Tyreke Evans in NBA.com Race to the MVP

This list is an opinion piece, but it is nice to see that we aren't the only ones who want to see Evans get into the allstar game. According to the feature, tyreke is one of the top 10 most valuable players in the league, which would mean he is destined to be an allstar, but this is not the case. This article helps, and so does everyone voting for T-mac and Yao, but according to the numbers, he doesn't even register on the AS2k10 vote count.

Gone are the days of watching us play a team thinking "man why can't we have a guy like that?"

The Earth will explode the day a guy in a Kings uni gets the superstar treatment. I can't wait.

Yeah! I think his post was more about the recognition than the reality of it. Its been a while..:)

Agreed, its more about the fact that people are recognizing Tyreke is legit, In reality we all know Tyreke wont win MVP, but ROY is a much different story, keep up the good work Tyreke! You are very quickly winning over all of Sacramento!! (if you havent already).:D

As much as I'm happy for Tyreke's success, in terms of ROY, I'll be careful and closely watching Blake Griffin's come back.

Unless Blake comes back right away, I don't see any chance of it happening. I just read an article this morning that talks about Blake's situation and the players in history that won the ROY award while playing the least amount of games.

Patrick Ewing played 50 games and still won. (NOTE: Thats the lowest # of games played for any ROY in history). If Blake comes back as scheduled in early Jan, he would play a max of 49 games. Ewing averaged 20pts & 9rebs in those 50 games. Playing with Camby and Kaman, I don't think he'll be able to do that kind of #s. Thats considering Blake can have no rookie effect and come out at top form after a knee injury right from his first game.

Also, the most important thing is what Tyreke and Jennings are doing is incredible. Even if Blake wasn't injured, I don't see how Blake would be able to beat out 20, 5 & 5.

The bottom line is that Reke won't win the mvp. Can he finish in the top 10 and get a vote? Maybe, depending on how the Kings finish up.

But, and this is the golden lining, we Kings fans are not the only ones who have noticed him and are talking about him. Tyreke has put the Kings back on the map, and now everyone wants to catch a glimpse of this kid. This sure is fun!

Good to see Evans getting lots of credit. I remember right after we drafted him there were a bunch of people on here that were acting like Evans had absolutely no idea how to pass the ball or what a pass was. Silly.

I love how we’re finally starting to get recognition in the basketball world. I love it!...I also think that Paul W. also needs to get respect because he’s really giving Tyreke a lot of freedom.

People are missing the point here -- of course Evans isn't going to win MVP this year, but our 20yr old rookie just appeared in the Top 10 of the MVP rankings. I wonder when the last time that happened was? I wonder IF there was a last time that happened?

Just for info... they had Jennings at #10 a few weeks earlier.

Sure Tyreke won't win the MVP... this yr. But its incredible to be mentioned with these other veterans and ex mvps.

Jennings was there for one 55 point outburst, where he took 34 shots. It takes Tyreke 2 games to take 34 shots. Evans is there because he is playing like he deserves it over a long stretch of games, as opposed to just one breakout game, a couple really good ones, and then a bunch of mediocre to 'why the **** are you taking so many shots' games.

Jennings is clearly a baby A.I. I also dont really like his attitude, he seems very me first, its all about me, i dont need no stinkin' college! Im glad we didnt draft him.

Yeah for those who don't understand the point of my post, it IS about the recognition and credit being given to a 20 year old rookie

I think if we even make the playoffs reke should win mvp, especially if we beat the suns in the 1st round. Just as the original article that is my valid opinion to myself. To go from 17 wins to a playoff contender with really just 2 additions, reke and omri, I label that as very valuable.

I am being serious when I say this, but as far as passing went he wasn't even the best passer on Memphis. Anderson was a more fluid passer, and could see the floor better.. Of course Evans was the best ball handler on the team, and the best overall player. When you have a mix of those two that guy better have the ball..

I still don't think Evans will be a prototypical PG in the NBA, but if a combo guard gets us wins then I am all for it. In his case I don't think it will really matter whether or not he's a pure PG. I still like the idea of putting him in the back court with a Derek Fisher type player to help with some of the normal everyday PG duties like bringing it up in "set offenses" or whatever.

I just hope he does not take a back seat when Martin comes back like he did at the start of the season because he was largely ineffective when he let K-Mart control the tempo.

Ball should be in Evans hands. K mart should go back to what he was originally revered for -moving without the ball. In fact Kevin being a poor ball handler can benefit largely from Tyreke's game, but it's a psychological mindset that he isn't the head honcho anymore that will be the biggest problem IMO. Tyreke drive and kick to good shooter who can also draw a foul if Evans makes the rookie mistake he so often does of initiating the offense too late. Off Evan's drive and kick, Kmart will also have a much more open lane to drive in from outside
