Trade Deadline Rumors

Here's the thing with the Henson or Jones scenario. Right now Jones looks expendable on the Houston team. With the acquisition of Smith, he's just not getting any minutes. So acquiring him seems possible. Not so with Henson. With the probably exit of Sanders, Henson has become a valuable part of the Bucks team. So to my mind, Jones is a real possibility, and Henson is just a dream.
I would agree with you here.

Only counter point being the Kings have actually talked to the Bucks recently (if you can believe reports) with Stauskas being the player discussed. No talks between Houston that we know of.

But I agree with your premise. Jones should be the easier get.

Yeah, to the best of my knowledge there hasn't been any conversations between the Kings and the Rockets. But just because we haven't heard of any discussions doesn't mean there haven't been any. Probably just wishful thinking on my part.

Why not just do Nik straight up for Jones. The salaries match. The minute you add JT, or Landry, not you've complicated the deal with the necessity of having to add other players to make the salaries match again. If I'm doing that, then I'll just trade them Landry straight up for Jones, and any enders they want to throw in. They know Landry since he played there before. That way you move JT to the backup Center/PF position and start Jones next to Cousins and for the most part go with a three many rotation.

I'm curious as to why when anyone on this forum wants to trade for a player on another team, we overvalue them and try to throw the kitchen sink at them. I believe in making a low ball offer and go from there.
Because trading Nik straight up for Jones is a bad trade. We can try to send salary back Landry's salary their way. I have a feeling the Rockets wouldn't want to trade Jones for Landry. Landry will be a good bench addition, but he has short comings on defense.

A bad trade for who? Not us! If its a bad trade for them, then they don't do it. Landry has played for Houston before and knows the system. Besides, he would be the third wheel, and if they have no injuries, he wouldn't be getting many minutes anyway. If you put Landry on a team with a good defensive scheme, he's fine. He played on the Warriors who had a pretty good defensive team despite his presence.

I thought Houston wasn't interested in mid range shooters? Most of Landry's best looks are mid range
You could be right. I have no idea what Houston is looking for, if anything. If I were the GM, I'd give them a call and ask if Jones is available, and if so, what would they want in return for him.

I don't think trading for Gibson is that crash-hot an idea.

I'd rather a) go in on the Sanders sweepstakes once that sorts itself out, or b) draft Cauley-Stein who will likely be available at our pick.

If we're gonna trade for anyone, I hope it's Dragic or Affalo.

Do not want sanders. Good chance he never plays again and if he does his attitude and off court issue aren't worth what he's done most of his career. Would I take a one year unguaranteed minimum shot at him? Maybe. But nothing else.

From the hot and dry perspective out here Ben is becoming a marginal untouchable as he seems to fit what Karl says he wants. A spread-the-floor stretch 4 is priority-1 plus shooter scorers for the bench. I like Jones for the 4 and Aflalo for the 2-3 as long as our nearly Big-3 stay, unless of course Dragic lands here. But how good do we want our boys to get in final 30 games, as being in bottom 10 gets Kings a really good draftee?

Keep an eye out for Channing Frye.

He is a stretch 4 and is supposed to be available.

Maybe JT and a 2nd round future pick for Frye?

Orlando is going nowhere and he is on a 4 yr/32 mil contract to come off the bench for them. Orlando saves 20 mil on Frye's contract and JT can be a solid Center-PF rotation player for them.

Kings would get the stretch 4 they want next to DMC and move JT, which PDA has been trying to do for almost 2 years.

Wasnt sure where to place this, but saw this tweet:

I asked Dave if we should watch this as an NBA fan, or as a Kings fan.. and he replied "Kings fan"

Based on earlier conversation about Jackson, I'm assuming you all dont approve if something goes down?

Very possible. I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.

I love Jackson. He doesn't really provide something we need (except occasional 3 pt shooting) but he can fill it up. I'd take him

I don't know very much about Jackson but his 3pt shooting looks like a horror show. What is the deal with him - what does he do so very well? Is he the 6th man shoot first pg we've needed since Bobby Jackson? Is he a defender?

I think the problem is he'd be great as a 6th man, but he wants to start and he wants starter money. I dont know much more about him though

PDA should try to get him involved in a phx, okc, and sac trade. Goran to us. Reggie Jackson to the Suns. Isaiah Thomas to OKC.

His 3pt shooting wasn't horrible last year, but it wasn't great either. He can get streaky from beyond the arc. He can definitely get to the rim and get his own shot. Will get about 4-5 assists and 4-5 rebounds a game. Probably more suited to come off the bench a la Bobby.

Dave knows things.

If he says we should keep an eye on the Jackson talks, than we should keep an eye on the Jackson talks.

Assuming Stauskas is the biggest piece the Kings would surrender, I suppose you can slide Jackson into a combo PG/SG bench gunner role, but I have a feeling the reason he wants out of OKC is for a bigger role.

Jackson for Stauskas is a win on talent and production for the rest of the season. Beyond that, who knows.

I'm not sure how I see the Jackson thing playing out......would we Trade Darren for him? If we don't would we start him over Darren?

That would be kind of messed up.

Iʻd rather wait on Nik then go for Jackson. Do I need to bring up Hassan Whiteside?

No idea why we'd go through the whole IT thing only to repeat it with Reggie. He's a score first pg that doesn't shoot well or defend and he's looking for a huge deal where he can start. How would this make sense for us unless we move DC to backup and go forward with the IT-type for test again?

Whiteside is more of an aberration rather than the norm. He needed a lot of failures in order to have success and many of those failures were self induced. There's no guarantee that Nik becomes good. Do I think he will become a decent NBA player? Sure but we need to get better now and we do need to give up somebody to get someone back. I'm not a fan of Reggie Jackson. Don't like his game. His ego doesn't reflect his skill set. IMO.

Shortly after posting the "hot and dry" perspective, read that Ben may be necessary in trade to het Dragic. Ouch! but hmmmm....
