The Wrestling Thread~

I think for me it’s as simple as that crazy flipping GTS Knee she does as a finisher. Otherwise she’s firmly in the Breaker territory of “Yeah she’s good, but that’s not enough anymore.”
How someone's finisher looks is not a valid argument for a major push shortly after a debut or a return from injury. Sorry, but there better be a better reason why someone wants a wrestler to be pushed in either scenario other than "because their finisher looks cool"...

Just a cherry on top of the total in-ring package. She’s a good wrestler with a great finish. From everything I’ve seen, in-ring she’s got all the skills to be a viable champion, just a matter of making the connection with the people now.

Idk, a good finisher is something that really resonates with me. Seth without The Stomp? Just wasn’t the same guy.

I mean, it's visibly interesting, but I can't see it passing the Doudrop Test™ (Working title: previously known as the Nia Jax Test™, patent pending).
Na, she’ll definitely have to figure something else out for ladies built like them. That said, I was surprised she was able to hit it cleanly on Indi Hartwell awhile back. If Indi can take it most other ladies in the division can probably as well. It’s not limited to only people the size of Feroz and Katana, so it’s not a huge hindrance if she only needs a workaround for a couple people on the entire roster…. Thinking of the NXT roster currently maybe Nikkita would be on that list, but she’s pretty athletic. It might look silly but I think she’d be able to take it.

I think that Nikkita Lyons is at the upper threshold of the size opponent that Zoey Stark could hit with that finisher. I also think that, at this stage in their respective careers, there's a zero percent chance that Zoey Stark could hit that move on Nikkita Lyons without it being horribly botched, most likely by Lyons.

But yeah, mileage obviously varies but my opinion is that, if you can't hit your finisher safely on the biggest wrestler in your division, you need a new finisher.

Agreed. A finisher is only good if it can be hit (safely) on all opponents. And, in my honest opinion, if you have to make adjustments to your current finisher, or find a new one, just because you have a difficult time hitting it on larger opponents, you might as well go back to the drawing board.

Anyone been watching AEW? It's slowly (rapidly) becoming my #1 option over the WWE. Their creative team, in my opinion, is currently leaps and bounds better than the WWE's is at the moment, and has been for the past handful of years.

Last night's episode of Dynamite was MONEY.

WWE better move quick if they want to keep me as a "die hard" fan. They're running out of time.

I watch AEW. All of these casually and not week to week. NXT pre 2.0 was my favorite product. AEW is pretty good but it's feeling very 98, post-peak NWO WCW already to me, with how eager they are to take on ex-WWE talent and bump them up over the guys they built the company on with promise of an equity company. OF COURSE - it is a better product than how it started, but there's an edge with a very steep drop if they aren't careful. I have concerns about long term safety of the workers in AEW too, but I guess we'll see.

You do make a very valid point here. It's all a waiting game at this point. And with the news today of Vince retiring...The door might be wide open for someone else to come in and take over as the premier wrestling promotion in the world.

I'm more concerned with whether Kevin Dunn and Johnny Ace are still going to be around than I am about Stephanie.
I’m pretty sure Ace is 100% gone with HHH getting his job. And for as long as I’ve been hanging in the IWC I’ve heard Dunn was hated by HHH and Steph, so unless he has Khan’s ear I can see him totally gone too.

As for the news. Holy *******, thought he’d die on his throne.

If Trips is back he might be able to save WWE (or god please give us good NXT back???) otherwise I can see AEW claiming the throne. I'm about 60-40 on their product. It's a great throwback product but also has a bit more hokey stuff than I'd like. But I definitely go back and forth on how much of that throwback stuff isn't going to cause us to look back in 10-15 years the way we did 10 years ago on the attitude era and feel shame for demanding it.

Honestly probably nothing. Brock loves his money too much to throw this payday and future ones out the window for a tantrum, I bet cooler heads prevail and he shows back up.
This one? Maybe. Future ones? Don't bet on it. They'll probably offer him double to "do the honors" and save the show, and then wash their hands of him, until or unless the Saudis offer him eight figures to do an appearance over there.

Yeah, Vince was probably the “Break glass in case of emergency” blank check guy for Brock. That’s likely why he’s so pissed.
