Training Camp updates

More notes from DAY 2

  • The Battle of the Kings shooters
Via Jason Jones in the Bee said:
At least 30 minutes had passed since the end of practice. But that didn't stop Pooh Jeter, Connor Atchley and Joe Crawford from engaging in a spirited three-point shooting contest.

Jeter eventually won.

Here's an article from Kings Connect. It also includes the same videos. Take it with a grain of salt since it is written by those working for the Kings. But I think its fair..

I couldn't find the link?

Wow! How cool is this? Van Gogh on a Kings fan site as a reference. Gotta love it. Maybe being a little nuts will help the Kings bigs..??

van gogh loved them. =(

Still more chatterbugging? Would love to see them in action just once.

Still, thx for the updates. Preseason isn't actually that much different than TDOS wihtout these little windows.

Donte Greene. Athletic, 6' 11", and all at 250 lbs.

Nice.

It seems like we are about to have a SF who could also be developed into a legit PF option (ala-Lamar Odom).

Wait. How many players do we have now standing at 6' 11" and weighing at least 250 lbs?

1. Whiteside ( 7' 0", 250 lbs. )
2. Dalembert ( 6' 11", 250 lbs. )
3. Cousins ( 6' 11", 270 lbs. )
4. Thompson ( 6' 11", 250 lbs. )
5. Greene ( 6' 11", 250 lbs. )

Any two or three of these guys play like an an All-Star ( or at least an extraordinary defensive game ) this season and I bet we'll be in the playoffs.

does anyone know how much Demarcus weighted in at this training camp? wonder if he lost some more weight

Am I the only one who is thinking training camp coverage is lame this year? Yes, I am excited about the start of the season, it may never be enough... but I'm really feeling like they are holding out........... what do I want to see?... More of anything from the usual sources! IMO this is the quietest camp ever....

Patience, fellow Kings fan. This is but the calm before the storm of Reke DMC.

Agreed. I think the Kings staff is getting their first full and up close look at the big guy and they are being cautious in how and what they tell the public about him, both for his sake, and for ours. I think they are just keeping it a little bit of a closed circle to protect what is developing. The container must be sealed for the reaction to take place.

"I have big expectations for us dis upcoming season looking forward to making playoffs we gone surprise alot of ppl dis year let's go Kings!! " Tyreke Evans twitter

Sounds good

Everyday its the same thing. All I hear about is Pooh Jeter and how he is the best player on the floor. How Jeter and JT came in the best shape. Jeter is faster than everybody. We got one blurb saying DMC looked good. Now I hear Jeter, Head, and Darnell Jackson were the best in yesterdays practice. LOL I hope coach Westphal is holding thing close to the vest. Because not once have I heard Tyrekes name.

Day 4 notes

And so it begins.....

Scott Howard Cooper via Twitter said:
DeMarcus Cousins slow motor already an issue before camp is even a week old. Uh-oh. The last thing the Kings wanted to see.

Westphal, re: Cousins work ethic: “It’s interesting. I think he thinks he’s working hard. But he’s not working as hard as he’s gonna work.”

More good news, another injury!

Jason Jones via twitter said:
Hassan Whiteside (strained left patella tendon) is day-to-day. He was hurt at the start of last night's practice.

And Carl Landry has been "rusty" (must have been that extra spin cycle, sorry! http://www.kingsfans.com/forums/showthread.php?78-There-is-no-topic/page215)

Jason Jones said:
He's admittedly not playing well right now. Though coach Paul Westphal would tell you most of the Kings are struggling from the floor, Landry is clearly bothered by his slow start to training camp.

So basically; Cousins is already dogging it, everyone is really rusty, and our best player is undrafted Pooh?

GO KINGS!!!

Desmond Mason and Sean May were in our starting 5 to begin last season. I think I notice a trend here. And I like it.

Yeah, no kidding! If they trot out a lineup of Jeter, Darnell Jackson, and Luther Head to start the season Slamson might have to get used to living on a billboard.

Thank you for this post! It is always great to have this information all on one place. I am excited about all the youth and size the Kings have now. Athletic players with Size is something the Kings really have lacked the past few years, and to see so many young and athletic big men is exciting. I know they are young and have a lot to learn, and that having so much youth will not have much impact on the overall win total, but in the big picture the Kings appear to be heading in the right direction. I think Cousins will have the biggest impact followed by Whiteside. Cousins has more experience having played more college ball, but Whiteside has a lot of upside and will gain a lot of experience as the year rolls on. If the Kings can find a good outside shooter from the several they have in camp, they will be very competitive this year. Certainly their rebounding and interior defense should improve, and Tyreke should be better with another year under his belt, and hopefully this will translate into a few more wins and a more competitive team.
