Time to play the kids...

I really Really REALLY HATE seeing the Kings lose!!! But I have to be real for a moment...

It is currently over 10+ wins (and 10+ potential other losses) needed to even qualify for the last spot. There is no point in winning now. Tank now and build to win in the future.

Oh, and if Ron can't handle it, suspend him/kick him off the team. We won't need his delusional *** anyway to ruin anymore than what's done.

And for the mercy of KF's everywhere... please stop playing AJ!

Playing kids only: Most natural way to lose and still be entertained I think.

I believe in giving the kids max minutes, and living with whatever they give you, win or lose.

I do not believe in tanking: tanking, actual tanking, as in intentionally trying to lose, is wrong, and cheats the game.

I hate the term "tank" with a deep and abiding hate. It's going to affect the whole tone of this thread. And it's a shame because it's not that bad a comment. I'm changing the title just a bit, BLNINJA, so the whole discussion doesn't get sidelined on the term and not the content.

should've been doing this at the beginning of the season and move the vets out. if the sonics pulled the so called band aid off in one offseason so can we.

Just to clarify what I meant, "tanking" would be playing the kids max mins and letting the vets rest/rot, whatever you wanna call it. I didn't mean to have some sort of setup where the game is thrown... not to mention, I don't think any NBA player would agree to do such a thing (bad for one's carrer).

Speaking of tanking... The Heat are seriously considering shutting down Wade for the season. Anyhoo... It's definitely time to start the young guys. No point in treading water.

Honestly, if the Kings finished the game off with that lineup, I would not have been upset. Though it seemed like they were blowing the lead, you can look in the opposite direction with Thornton. The reason people keep talking about him is because of his big game finishes.

The problem with solely playing the kids is that the vets would get pissed (I’m assuming). The coach also has to manage egos even if it is at the end of a no playoff season. No matter if we like it or not, Ron should be kept happy because I do think that he can change the team’s attitude. We need this team semi-together while we’re headed in the off-season (even if Petrie is planning on trading some players). I don’t want any more commotion from Ron because it makes it that much harder to trade him if he stays. But that’s for another thread.

But I do agree with you, we need to play the kids more, much more. I don’t know how we’re going to do it, but it has to start with not playing Anthony. Maybe Mikki wouldn’t mind taking a back seat to Spencer or Williams since the season’s ending. I’d like to see Hawes start a game with Miller by his side.

I’d love to see the young guys fly down the court/get some minutes/get to know each other on the court instead of practice; all while the guys on the bench really cheer for their team.

I think the problem with the team is because there's so many new guys, and everyone's job isn't secure, none of them are able to really gel together. Their "leader" may be gone in 3 months. Johnson and Wright are done. And any of the young guys could be sacrificed for a higher position in the draft. With the exception of Martin, everyone's job is in jeopardy

playoffs are slowing slipping out of reach. continue to play the younger guys. what an embarassement this season has been.

If you looked at this roster and thought "playoffs", then you deserve to be disappointed. If anything, last night's game gave some hope to the future.
The fact that this team went to 2OT without its two best players is a testament to the fact that they're not throwing in the towel. It doesn't seem like the kids don't think they are part of the future in Sacto.

The problem (as stated before) is that any vet WILL take umbrage at having their minutes taken away, regardless of whether or not the team is trying to rebuild.

Apparently, there was an interview with one of the Maloofs in which he said he wanted Hawes to be played more. There is also smoke that there are different priorities among the GM and the coach. The Kings org needs to get its act together and speak with one voice. You either have as your main priority the development of your young players, or you don't. Personally, I can't stand the goal that Reggie has set for the team - .500 ball. He should have the goal of "improvement," especially for the younger players. Everybody 25 years or younger should be playing 30 minutes or more.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel on Saturday, Miami coach Pat Riley said he’s fed up with Wade taking the brunt of the criticism for the Heat’s poor play and admitted he has considered shutting him down for the season.

“We have to be realistic here, OK?” Riley said to the newspaper. “If the guy is playing hurt and playing hurt could get him to a point where he could have another catastrophic injury, for whatever reason, it’s foolish with your most important asset.

I don't think it is good for team chemestry or for the future (think trade value and furute attitudes of keepers) to flat out bench the starters. BUT BIG min can and should be found for Sheldon, Spencer, Quincy and Cisco. If starters are hurting, hey take a night off!

Also the team needs to know if they play on sticking with Ron or if he is on his way out. If he is leaving John Salmons nees to be getting big min, and told what the plan is.

yep.

The only part I don't agree with is not playing Martin much. He's young, talented and going to be here for a while. You contiue to play him, but split his minuts a little more to get more time for Douby.

Well, seems like Houston is picking up one of the kids we lost recently (Justin). This is from the report of the Houston-Dallas game

Adelman said his team was about to sign C Justin Williams to help fill the void created by Yao’s absence. “I know one game he had, because he had it against us, he had something like 12 rebounds in a half,” Adelman said.

While I thought it was unlikely, I was hoping that we shall pick him again after we waived Lue. Unfortunately, we have lost a potentially valuable prospect.
