I am starting a new thread now that the party has been confirmed. MBF will add more info soon so please check back to this thread on a regular basis for continuing information.

Also, please use this thread to confirm your planned attendance, as well as to give us a head count.

Send a PM to MontysBiggestFan to let her know what you plan to bring.

Ok folks, we're confirmed for Sunday, October 16th for our viewing party double header, which as it stands right now will include the home opener against the Sparks and game 4 of the WNBA Finals in all their splendor. We'll be gathering at the Chesapeake Commons Clubhouse in Rancho Cordova, which has seating for about 25-30 people. (it can hold more, we'd just need folks to bring some lawn chairs if it appears we're going to exceed the supplied seating). We will have the games projected onto a screen of incredibly suitable size for viewing by all who want to attend. I've cleared the AV hurdle in what may turn out to be a really fun way.

I will post directions next week.

I'm proposing that we begin the festivities at 1pm/1:30pm for the first game with the game 4's airing around 3:30 or so. If there are overwhelming objections to that time scheme, let's talk it over.

Next steps is to start organizing the potluck/tailgate eats and perhaps start an RSVP list as well.

Woohoo!!!

Date: Sunday October 16th....

Time: Game tip 1:30 for Los Angeles home opener
and 3:30-ish for WNBA Finals game 4
Feel free to come any time after 12:30pm.

Location Info: Chesapeake Commons Clubhouse
3600 Data Drive
Rancho Cordova

Driving Directions:
From Downtown Sacramento
Go East on Hwy 50
Take Mather Field exit and turn right at the light and merge into left hand lanes
Continue through 2nd traffic light (cross street Rockingham), but stay in left hand lanes when Mather Field Rd splits with International Drive and continue on International Drive through third traffic light.

Shortly after this light, move into the left turn lane and turn left onto Data Drive.
Turn into first available Chesapeake Commons driveway entrance (it will be your first available driveway entrance as you turn onto Data Dr.). The clubhouse is straight ahead(I'll mark it someway) .

From Citrus Heights, Folsom or other such areas
Go West on Hwy 50 from Citrus Heights or Folsom or other such areas
Take the Zinfindel exit and turn left at the light. Follow Zinfindel through a 2nd stop light (at White Rock Road) and then turn right onto Data Dr. at the stop sign - you will contine on Data until you reach the last available driveway on your right hand side before Data crosses International Dr. Clubhouse is straight ahead.

Parking: There should be plenty of open parking in front of or around the clubhouse at that time of day. All uncovered parking spaces are available for use.

Food: We'll just handle this potluck style. Bring anything you want to share. We will have a kitchen available if you need to warm/heat things up. I'll have cups, plates, utensils and ice etc. We might need some folks to bring 2L bottles of soda etc.

Thanks 6th for nearly talking Yo into coming :) I got the feeling that if we were showing game 1 of the WCF she might have changed her vacation plans ;).

if you had gotten Yo to show up,...i might have had to taken a second mortgage and shown up myself.

Had a nice chat with Yo on Friday night. She was interested and, had it been this weekend, might have shown up. However, she has been rehabbing her knee since the championship and is now ready to head out on vacation. She will be going to Europe to play ball later, but for now will go have some fun.

p.s. The swelling has finally subsided in her knee. She said that she lost a lot of strength because of that swelling, so she will need to work on that now.

wah wah wah .....here I am at work, all bored, and no game to even listen too...That's ok I'll be fine.......:(

Sorry to hear that, but I hope you are joining us on the 16th.

I plan on being there. Don't know what I'll bring yet, MBF. Will let you know as soon as I can.Or I would be willing to contribute any of the miscellaneous stuff you might need such as paper plates, cups, plasticware, sodas or ??

Damn...

I won't be able to attend which really Blows...

I never get to Socialize with Mama Bristow....

Luv 13 and Mama B can never be in the same Monarch space at the same time apparently.

Luv13, I thought we already had you as an attendee when the date changed to the 16th? I can't imagine what could compete with watching the celebration again...;)

Kennadog, I've got the miscellaneous stuff taken care of. I think 6th is handling the beverages.. we just need snackable foods.

I think we're still hovering around the 10-15ish area in terms of party size at this point.

I'd love to come and re-visit what happened three weeks ago today (:D ), but I think I'm going to the Woodland Corn Maze thing that day.

Believe me I would rather be with ya'll than what I will be doing. Like I said before... This Totally Blows. But Duty calls...

Well, I'm going on Sunday. I'd have to, since I'm bringing the tape of the season opener!

I can bring some food. How about something from The Colonel, that is, KFC?

Also, is beer and wine allowed in the premises?

Tailgate and Games

I am checking with my partner. Sounds like the best thing since the parade! Actually better because we will be able to see!

I have 1/2 doz bottles (2 ltr) of soda to bring. I am also bringing some corn chips, salsa, and con queso.

Looking forward to this get-together. :)

Sorry I'm so late with this. I just PM'd you MBF. I'd like to bring a Salsa Bean Salad and some raspberry cookies?

Sorry, I was running around much of yesterday and my home computer went nuts.

I've got the head count and look forward to seeing everyone later this afternoon! :)

Thanks to everyone who was able to join today's viewing party!! I had a fabulous time sharing the reliving of the opening and closing chapter of the 2005 home season at ARCO with everyone and the food was great too!

Some observations:
1. Tho it was dicey for a while, the Monarchs still were able to beat the Sun in game 4 and get a shiny piece of hardware. shirts and hats, and a whole lotta confetti. :) I may very well reach a point where the reality of it all finally sets in.

2. Group activities involving Monarchs fans and anything having to do with the Sparks is fun times. :)

A heads up to those who were unable to make it today - we're going to keep the momentum rolling during the offseason... Like say right now...for instance...I'm putting the official shout-out to those headed to Palo Alto to see Stanford and Tennessee on December 3rd - let's meet and greet....Wiggins and a healthy (fingers crossed) Tennessee fab 5? C'mon, does it really get any better than that??

I'll need to confirm the details, but I've been told that a local establishment has offered to be the official offseason party home of Monarchs fans who need a women's basketball fix between now and the opening of the 2006 season. So, stay tuned on this front as well..

Again, it was great seeing everyone and also to bring together KingsFans.com Monarchs Forum members and members of the Monarchs Unofficial Booster Club YahooGroup list. Let's doi it again soon!

I had a blast and cannot thank MontysBiggestFan enough for getting us all together. It was great to meet more members of our forum.

See ya next time.

Thanks again for a wonderful afternoon of Monarchs basketball!

Did we get enough cash donated to offset the cost of the rental items?

Angela

I really enjoyed the Monarchs Playoff re-run party. Thanks MontysBiggestFan for getting a great space and renting & setting up all the AV equipment. It was a first rate operation! 6th, you always do a great job getting folks excited and organized. Where do you get all that enthusiasm, girl?! The food was yummy and I hope next time we have more time to meet each other. I will be sure to post information about the Soroptimists Crab Feed when it becomes available. And I will try to visit the Kingsfans website more often in the future. Once I learn how to post photos to this forum, I have a nice group shot that I will post (unless someone objects). Thanks again for inviting us old-school unofficial booster club types from the Yahoo list.

p.s. don’t forget your Wheaties, they should be on the shelves today!

Sounds like I missed a great party, darn!! But you really don't think I'd turn down a free luxury condo in Tahoe weekend trip now, do you. I am so happy to hear that it was a rip-roaring success and lots of fun. Anyone who was there and took photos, please post them to this forum!! And thanks for the reminder about the Wheaties box-I was wondering when it would be on the shelf. Going to snatch one up at Ralph's after work today.

Arghhhhh! My bad timing on starting a new (but temporary, fortunately) job! I'm working Sundays now. :(

Anyway, what day of the week is the Stanford game? Is that a Sunday? If it is a week night, I might actually be able to swing it.

Sorry to be missing out on all the fun... but I was there for the original victory, so I guess that is what really matters!

Many thanks to MBF & all the cool fans in attendance. That was fun and gave me so much to be thankful for...friends,good food, & a chance to rejoice in our Monarch's being WORLD CHAMPIONS!!! What a fine day. Thanks everyone!

That Stanford game is a 12:30pm tip-off on a Sunday 12/4. (I'm sorry to have had the date mixed up, it's the 4th not the 3rd).

There are some enticing televised women's college basketball match-ups in the coming months - we could get together somewhere for lunch and watch them live one weekend or record and watch tape-delayed somewhere.

Thank you for the contributions...I'm cool on the AV thing, seriously. Just wish I had put a little bit more thought into the DVD hookup I ultimately went with. I realized later that night that I did actually have something that could have handled the DVD-Rs that MamaB had brought. The DVD player I brought to the party obviously had a thing against Nykeshia Sales ;) Thank you Steven and MamaB for media contributions!

Someone had mentioned either here or on the other list that it would have been nice to have had time to socialize a little bit more as well on Sunday - so we can put our heads together on how to do more of that as well in the coming months.

Great party, great food, great job MBF! :D

Southwestern Bean Salad

8 oz Brick or Mozzarella cheese
1 can (15 oz) garbanzo beans
1 can (15 oz) black beans
1 can (15 oz) red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1 red or yellow sweet bell pepper, chopped
1 bunch green onions, sliced (about 1 cup)
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
2 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 cup Italian dressing
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon chili powder

Cut cheese in small chunks. Combine with remaining ingredients in a quart bowl. Refrigerate 2 hours or more (up to 2 days). Keep chilled until serving time.

(Note: It doesn't say to drain the garbanzo or black beans, but I did drain off most, but not all, of the liquid. Looked like too much liquid to me.)
