And in his first year in the NBA, this is going to be easier said than done while he catches himself up to the speed of the game and the defensive prowess of the players he will be going against, not to mention the new offense. However, I don't see the logic behind arguing against the results laid down last night.
He's supposed to be perfect, don't you know? After six games, how dare he make mistakes?

Kobe Bryant makes the occasional mistake; Lebron James makes the occasional mistake. But hey, Tyreke Evans? There's no room for improvement at all allowed.

He should know better than to pound the ball for 20 seconds before doing anything. He did it several times in the 4th. Just standing there on the wing. That has nothing to do with knowing the offense. Do something, anything before the clock hits 5 seconds and you just chuck something up or pass off for a violation. And yes, Beno and others did it as well. But since everyone claims Evans is the point, its his job to get the offense running.
I'm sure he said to himself. Self! Were tired of scoring and passing the ball. Were just going to pound the ball for twenty seconds and then get rid of the sucker and make someone else look bad. It probably had nothing to do with getting bashed in the mouth and biting his tounge. Coming back and facing a very tough Utah defense that just went up a couple of notches and possibly being confused on how to deal with it. For heavens sake. He is 20 years old with one year of college under his belt and in his 6th NBA game. He should have more than enough experience to go up against one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. Just a terrible game by him. Get rid of him. He's not a point guard anyway, right! Right!

While I of course have to applaud the sarcasm, I have been itching to note something for a while here: deepite Sloan;s presence Utah does really not have one of the best defenses in the NBA anymore. In fact hey have been pretty bad for some years now. Deron, Boozer, Okur...none are great defenders. And they have turned into a running team scoing lots of points but getting scored on too. They are still tough and physical, but if anything I'd call defense their achilles at this point.

I didn't get to see the game, I didn't even know that it was on. Looks like Evans had a good game. 32 points and 7 assists... Not bad. Though I kinda called this one. Didn't I say in another thread that he would drop 30 in his first game without Martin? I forget which thread it was, my short term memory isn't always the best.

Was he playing pg? If he did, he sucks because he let Williams drop 29/15..... That's something beno would do. If he was a sg, he was a beast. Brewer only had 8 points....

Hey, he got 7 assists with only 2 turnovers... Unfortunately I won't be watching the warriors game either. Posting here takes too long on my iPhone so you guys won't hear much from me tonight.

Until/unless you can actually see a game and see him - and the rest of the team - play, you need to refrain from making snap judgments. Honestly.

Read the game thread and read Brickie's grades. That will give you a decent idea of what happened. As far as assuming that he let Williams drop 29/15, that's not accurate because starting in the second quarter, the Kings started showing the zone and it really boggled the Jazz collective mind.

I've closed this thread for the simple reason that I feel a sequel may already be in the works. Stay tuned...
