There is no topic

Today at work, someone called in to complain that she couldn't talk on her home phone; her power was out. After a few minutes of her nonsense, it came to pass that she could, in fact, talk on her phone, just not the phone she wanted to use, which required AC power because of all the gadgets and **** it had on it. My attempt to explain to this woman that phones which require electricity to operate will not, in fact, operate when there is no electricity, irrespective of whether there is a dial tone or not, was met with the following response: "Well, I think it's kind of a shady business practice that your sales people don't make sure that customers know that when they order the service; it's like they're lying to you to make sure they get your money."

I mean, I hate the sales weasels as much as the next guy but, what the ****, really? Yeah, lady, we're keeping mum on the big trade secret that electrical objects will not run without electricity; we're insidious like that...

While waiting for friends and the superbowl to start, I channel hop to the Puppy Bowl for a few minutes. Man, those puppies are adorable.
 
The Smashing Pumpkings song "1979" came out in 1995..... If someone was to write a similar song today it would be called "1994".

i just went through 2 exams back to back.. one analytical chem and the other cell bio..

but all these things bringing me closer to that damn diploma ;) this summer im moving up to medschool! :D kings have been a big part of my bball life..

Taco Bell gets a bad rap. I like Taco Bell. A lot. I say that because I will now make the following statement: I will be boycotting Taco Bell until that Barkley "Five Buck Box" commercial is off the air. That commercial is terrible. It is terrible.

I generally don't much like rap, but I thought this was a pretty funny rap about economics. Kind of like schoolhouse rock for a new generation.

I'm doing the same thing with Subway. They've managed to make the stupid five dollar song even more annoying that it was before. I can't take it. I change the channel/station whenever it comes on, and I won't eat there until they stop using that dumb song. I hate it.
 
Slim, as long as you don't believe that Taco Bell is Mexican food, you'll get no beef from me. (pun intended.) As for your avatar - I'm torn. Yeah, a woman her age probably shouldn't rock the go-go boots and plaid skirt, but, to be fair, she looked pretty decent in that outfit, and I didn't think it was all that bad.

While the commercial may not be to your liking, the offer itself - especially the Volcano version - is quite a deal. :)
 
I was up at eight; didn't go to bed until four-thirty. Of course, I do that five days a week; an occupational hazard of being a Kings Fan on the east coast.
 
I am still at work - going on 19 hours now at 4 am - trying to finish a big draft report. And I am one of 5 people still in the office working on this thing right now.

I plan on going on a full night ghost hunt at Preston Castle at some point this year. Hopefully June 26 for my birthday.

Should be fun as I love all the ghost hunting shows, and I just saw an episode of Ghost Adventures on the place.

Yeah, whenever I'm in Ione and I drive by that place...just creepy. I heard somewhere that Merle Haggard was one of the 'residents' when he was a youth. I too saw that Ghost Adventures episode. Good stuff, even though I generally don't believe in things that go bump in the night.
 
Apparently someone decided not to tie down a big mirror very well and it blew off their car right in front of my wife as she was driving home today from Cal Expo area. Sounds like it damaged a few cars, including ours. She and our son are OK, just shaken up, but the tow truck just got there and there is glass everywhere. Sounds like the family van will be in the shop for a while......


So if you are out and about in the area and see a green van being loaded on a tow truck, wave at them, will ya? :o


I'm going to meet them in Elk Grove. Her folks were nearby (they had spent the afternoon together) and they are giving her a ride to the dealership in Elk Grove. Maybe we will buy them dinner. ;)
