I would think in the next few days before July 1st, Tellem will make it clear to PDA, either you're committing to Reke at PG or just say otherwise and we'll start looking at other options. Pretty sure it would be point blank, either Reke is your PG next season or cut ties and move on. There is no other option. Reke at SG next to whatever type of a PG you want is no longer possible.

I tend to agree! Hopefully it's just a negotiation tactic and Reke agrees to contract with us very soon after July 1

I called one of my acquaintances in Reke's camp. They were shocked about the rumor that Carmichael Dave tweeted about yesterday. Took them by surprise. Not surprised his agent told him to detach himself from the organization till a deal is done. He's flying out somewhere out East to prepare for free agency.

I am not surprised. He loves Sacramento and wants to be here! His camp and some of us know who CD's sources are (or you should if you follow him on twitter). Carmichael Dave has his contacts and he has not been wrong during this entire saga. I genuinely hope it's a smokescreen by the new ownership group and their intention is to re-sign Tyreke and go ahead with Evans-McLemore backcourt.

If this rumor is from anyone other than CD, I would not give it my credibility but the guy has been legit in the last few months! I genuinely hope Tyreke is part of the plans going forward and he stays! I don't like planning around scoring big in next year's draft because that is a lottery in every sense of the word!

It's been mentioned before, but has CD actually been legit in the last few months on personnel issues? Has he been consistently right about what the Sac front office was planning before this year either?

Dave had sources in the relocation fight and was always right about that, but that's no surprise. He was working with KJ and others to help keep the team in Sac. There's a big difference between the sources that he had there and whatever source might be telling him the Kings plans for free agency.

Doesn't mean he's wrong, but it does mean there's no reason to base your faith in his word regarding free agency on his record during the relocation/team sale fight.

I hate to say it but if we let tyreke walk for nothing, and our back court doesn't look better than what Reke/McLemore would have been, i will honestly lose a lot of trust with the front office. A potential "all-star back court that could have been" is not what i want to think about as one of the first decisions from the front office...

My theory is there's no way we're letting Reke go. We're planning on matching any offer he receives. He's our pg of the future... the McLemore pick solidifies that belief for me. McLemore is a non-ball dominant guy. The new fo has said that we have talent, just mismatched. McLemore is helping to fix that situation. Think of a starting lineup of Cousins/JT/Salmons/McLemore/Reke. You have two guys who don't need the ball in JT and McLemore. You have two 3pt shooters who can space the floor for Reke and Cousins in Salmons and McLemore. You have two guys that can really finish a fast break in Reke/McLemore. You have two guys who can bring the ball up in Reke/Salmons. You have plenty of size and offensive rebounding. Imo this is the starting five we're envisioning for 2013.

The following is my ranking of the top 30 free agents of 2013, sorted by the average annual value (AAV) of the new contracts I believe each player deserves under the rules of the CBA. To make my contract value estimates, I used many of the same factors that I used as a member of the Phoenix Suns' front office: age, injury history, value of recent comparable player contracts, irreplaceability of skill set, contribution to winning, history of production, fit with style and culture, marketability and current cap situation, among other things.

The sale of the Kings and the subsequent house cleaning of the front office and coaching staff changes very little for Evans. He needs a fresh start, and to play around new people so that he can redefine who he is as a player and recapture some of that magic he had as a rookie. The trick is to get an offer sheet that Sacramento won't be inclined to match, without breaking the bank. I dropped his AAV slightly but added a fourth year to the deal, so that he can opt out but still retain full Bird rights.

Yes, Section, this is the general market I am seeing for him in relation to other FAs (obviously we will probably pay more than 7.75).. I have said, and will continue to say that I will be flabbergasted if some other team comes in with 10+ for him

Agreed. I think there are a number of teams with cap space. Some are trying to position for one of the big names. Some are smaller markets. But there will be money to throw around and a few places are going to be left with a lot of space. It wouldn't be crazy to see a random big deal tossed at Reke.

Reke's RFA status will scare teams with cap space off early. I doubt you see a serious offer for him from anyone until CP3, Howard, Smoove, Al Jeff, Millsap all sign. That will be a fairly telling sign as to Reke's status with us. If he wants to test the market he'll wait for them to be done, which is bad for us. If he wants to stick around, we'll get him locked up early

i actually expect howard to make this decision rather quickly, if only to shed some of that indecisive reputation he's created for himself these last few seasons. it's fairly clear that he doesn't want to stay in los angeles, and while he may entertain atlanta, it's gonna be a contest between houston and dallas, as far as i can tell...

that said, dallas is just doing their diligence, crafting a gameplan should howard choose to sign elsewhere. gotta give mark cuban and his front office credit: they're always thinking, always moving, always considering every option available to improve their team...

Is that what they should get paid or will get paid? Yeah, Tyreke is going to make 2 million more a year than Jason Thompson. I totally see that happening.

I am confident that Tyreke likes it here because of all the little things coming out of his camp but I am yet to be convinced that our ownership and front office are committed to Tyreke Evans.

Fans are notorious for giving up what the player might be worth now but in the NBA, young players don't necessarily get paid for their production. They get paid for their potential production. Was Brooke Lopez worth the max when he signed it? NO! Was Curry worth $10-11 million per season when he signed his extension? No! Was DeRozen worth it? No!

Young players ALWAYS get paid on potential production not what they have done to date! Cousins, right now is probably not worth the max but he is worth every penny over the length of the deal!

Reke's injury history isn't so bad as to be troubling. He had the plantar fasciitis one season, but nothing really chronic going on. He may never give you 82, but there's no signs he's breaking down.
