Tyreke has always had great handles, but now, he looks much quicker as well. That and his great handles makes for a deadly combination. Nice to see him playing above the rim. I also noted that almost every jumpshot save one in the video was a midrange jumpshot. Obviously a highlight reel of nothing but the makes, but none the less, he looked vertical on his shot with little sign of the fade away. It would be nice to see him win the MIP award. Especially if his biggest competition is someone named DeMarcus Cousins.
im interested to see what his official weight is this season. i remember he was listed at 220 his rookie year
They rarely update those weights. There are 35 year old guys checking in at 270 that are still lsited at their rookie 235
Got this off the wires this morning from Hoopsworld. Not sure how revelant it is considering the source..
"Bill Ingram
I actually had a long talk with Keith Smart about Evans when we were in LV at summer league. The knock on Tyreke is that he can’t knock down the open jumper during games. He rains them down during practice, but is reluctant to shoot during games. Coach wants to see him gain the confidence he needs to shoot when he’s open, and if he can, Smart wants to keep him. If Evans won’t engage, he’ll continue to be the subject of trade talks."
If nothing else, it shows that the Kings are at least considering a possible trade of Evans if he doesn't bring a jumpshot to the table. Not a shocker! Just a confirmation of suspicions.
You've been to summer league. Do you think Coach Smart would have made that kind of comment? It sounds like someone may have stretched the fine points of the conversation just a bit, you know?
he is only 22 years old....
I think those question are fair and there will always be those doubts until he puts in consistently good seasons. Thanks for posting... At least he's being honest with us and himself. Hopefully all his hard work will pay off. The question that rears its ugly head of course, is why did he wait till it was a contract year to put in the work? And, will he continue to put in the work if he's handed a big contract? Assuming he's successful. I'm not trying to be negative, but one does have to wonder why he didn't do this last year. I'm willing to buy Petrie's reference to maturity, but I do have a little bit of doubt lingering in the back of my mind.
I understand that, and thats why I mentioned maturity. But Michael Kidd Gilchrist just turned 19 years old, and he's busting his butt trying to become better. There's good, and there's great. And the only thing that separates them, is desire. So we'll see.
Marc Spears on the Grant Napear show talking bout Tyreke. says as a GM he would take care of Tyreke's contract right now and not risk anything like a team coming in and offering him a deal they cant match
