The Wrestling Thread~

RIP to Lanny Poffo, aka "Leapin' Lanny Poffo," aka "The Genius," aka the younger brother of Randy "Macho Man" Savage.

Poffo was a sneaky good wrestler, who didn't get half the credit he deserved for introducing US wrestling audiences to a lot of high-flying moves. I think (although I can't confirm this) he was the first American wrestler to do a moonsault.

I never knew him as a wrestler (as that happened a little before my time), BUT, although I was extremely annoyed at it back in the day, his "Genius" character will probably never leave my list of some of the most memorable aspects of the WWE (errrrr.....WWF) back then.

RIP, Mr. Poffo.

IIRC, he was one of, I dunno, three people to get a televised win over Hogan during the Hulkamania era.

From what I am able to gather he was in NYC last night taking in a Broadway show and having the best life and had a massive heart attack. mortality man. what a drag.

Everyone keeps talking up KO&Sami versus the Usos but what if the real Wrestlemania booking is Sami/Jey vs Jimmy/Solo?

Thank goodness New Day is gone from my NXT. Honestly wouldn’t mind Woods on his own, but Kofi’s character devolution is just so bad. I’ll admit I was just irrationally bitter about Kofimania because he took my guy Ali’s spot in the chamber that year. But now he’s just a guy who yells and twerks. It’s unbearable.

Wes Lee is incredible. That was peak NXT opening match craziness right there. So glad he got his shot after his partner went full stupid.

Bron needs to lose that title to Melo at Stand & Deliver.

Thank goodness New Day is gone from my NXT...
I'll disregard the rest of your predictably bad Kofi take ( :p ) to focus on this: why do you say that as if you thought that there was even a one percent chance that New Day was in NXT to stay?

Feels like this worked great until the next Bloodline segment on Friday after which everyone will be cheering for Sami Zayn like they heard glass shatter.

It’s gonna be easy enough for them to pivot Sami and KO to the Usos after Jey betrays Sami at EC. Hell, have that main event Night 1 of Mania. Bloodlines’ downfall happens in back to back main events.

The end of NXT was inevitable, but I just didn't expect them to pull the trigger on a non-premium event. Regardless, I am excited to see what creative does with both of their singles careers...
