Has anyone seen the Kings website lately? This has to be the funniest/most depressing advertising campaign ever created. If this is just the beginning, I can't wait to see what they'll come up with when it's August and they still have 2,500 ticket packages unsold. Hopefully they'll just go with something like this: "Renew in '09 and you'll only have to see Kenny Thomas 41 more times in person!"

What should it say then? KT contract is up after next season, high trade value being an expiring...

I agree that is one of the lamest promos i can remember seeing on the kings web site.... TOP LOTTO PICK... is apparently the only good thing we can look forward to... that is if its the 1st or 2nd pick... otherwise.... no franchise player to bail us out... its 1, 2 or ABSOLUTE BUST!!!

This is the inevitable result of our current predictament -- and actually I guess ins ome ways, maybe its a reilief that soembody over there at least understands our predictament. You come off a year like this, EVERYONE is stained. Anyone and everyone could be moved over th offseason, so marketing around a returning payer is shaky. On top of which the returning players have just lost 60+ games this season, so marketing around their "excitement" is borderline rdiculous. The TV crews sometimes try the "young frontcourt" hype angle, and that's kind of the other possibility. But there just isn't much of anything tangible and currently on the team for them to market. Still sounds awkward to put it so starkly, but any marketing campaign at this point necessarily has to center around a "fresh start" "new beginninjgs" "young talewnt" or whatever. Can blame them for the strange delivery, but the message is about right.

If anything, it pretty accurately reflects what the most popular Kings website on the internet has been saying for quite a while... They've fully embraced the rebuilding philosophy. While a few might find a reason to protest the verbage, at least the thought process is correct.

Hey, with the lower ticket prices for season ticket holders, the additional seats allocated to cheaper price levels, and the possible top pick, I'm considering buying a $22.50 package. It may be a shock, but I don't fault them for advertising the truth.

I was just looking over the history of the franchise, and for us to not have the worst winning percentage in franchise history means winning 21 games, i.e. going .500 from here on out. That won't happen, this will be the worst year ever, worse than '59-'60.

When you look at what it will probably take to get the fans back into Arco, it would mean (a) a good team, or (b) some other major excitement. I don't really see (a) as a possibility in the next year, so that leaves (b) or another year suffering major financial losses and the doldrums in general.

A Griffin or Rubio is what it will take, I think, for the franchise to make a quick turnaround. I sure hope that the FO doesn't forget that. We could yet have the worst season in franchise history while getting the 7th-9th draft pick.

But if we have the worst season in franchise history we have to end up with 20 wins or less, which means we'd at worst be tied for fifth. Lose the coin toss, then have three teams all below fifth jump us in the lottery and we're still only the 8th pick! 9th pick, my foot! ;)
