Ok, I believe its my turn... I'm gonna go with:
"Quarter to Three" - Gary U.S. Bonds (1961)
[yt=Quarter to Three]hoopfp5iaKw[/yt]
Just a raunchy sounding feel good party tune. Sometimes I don't need any other reason.

Hey guys, sorry about the delay..hopefully it's not to late , I'll be home tomorrow at 3ET..

Anyways if I can make a selection I'll take ..

Sing for the moment - eminen

I can't wait to hear what I get for this pick... I suggest you listen to it before you write it off as a horrible eminen song.
Seeing as Eminem is probably the best and most consistent rapper of the past decade, I don't get why you'd think there'd be this stigma against Eminem songs.

Its true that rap isn't tops on most people's lists here at Kingsfans, but plenty of us enjoy good hip hop and Eminem has produced or performed plenty of it in the past few years. A few of his albums went in the album draft and I took Chronic 2001, a Dre album that he was a huge part of.

I like the Eminem song you picked, its not one of my top favorites of his, but definitely one of his best musically.

With the last pick of round 7, I go for my girl Cyndi...

Okay, here you go. The first pick for Round 8:

All My Rowdy Friends - Hank Williams, Jr.

[yt=Rowdy Friends]rVpfUURpoVc[/yt]

My island wouldn't be complete without something from Bocephus. And with this one, I can replay my favorite NFL football games in my head - or establish my OWN football league.

Next pick for me:
"Headache" - Frank Black (Teenager of the Year - 1994)
[yt=Headache]CBBu2O7Eioo[/yt]
During the 80s I was too wrapped up in punk and thrash metal to properly appreciate the Pixies until I got to college in Boston where their members had all gone off to solo and side projects and side projects of those side projects and other related acts all seemed to dominate the local indie scene when I got there. This is my favorite of that whole lot. Like a number of the better known Pixies tunes this one features an irresistible pop hook with simple lyrics that are a lot more complex than the simple words that put them together.

Well looking at this draft alone not much if any 'rap' has been selected so to break the ice with eminem can make some noice .. sorry about the spelling error :confused: thats what typing on a phone does to yah..

anyways Im home so next go around ill be sure to send my pm's .. thanks for being patient.

Next Selection --

Dave Matthews Band - The Christmas Song

Deffinetly not his most popular song but if im on a island all alone with an ipod im going to want something to remind me of christmas, even though this song has more to do with the 'real meaning of christmas' than the whole santa bit. Either way this is an excellent song ... any dave matthews fans should check it out if they havent herd it.

By the way, if anyone knows how to post videos from youtube or other sites on here and would like to PM me how or just tell me here that would be appreciated :)

ipod directs me to select....

Reasons - Earth Wind and Fire - Gratitude

[yt=Reasons]pEee-Mc-PQc&feature=related[/yt]

The song itself is one of my favorites, but the extended live version is a stone cold EWF classic. I saw Phillip Bailey in some sort of concert in Sacramento not too very long ago and allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll of us in the audience kept yelling "REASONS" until he actually finally got to it in his set and stopped teasing every couple of songs with the signature opening strains of it. Fun times....great great song. :)

I'll post youtube link at some point later I 'spose...

EDIT...hope this works, lucky for me there are quite a few live versions of this song [chills] [/chills] but not THE version I want, but it this was was smokin!

Time for pick #8 eh? Time to bring out the funk. I've gotta have more funk. So here is one to satisfy my island funk cravings nicely. Classic riff, great vocals, and yes, family friendly enough for Sesame Street.

Stevie Wonder - Superstitious - Talking Book (1973)

No PM...

Next pick:

Yellow - Coldplay - Parachutes

[yt=Coldplay - Yellow]qI8I6qcxWyU[/yt]

Again, just about any Coldplay song would make me happy, but I had to go with the first one I ever heard from them. I think it remains my favorite.

Cool. Since it doesn't really involve any kind of rule change - and since there are still about a bazillion songs for me to try and choose from - I like it.

:)

Yeah Warhawk notified me.

Okay, this is going to seem like a sheep pick, but its more of a scardey pick. So many Smashing Pumpkins songs have gone, all of them great, just not my favorite. I'm glad you guys all have the wrong favorite :D. IF this was taken, I could've easily took any of the others though, but this still holds the #1 for me as far as Pumpkins songs goes and is one of the best alt rock tracks ever.

Disarm - Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream

tradepeja is on the clock.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

We are officially going to 30 rounds.
Awesome. Thanks.

I think I will make my last 5 choices instrumentals or songs that have only a couple spoken words/samples at best. Something a little different and fun for the "extras" we just added. ;)

My next pick is.....

(Don't Fear) The Reaper - Blue Öyster Cult - Agents of Fortune

I was hoping this would slip and it did. My team of supersongs is slowly coming together.. mwuahahahha!

hell, I'm going to need every one just to express my main list, and even so there are a lot of tough choices whether to go one hit fun wonder, or sub in a single song to represent an entire genre etc. Does feel freer at 30 though. Enough breathing room to explore a few more things.

? Fairly famous song DMass. ;)

P.S. Woohoo -- maybe gets back to me today. Only 4 peeps, including two commisioners and one moderator. We should just skip that SacKings7 guy though even though he's back -- he's been bombing all around my lists. Only got one direct hit (Hotel California), but too many close calls. In fact can we just ban him? :D

top 5 sketch all-time on SNL, easy

[yt=Don't Fear the Reaper]ZhSkRHXTKlw[/yt]

My all-time favorite line from SNL is in this sketch when Chris Walken says in the way only he can

"I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell."

Oh, I have a lot more "regular" songs I could use, but I have lots of instrumental-type songs I like as well, and this is a chance for me to branch out in that direction and still keep the "regular" songs I want. Just a little something that could set the list apart from others. Probably not in a good way when it comes time to vote, but what the heck. ;) I figured I'd lose again, anyways.

Okay Bricklayer I'm gonna give you a break :p. I'm gonna go in a different direction here, so I doubt this is on your list. Might be on some other peoples though..

Stan - Eminem (Feat. Dido) - The Marshall Mathers LP

I don't think I should post a link to it. I found a censored version of the song, but the video may not even be appropriate for this board. If you haven't heard the song (most of you probably have), then it's on youtube

Stan

WARNING: Disturbing video/language

Well that was interesting --that's one way to get aroudn the stealin....er...I mean sampling issue -- just bring in the artist who wrote the original song and make her a part of the project. Its really almost more of a remix of Dido's song with a severely twisted rap track over the top.

He's becoming famous for that. He did that with a song by Heart on Encore as well
