I am waiting for Section 101, AriesMar, and swisssh to contribute their thoughts about Evans' game. It will be very interesting to know what their viewpoints are on Evans's game against the Jazz.:D

I believe something along the lines of "evans is a good SG, tell me something i don't know. He didn't initiate the offense, he couldn't make a play for others to save his life".

Tyreke simply looked liked a seasoned pro against a very tough defensive minded Jazz. I had the best time I've had in years watching a Kings game!
Tyreke is Havoc!

OMG he had a good game. And they still almost blew it in the 4th when the one on one and ball movement stopped. That was mostly Evans pounding the ball till the clock was at 5 seconds then chucking something up or shotclock violation. And dont give me this he's a rookie crap. He's been playing how long and had been in that situation many times. The last 2 min strats don't change much.

This was a team that won it on the defensive end. Everyone stepped up. It happens alot when the main guy goes out. The question is how long will it sustain?

A breakout game? I suppose so, at least in terms of points, but I thought Evans had had a great game against Chris Paul. Maybe he's the kind of ultra-competitive player that he can step it up to another level when playing against the best players. Because Chris and Deron just might be the two best in the league right now (at PG). Coincidence? I think not.
I was thinking the same... no coincidence.
''My confidence is up. When I see guys like D-Will step on the court, I just want to go in there and attack. I want to put the pressure on them and I think I did that tonight,'' Evans said.

Beno this game, and Kmart and Beno also had the same problem against the Hawks holding the ball too long, taking too long to initiate the offensive sets, and making poor decisions.... It seems like the players are still confused by the new offense or maybe the coaching staff isn't getting the plays in fast enough. Don't try to place that blame soley on Evans.

I'd like to hope so, but realistically we shouldn't hope for too much on the second game of a back-to-back. Besides, GSW has Mikki Moore. His presence in the paint might actually be a problem for our young team because Mikki can take a charge better than just about anyone else in the league. Darn it.

But, once again, this thread should be about Reke and his performance tonight. He earned it.
Man! I forgot about Mikki the hit man Moore..

I'm wondering about that one myself. Given their version of defense they should have absolutely no hope of stopping him in there, but on the other hand I have gotten the feeling Reke is actually more comfortable in a halfcourt type setting isolating his man, posting him up etc. than in Nelson's drug induced garbage game. Will be interesting. Another big game though would be a real nice wakeup call to the league though.
Nellie is leaning hard toward a whole new concept called stealth basketball. He's looking for players so small that the other team can't see them.

Paul, Parker and Williams are the best the NBA has to offer at the point guard position. Six games into the season the rook held his own against Paul, got beat by Parker, and more than held his own against Williams. He's a work in progress who just got 32 and 7 against Utah in Utah. It's going to fun watching him get better.

Watching him tonight was like seeing a huge burden off his shoulders.. Was able to play his game which is basically him doing what he needs to do to score like he did in Memphis.. I think it's a good idea to pair him with a PG.. Kind of like Chalmers to Wade and so on... Take the main ball handling duties off his shoulders but still give him control of the ball the majority of the time to do his thing. Luckily if this is the case we don't need a stud PG.

Awesome game by Evans.
I've always said that his game reminds me of Wade. I think its foolish to waste time getting caught up in semantics. It doesn't matter what you call someone as long as they do the job you want done. Last night Evans did that. I would like to remind people though that it was only one game. But I do think that as the season progresses we'll see more and more of those games. Entertaining game to watch, and, we WON!!:D

Even the FO doesn't know what to officially call him (well, they officially started Beno at the 2): http://www.sacbee.com/kings/story/2311407.html

I think the Pistons had this same problem trying to categorize Joe Dumars (hoping and praying SOoooo hard.) I don't think I care what he is, dude's a beast.

With Martin out, it looks like we'll see whether he's gonna start at the 1 or 2 in the long run by trade deadline.;)

Rubio would not have the impact on the game like this kid. On both ends especially on the defensive end.
I'm more than happy with Tyreke. He's the player I wanted. But its not fair to be critical of Rubio when he hasn't had a chance to prove what he can do one way or the other. He may have had just as big an impact, but in a different way.. Now that I've said that. I don't think so. But I wanted to be fair..:)

At this point, it's totally irrelevant to bring Ricky Rubio into any of these discussions. He's apparently quite happy playing for Barcelona as I saw yesterday morning on NBA-TV. If/when he ever comes to the NBA and actually plays some games, then I'd think we might consider talking about comparisons. But, in all honesty, by the time that ever happens I think we'll be so happy with Reke that the vast majority of us won't even respond in a thread about what might have been.

Good lord people, its just one game!
And for one brief shining moment there was Camelot...

Kings fans have waited a very, very, very, very long time and endured some incredibly trying times. Why deny us the chance to celebrate something good for a change?

We are still a very young team with a long way to go. I'm sure we'll be heading back down to earth here very shortly. If you don't share our enthusiasm, no problem. But why rain on our little parade?

Most of the shot clock violations weren't his. He may have dribbled the ball a little too much and may have contributed in that sense. But the ball wasn't in his hands when the clock went off. I know Udoka had one and Beno had one. You have to give Utah credit. They really stepped up the defense.

However, he is a rookie. I'm not sure what your implying. He may have had experience in that situation before, but it was in one year of college or in highschool. Your surely not saying that he should know exactly how and what to do in the NBA based on that, are you? Do you apply that standard to every player at every position that comes into the league in their rookie year? I would hope not..

Evans had a great game. If your not willing to acknowledge that then I don't know what will please you. Whether he's capable of doing that night in and night out, who knows? But for one night, and on a night when no one expected it, all was well with the world.:)

i think everybody is aware of the fact that its just one game...

if kenny thomas was "breaking out" for 32 points and 7 assists, we could all agree on the game as an aberration. but it wasn't over-the-hill-and-through-the-woods kenny thomas. it was the kings 20-year old rookie. "one game" on the road against a tough defense and one of the best pg's in the league is a pretty good measuring stick for 'reke to this point, if ya ask me...

and really, its just nice to have something to look forward to as a kings fan in 2009. spencer hawes is still a rather large and soft question mark at the center position. jason thompson shows flashes, but will he ever put it all together? i find kevin martin's future in sacramento uncertain given the arrival (and possible emergence) of tyreke evans. will the injury-plagued martin make good trade bait? and we all know the kings future in sacramento is uncertain. but tyreke evans is as close as the kings have gotten to a "sure thing" in many years, and its exciting...

Funny how last night when Tyreke was abusing the Jazz at pg, we didn't hear anything from the Tyreke bashers. Well, after watching last nights game, nobody can objectively say Tyreke can't play the point in the nba.

The first 5 games Tyreke was getting hammered on here by a select few, and last night those select few were nowhere to be seen. I guarantee if Tyreke doesn't have a good game tonight the critics will come back out from under the wood work, completely ignoring what he did last night.

In general, how can anyone find fault in what Tyreke did last night? His clock management could use some work, and will improve over time, but other than that he absolutely more than held his own against a top 5 pg on their home court in his 6th nba game.

He should know better than to pound the ball for 20 seconds before doing anything. He did it several times in the 4th. Just standing there on the wing. That has nothing to do with knowing the offense. Do something, anything before the clock hits 5 seconds and you just chuck something up or pass off for a violation. And yes, Beno and others did it as well. But since everyone claims Evans is the point, its his job to get the offense running.

And in his first year in the NBA, this is going to be easier said than done while he catches himself up to the speed of the game and the defensive prowess of the players he will be going against, not to mention the new offense. However, I don't see the logic behind arguing against the results laid down last night.

They may both get 30 pts a piece, because we ALL know there wont be ANY defense being played tonight by either team. :D
That's going to be interesting to see if that is true. Are we going to watch the old Kings who would participate in the No-D Warriors game, or are we going to see some new Kings like Udoka and Evans who might not want to play that game?
