Bittersweet move. This team will do even worse than they are now which is just going to be awful.

Smart move, our team is so effed up right now, no need to risk further injury.
Umm, is this Team Tyreke making executive decisions here, as opposed to Kings management? Because that's not exactly a precedent I like, whether Tyreke is injured or not.
Now, if the Kings have told Tyreke that it's his choice to play through it or not, and he's been sticking it out and he and his family have decided that he should take the team's offer to sit, that's one thing. But if Team Tyreke is telling him to sit without the Kings' blessing, that's kind of out of line.
Let Reke heal up. Itll also give us the opportunity to assess whatever talent we have outside of Tyreke.

If we're going to be making assumptions, then the management is the one more likely to be out of line in this situation. He was obviously gimped with at least two injuries to critical areas of his body and performing way below expectations because of it. If anything, the organization should've realized far, far sooner how much permanent damage they could be doing to him in the future by continuing to let him go out there.
I've gotten the feeling that this decision was delayed to keep him out there to right the ship as much as he could under the pressure of saving not only the season, but the team's existence in Sacramento. Those really are enormous stakes, and that's the only rational reason you would throw out a basketball player on to the court while nursing pretty serious injuries to the part of the body that he relies on the most.
Multiple physicians can't seem to find a reason to keep him out of games. Most of the players in the NBA play through pain, including his problem. I support the move because we're beyond crappy, the season is lost, and his health longterm is very important to this team.
I don't like hearing the news from team Tyreke.
Grouping Tyreke's situation into a generalization like "most players play through pain" is selling him pretty damn short. "Most players" don't play with injuries that turn them into a shell of their selves, which is what a bad case of plantar fasciitis can do, however temporarily. I know his specialist said it wasn't terrifically bad, but you couple that ailment with his softened ankles and you have an unexplosive player who relies on his explosiveness to achieve success. This team should've made the move to rest him earlier, because he wasn't doing this team any favors playing the way he was.
Think the main concern is the news coming from Team Reke instead of the Kings, and I feel that's a valid concern.

But is it? Consider how we are learning of this. This is not some sort of annuncement. This is akin to an insider leak. As far as we know this is the way that such decisions are ALWAYS made with every player. Agreement is reached, then the team makes the official announcement the next day. We just may havbe found out the agreement was reached ahead of time.
