Trade: Christie for Mobley (MERGED)

Are you happy about this trade?

Considering that Christie is on the downside of his career, the Kings got a good return. Defensively, it does not make them better. The Kings don't need any offense, but offensively, they might have gotten better. I can't say I'm happy about it.

I think were all shocked because doug was one of the original Kings that has lead us on defense for years. Yes I hate to see him go too but I do think this is a decent trade, yes we lose a chunk on our defense. I guess we'll see what happens in the future.

I'll worry about whether its a good trade in a few hours. Right now I'll just be sad to see Doug go.

I'm happy with the trade. I think the fans are very attatched to the players, and ANY player from our core being trade is going to make fans upset. That's why the Kings have the best fans in the league... They ALWAYS respect the players, even when they are gone. It's a great trade. The Kings needed a change, and more offense with Jackson out... Mobley may even play better D than Doug... He was living off pure reputation this season.

Christie has been one of the most selfless players in the league. The Kings will miss him for sure and so will the fans. :(

I really hate to see Christie leave, but I guess it must have been because of his injury. We are getting a younger player as well. It might turn out to be better for us after all. But it does feel like the heart of the team leaving it.

pretty funny how certain members of this board are up in arms & are now jumping off the "Petrie is a God" bandwagon. you know who you are by the way ...

all i can say is, mobley is a very good player, and no he isn't the stopper that christie is, but christie isn't the offensive player mobley is. so the natural reaction so far as been to blast Petrie cuz we all think we know what this team needs... yet for the last 5 years all i've seen time & time again on this board are posts that say "trust petrie. have faith in petrie. petrie know's what he's doing." "petrie will make a move"... now all of a sudden petrie is stupid & doesn't know what is best for this team?? uh huh.

This is Mobley's stats:

PPG16.0
RPG 2.7
APG 1.8
SPG 1.00
BPG .39
FG% .432
FT% .797
3P% .464
MPG 31.6

Doug's Stats:

PPG 7.3
RPG 4.0
APG 4.9
SPG 1.39
BPG .42
FG% .407
FT% .893
3P% .256
MPG 32.1

Yet I still dont believe stats show how precious DC is to us.

stats are not every thing, but look at the rebounding and more importantly, assists. can mobley even play backup PG? damn, i don't want to see doug go.

i loved how doug came into every game with respect and pride. He played through more injuries than we could imagine, and he will be missed by all.

well, I heard it first on the radio, and I can't believe it. I had to log on and see if there was anyone else totally heartbroken, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. Christie for me is what this team is all about. His heart and soul, especially in the playoffs will be hard, if at all possible to replace. What a bummer. The ONLY justification is I guess Petrie wants to go younger and more athletic, but at what cost???

Oh well, I guess it can't be too horrible. My 5 year old got very nervous, and then HIS analysis was "Do we still have Peja? Cause he's the one that's good at the threes." Oh basketball is so simple to a 5 year old!:)

I understand what is being said here, however, people are only "down" on Petrie right now because of their love for Doug. Why not let people have there sadness, anger, and other emotions, and save the contentious posts for another time?

Holy C*ap!

If I would have ever thought about a trade going down, the last person I would suspect to get traded is Doug.

I've been one to get frustrated with Christie, and his offense has really bugged me at times, but I will miss him. He was such a key part of this team.

HOWEVER, I think Cuttino will be a nice little fit. Imagine our backcourt scoring punch next year, with Bibby/Mobley/Jackson. We lose some on defense, but I think Cuttino's ability to score kinda washes that card. Plus he's a bit younger, which is definatly a plus.

So in conclusion, I'm definatly shocked...But I'm pleasantly shocked.

Bye, Doug...Thanks for the memories...

And Welcome aboard Cuttino Mobley!!! (and Micheal Bradley)

He played point guard as a rookie with Houston. Played pg along with Michael Dickerson as the only rookie backcourt in the playoff.

Ok.. It's official. I can't believe it. I love Doug and I question how this will affect our system, and who will be most effected. Will there be enough touches to please everyone.

Wow... Stunned, don't think anyone seen this happening.

I can see why people are freaking out because DC was so popular. I think before we pass judgement on Petrie lets see how this works with the team.

I like Mobley myself. I am actually pretty excited to see how this works.

thanks for the response. the times i've seen him play, he's always been a scorer. again, thanks for the info.

Wonder how the fans will react at the game tommorow?

Shocked silence? Tentative cheers? Full-out welcome cheer?

I hope the fans don't let their love for Christie affect the player-fan relationship between Mobley/us.

I think he'll be nicley welcomed, though.

There could be a chance of booing.......................

Don't get me wrong, I like Mobley and I welcome him, but Doug is such a huge part of our team... It's just all very new and shocking to see him traded.

How many years left on Mobley's contract?

Petrie said that Mobley will NOT play tomorrow's game because it'll take time for signing, etc trade. So I guess the game after Denver.

Whatever.

This is the first time in the Petrie era that I have not agreed with his outlook. I have no problem in saying so and if you want to say I'm jumping off a bandwagon, who cares?

Mobley is an offensive player. We lose in rebounds, we lose BIG in assists, and we lose in the defensive categories in ways that can't be easily broken down into statistics. We lose in steals and we lose the advantages we had of teams knowing GTC was on the court. And, just to make it more precise, we also lose at the FT line, where Doug averages nearly 90& and Mobley hits 80%.

No one but you, BTW, has made the "Petrie is stuipd" comment.

NOW from VF21 the MODERATOR: If you think this is a good idea, fine. Talk about it. But cut the stuff about the members of this board. Make it about the posts and NOT the posters.

That is simply untrue. I cannot imagine the Arco crowd EVER booing DC, but we'll know on March 15.

I WILL be at that game, one way or the other, just to say a fond goodbye to Doug.
