watching lakers on top of the west. number 1 seed. and without shaq, fox, horry etc. only 2 players remain. fisher, bryant. they found a way to dominate again. and we're still finding ways to stink it up. im a tad jealous. take edward scissor hands, thomas, salmons and reggie (with his calling timeouts being down 50) and get em out of here. i know theres more of us looking at the standings saying wtf.

it wouldnt stink being a kingsfan if the lakers and other rivals werent as good as they are. back to back seasons of missing the playoffs. i wonder what we'll do with thomas and moore next year. artest might change his mind again and opt out

You can't compare us to the Lakers. They've had Kobe all along and they're a big market team to boot.

Having said that, I like being a Kings fan and wouldn't trade places with a Lakers fan for anything. I hate the Lakers.

Dude, this is a team in a transitional phase. New coach, new players some cap room maybe after the season. You can't live and die by every single game. If they had beat the magic yesterday would you have even started this thread? Probably, as your board name gives that away. You just like the attention you get by starting somewhat retarded threads.
And so what about LA, like it was already mentioned, they have Kobe. End of story. And now he has some help again.
We all knew it was going to take a few seasons to get back to a playoff caliber team. Trading Bibby just speeded it up, so relax man and lets see if we can get to .500.

God forbid he should use garbage time on the road to coach the younger players. What is he doing? Get him out of here!

That timeout was ridiculous. Just grandstanding.

Playing the kids in garbagetime is good. Being a tool and holding up the game for no reason is not.

Not a reason to fire the guy, but come on now.

thanks. and i agree. you wana teach the kids give them playing time. you learn more by doing. i dont know. just do something different theus. moore gets 25 minutes a game.

I could care less about the Lakers success. I care about our team and the only thing that sucks right now is the quality in players that we have (and their fat contracts) from SAR, Thomas and Moore. And then we have the wonderful attitude of John who can’t seem to come off the bench. And Ron who still thinks that we’re going to be a 6th seed this year. Plus there’s always that oh-so frustrating lack of passing game that we have.

Oh we have the passing game. We just choose not to use it. When your as good as we are, who needs to pass the ball?

Lakers can be first but they aint gonna win the championship. There are teams like SA, Detroit, Boston, and perhaps Phoenix who can step it up a notch and have playoff mentality. Those teams are better than one-man team in the south.

the only downside to being a kings fan right now is knowing that thomas, reef, artest and moore are still on the team... if the kings can somehow draft a pg we'll be okay... thats assuming williams pans out or we draft a pf as well...

I thought that they learned that they can win games when they pass the ball but I’m sure some of them think that they’re above it. Passing is so overrated. one-on-one is the way to win games and become the 6th seed (or any seed) in the west. lol We have slashers in Kevin, Cisco and Douby and yet the only player who seems to know how to play the team/passing game is Brad, luckily we have Spencer following in his footsteps. On a happier note, Ron is getting semi-better.

What does the resurgence of the Lakers have to do with our mediocrity? We our on different ends of the spectrum. I don't particularly like seeing the Lakers on top, but they do have the best player in the game and then some.

A true fan stays a fan, in the up years AND in down years. I was a season ticket holder from 1990 to 1997 before I moved to the coast in 1998. And boy, were the Kings bad in those years. But we filled Arco Arena and had a good time at the games and enjoyed NBA basketball. Heck, during that relative disaster perior, we once saw the Kings set an NBA record that still stands: most points in 2 consecutive games by two teams:560 points (I think), and in one a 50 pt blowout, both of which the Kings won.

Fair weather Kings fans only are fans in good times, when the Kings are winning. Those are not the TRUE fans, whose egos are put aside to watch NBA basketball. Fair weather fans buy the T-shirt of an All-Star but not of a core player who has been with the team 3, 4 or 5 years.

If you are a new and young fan who started with the Kings during the run of 8 consecutive 50 win seasons, sure your disappointed now, we all are, but that is the reality of the NBA. Supporting your home team through thick and thin is what its all about (not the hokey pokey!!!). :D

I've stated this again and again -- no more polemics on who/what is a "true fan". At best its pointless -- its not something you teach. At worst its insulting and self-righteous. Its odd how every single take on the nature of true fandom I have ever seen has rather closely mirrored the fan style of the person making the post.

I think we can rule out every logical motivation for being a fan, anyway. It can't be about success, or you're a bandwagoneer. It can't be about civic pride, because many of us have long lived nearer to other teams, or, in some cases, have never even visited California. It can't be about the players, or so we are admonished every time a favorite player gets traded away. It can't be about the GM, since some fans would like him replaced. If it were about the coach, we would have stopped being fans last year. If it were about loyalty to Maloof Sports and Entertainment, then we'd see mass changes of fan base every time a team sold, but we don't.

About the only reason left is, "because I feel like it." And there really isn't much that anybody else can say about that.

You can no more define being a sports fan than you can catalog snowflakes. Trying to do so just makes you nuts.

Forget about it

im no longer wasting time baffling about this year. its become extensively repetitive and im getting more bitter by the minute. so, with that said our playoff chances are gone. we'll never hit .500. what do you want to see next year? i want to see a new starting center, a new starting shooting gaurd, and i want salmons, thomas and moore gone. yes i said i new starting shooting guard. ron is obviously our best player and tho he may be a tad frustrating to watch sometimes he's aggressive. he's not a bystander like kevin martin. which reminds us so much of peja. we should keep beno, shelden, spencer, garcia, douby, artest and try to shop miller, martin, moore, salmons and buyout mr. baby hook shot Thomas.
