In recent years when the Kings played the Jazz I always thought, "I wish the Kings had a guy like Deron." Now the Kings do:D

Great job by Tyreke!!!

Sure, one question. I won't be able to see tonight's game until tomorrow, after the Warriors game. Will Evans destroy GS so thoroughly that the Jazz game will be anticlimactic?

I'd like to hope so, but realistically we shouldn't hope for too much on the second game of a back-to-back. Besides, GSW has Mikki Moore. His presence in the paint might actually be a problem for our young team because Mikki can take a charge better than just about anyone else in the league. Darn it.

But, once again, this thread should be about Reke and his performance tonight. He earned it.

I was expecting this thread and I was not disappointed.

My only question...

Who was that masked man, Kemosabi?

I'm wondering about that one myself. Given their version of defense they should have absolutely no hope of stopping him in there, but on the other hand I have gotten the feeling Reke is actually more comfortable in a halfcourt type setting isolating his man, posting him up etc. than in Nelson's drug induced garbage game. Will be interesting. Another big game though would be a real nice wakeup call to the league though.

So far the Ellis/Curry experiment has been a backcourt dud for the W's. I can't imagine either one of those little guards being able to handle Havoc - especially if he simply posts them all night. To counter that match-up nightmare, I bet Nellie puts Jackson and then Azubuike when he comes in on Reke or maybe he'll just play zone all night.

Im glad to see the Kings front office isnt as dumb as everyone thought they were. Im glad to see Westphal has kept faith in Evans. The takeover has begun.

Not only no questions, but I've never seen such progress in the first 6 NBA games for any rookie, whether 1 yr college or 4. Heck the great Kobe took 3-4 years. I remember one playoff game for Kobe in his 3rd or 4th year when he tossed up 3 airballs in the final quarter, 3!!

Tyreke reminds me somewhat of Lebron his first year only Tyreke shoots better out to 3pt range and is quicker. :D

Watching him tonight was like seeing a huge burden off his shoulders.. Was able to play his game which is basically him doing what he needs to do to score like he did in Memphis.. I think it's a good idea to pair him with a PG.. Kind of like Chalmers to Wade and so on... Take the main ball handling duties off his shoulders but still give him control of the ball the majority of the time to do his thing. Luckily if this is the case we don't need a stud PG.

Awesome game by Evans.

Just don't get it... Ball was in his hands must of the night and created for his team beno played off the ball most of the night yet he was the PG tonight. We musta all been watching different games tonight.

From my viewpoint, we definitely picked the right guy. This was his break-out game. He's shown leadership in just how he presents himself on court. He's shown toughness by not crumbling to the floor, or even showing any pain, when he bit into his tongue on both sides. He's shown on court maturity by not haphazardly passing the ball to anyone, just because he's a rookie and the others are not. And best of all he's brought back some attitude and swagger to the Kings, which I have sorely missed.

tyreke was definitely fantastic tonight. i was very impressed with his on-court leadership. the kings were sans kevin martin, omri casspi, and francisco garcia, and tyreke really took the team on his shoulders and willed them to a very gutsy road win. and, i have to say, i love him as a two-guard. he's got solid playmaking skills, but doesn't seem as comfortable at the point guard as he was at the two tonight. i think some of the pressure comes off when he's at the two, and he's able to settle into the right kinda rhythm, to the tune of seven assists (and more potential assists had thompson not blown a couple of layups). i was also impressed with his effort on the defensive side of the ball. he's gonna continue to learn how to play smarter defense at the nba level, but its hard to say that the effort isn't there already, and that's very encouraging...

the most impressive part to my mind is that he had such a great game on the road against a historically tough utah jazz team. a 20-year old rookie consistently tore right through a very solid and motivated jerry sloan defense. and he did so EFFORTLESSLY, as well. does tyreke ever break a sweat? dude is so composed out there for a rookie. even when he makes a mistake or charges into traffic a bit recklessly, he very quickly shakes it off. his mental and physical maturity at 20 is astounding, and i'm more convinced every day that the kings made the right pick. if he's capable of carving up good defenses like this night after night, and maintains his effort on the defensive side of the ball, there's some serious star (superstar?) potential in this kid...

A breakout game? I suppose so, at least in terms of points, but I thought Evans had had a great game against Chris Paul. Maybe he's the kind of ultra-competitive player that he can step it up to another level when playing against the best players. Because Chris and Deron just might be the two best in the league right now (at PG). Coincidence? I think not.

Tyreke Evans had validated once again what most of us knew and what a few of us had denied upto now - Evans was the better pick than Rubio for the Kings. We got a very capable PG and at the same time a solid back-up SG when we cannot count on Martin.

This 19-year old Kid is amazing.:)
