Don Nelson, is that you?YEAH! Let's get another overpaid SF! Hey I've got an idea. Why don't we trade everyone on our team that isnt a SF for other SFs and have a whole team of SFs. We'd be extremely versatile. Great idea!!!!
I'd trade Kevin for the #1 or 2 pick. Wouldn't bother me. Of course, one was thinking the Kings wouldn't have to do that. BLAH
But, I find it funny now to think about that original Hedo trade. We did it to get another big man to guard Shaq and because management and coaches thought Peja was the better player, so that losing Hedo wouldn't cost the team as much. Years later, Peja is still a one dimensional player that has been dropping off year by year, Brad is the pussiest big man to earn 10 mill and Hedo is an all-star that is making the big plays on a contender.
Okay, Martin isn't that young anymore -- minor point, but people have to quit talking about a 26 yr old as if he is going to make major strides. You are what you are at that age. That wasn't actually what I was going to post about here, but felt it needed to be said. He in no way can be lumped with guys like Spencer anymore on the development curve. As an aside, Gerald did take a few years to blossom...at the ripe old age of 22/23. Anything past 25 = very rare.
Okay, what I was going to mention, and this applies to Kevin as well as any of other our current contracts, is that we are under the cap, and many of our potential trading partners are under the cap too. So the matching salaries rules are not going to apply to trades between those sorts of teams.
Uhh... no we didn't.As far as the rest of your post, there is a chronological order to all of those things, and taken in that order, they made sense at the time. At the time Hedo was traded, you would be hard pressed to find many people that thought he was a better player than Peja. And, we did come close to winning a championship with Miller.
