For your viewing pleasure, the original Tropical Island Movie Draft thread can be found here.

The Finals will pit the champions from each division against one other. The winner of the Kansas City Division:, Jerryaki, versus the winner of the Sacramento Division:, Bricklayer.

The results from the Final Four were as follows
:

Kansas City Division:

1. Jerryaki d. 2. LoungeLizard 12-9

Sacramento Division:

2. Bricklayer d. 1. Löwenherz 15-6

Large upset in the latter division. I was surprised as Lowen had been my pick to win since the end of the draft. By the way, I added in what would have been my votes that I never got around to putting in.

Note to the two finalists: Please abstain from voting as it will have no bearing on the outcome of the poll. If you do somehow accidentally vote, let me know so I can adjust the tally

An epic #1 v. #2 matchup. Good luck to both of you. The poll ends in 5 days and is private. Happy voting!

sorry Brick,

As much as I would really enjoy watching the movies on your list...there's no way I'm not choosing Dead Poets and The Princess Bride, two of my all time favorite movies.

To me it really came down to these titles and for long-term enjoyment I had to go with Brick. Sorry, J.

Jerryaki has more great movies (as in great movies for me to want to watch over and over again) and more movies I think I'd enjoy watching overall. He wins.

Brick has a Lord of the Rings movie...

...advantage Jerryaki.

OK...honestly, I'm torn because Brick has more I like. But that LOTR is just sitting there...festering...

seeing as how it's pretty even right now, i'd like to make the following announcement:

now, you all know throughout this movie draft that brick has made numerous references to island hopping so that you can enjoy the movies & popcorn on his island. but i promise you, vote for me and i will NETFLIX over my movies to your island! you don't even have to leave the hypothetical comfort of your fake island to enjoy the movies on my list!

vote jerryaki 2008!!!!

Sorry, Jerryaki, can't do it. Fact is, I haven't seen too many of either of your lists, but among the ones I have, you each have one movie from my Top Ten non-Kung Fu movies list (The Princess Bride/Good Will Hunting), so then it came down to which one of you had more movies from my Most Hated list, and you have two (American History X/The Godfather... and yes, I am one of the three hetero males in North America who hates The Godfather), and Bricklayer has none. So, I had to go with him.

you misread, that's not "american history X" and "godfather II" that's "enter the dragon" and "frasier: the complete series." :D

Jerryaki all the way! Sorry Brick, just find it hard to see how you even got this far...

Then again maybe I just have strange taste!

Godfather I get, but you don't like American History X?

Let's see... So far I think I voted for Jerryaki and Bricklayer in their previous matchups. If I were to list only the movies that I would include in my extended list (no draft, just list of movies to take to desert island), here is what I came up with:

(1) Jerryaki
1.04 - The Godfather - 1972
2.13 - The Usual Suspects - 1995
5.04 - The Princess Bride - 1987
6.13 - The Sixth Sense - 1999
10.13 - There's Something About Mary - 1998

4.09 - Batman Begins - 2005
6.09 - Good Will Hunting- 1997
10.09 - The Outlaw Josey Wales - 1976
18.09 - The Road Warrior (Mad Max 2) - 1981
19.08 - The 40 Year Old Virgin - 2005

Tie - 7:7.

Coin toss (Jerryaki heads, Brick tails)... Tails. OK, best of three, Tails again.

Sorry Jerryaki, I tried. ;)

despite jerraki having movies that i absolutely HAATE, his top 3 picks were movies that i wanted and at one time or another were my favorite movie so he got my vote.

Godfather I get, but you don't like American History X?
I tend not to like movies that evoke visceral reactions in me. Plus, I don't like Edward Norton as an actor; he's only been in two movies I didn't hate, and one of them had Salma in it, and the other one had Charlize Theron in it.

Sorry Brick, just find it hard to see how you even got this far...

Must have been pure luck.

Certainly could not have anything to do with selecting a broad swath of the most entertaining and popular comedies and action flicks of all time. It would not, in fact, surprise me if my list has the highest aggregate imdb score in the entire draft. To whit:

Last of the Mohicans 7.7
The Matrix 8.6
Monty Python & the Holy Grail 8.5
Batman Begins 8.4
Naked Gun 7.6
Good Will Hunting 8.0
The Thing 8.1
Pride & Prejudice 7.8
Serenity 8.0
The Outlaw Josey Wales 7.8
Clueless 6.6
The Hunt For Red October 7.6
Rambo 7.4
Escape From Alcatraz 7.5
The Blood of Heroes 6.2
Tremors 7.1
Searching For Bobby Fischer 7.5
The Road Warrior 7.6
The 40 Year Old Virgin 7.5
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 8.6

These are rather well regarded movies.

I did the only thing I could. I matched each person's pick list, one by one, against its opponent on the other list. It was incredibly close - the final tally for me was 10-9, with one abstention where I didn't really like either one of the choices in a particular round.

Winner: Bricklayer

Last of the Mohicans 7.7
The Matrix 8.6
Monty Python & the Holy Grail 8.5
Batman Begins 8.4
Naked Gun 7.6
Good Will Hunting 8.0

'Scuse me whilst I bitterly harumph, but... my list came out to 152.7 on IMdB.

And, just for tradepeja, it's got an average Tomatometer rating of 81.8% fresh. That's WITH two controversial outliers at 52 and 56%.

Wow, i'm not going to check your math, but if it really came out to nearly 82% that's very impressive. Really. Maybe I should watch more on your list than just Fight Club.

Hey, I'm a proud member of the Lowenherz 6...

a 9.2 for dark knight? it was good and all, but come on now...

Hey, I didn't rate it; I just picked it. But you'll be happy to know it's dropped to 9.1 since yesterday. Maybe people are coming to their senses, eh? :)

And as a side note, I have three movies in IMDb's top ten (Dark Knight, Good/Bad/Ugly and Pulp Fiction) six of the top 20 (Casablanca, Seven Samurai, LOTR: Fellowship) and half my list appears in the top 250, not including MST3K's gaudy 9.5 which was ineligiible for all the 'fanboy" voting.

That being said, I think Brick should beat you and voted accordingly. I only really like "The Princess Bride" on your list and can't imagine The Sixth Sense or The Usual Suspects having great replay value on a desert island.

Then again, I clearly don't have my finger on the pulse of kingsfans movie tastes.

Which is pretty embarrassing for an EMT.
