it in the workouts with Derrick Rose earlier also. Moving his left hand like that will alter his shot and make it inconsistent. Its something that he should change now while he is changing his shot. Once he gets used to shooting this way for 82+playoffs, it'll be very difficult for him to change it again. Sounds trivial but it can be the difference between a streaky shooter or a consistently good shooter.

Shorter motion and less lean and body motion is all good. Wonder if he's able to maintain the improvements when he's shooting off the dribble? That wil be the unfair moment -- when he's able to stop and pull up at any point on his drives as well as go all the way.

These are more set shots than jumpshots. I'm curious to see his jumpshot, in particular on the move. He had a decent set shot last year but a really horrible looking jumpshot. When he shoots off the dribble, his bad form is VERY obvious with him bringing the ball way back over his head and fading away.

hahaha Brickie, you and I were thinking the same thing

Yeah, this alone could make a nice difference though in keeping the Shane Battiers of the world from merely playing off him 5 feet to stop his drives, so if he can hit these shots conistently, even when tired, it eliminates that cheat, and potentially makes him better when he's off the ball for whatever reason too. But shooting off the dribble is the one that could make him just about the best iso scorer in the entire game. He almost can't be stopped already. Force people to have to guard him every step of the way rather than dive back toward the paint trying to cut him offf and...like I say, unfair.

I've seen him practice a few times and his shot always looks nice and goes in a lot......it's just when it's game time when he resorts to old bad habits, like the lean back.

We'll see if he'll be able to control that this season.

And unfair is exactly what we want. :: evil grin ::

His trainers need to keep track of him every game and point out any bad habits and correct his form during halftime, post game etc. After a season of this, it should become natural for him.

Someone needs to get a broom out and stick it in his face when he's shooting.. Bring back some old school techniques.

Where's Dick Motta and his folding chairs when you need him? Ahhhh, memories of the picket fence...

Learn from a guy like peja too... he has one of the sweetest pumpfake jabstep shoot combo i have seen.... reke's shot looks impressive and has improved a lot

Surprisingly Peja also had a weird release on his shot. His wrist would flick to the right instead of just straight down. But if it goes in, who's complaining.

Yeah but he had beautiful fakes and side steps, his shot in my opinion is pretty, wave like and quick...

If you ever went to a game and watched Peja warm up, his ball would actually curve to the left in the air because of the english put on the ball. Obviously it doesn't matter as long as you adjust for it.

Heres some shot off the dribble. looks good to me. he could fade away a little less. but if it goes in consistently... game on.
