the Pacers and Kings are exceedingly close to swapping Ron Artest

On the bottom right of espnnews where it says Breaking News: Jim Gray: Artest to Kings for Stojackovic

The Maloofs said they were waiting to hear from the league if its all A-OK.

So does Reef start tonight?

PG - Bibby
SG - Martin
SF - Thomas
PF - Reef
C - Miller

If he has felt ok after the last few games, I'd start him. Jim grey says the teams have agreed in principal, the league office and Stu Jackson has it now for approval.

Okay, now that the trade is confirmed .... the question is:

Does this change our offensive system?

We'll only have one bonifide outside shooter: Bibby
Three midrange shooters: Miller, Artest & Reef
Two post players: Reef & Artest

I could see us running a much more post oriented, slow down style of play with this trade. Any other thoughts?

On the subject of PF - I think this makes Reef the starter of choice. Artest's style of play is best suited to having a post presence drawing some attention, rather than one that stands outside setting picks or handing the ball off. Just my opinion on it - and perhaps I'm seeing what I want to see.

I am so ridiculously excited. This changes everything. The Kings are suddenly relevant again. They have the toughest 2/3 combo in the league. An alpha-male who will butt some heads and play his a** off every game. I think Artest is going to inspire the rest of the team, or at least shame them into playing defense.

This is going to be interesting!!

The real question is - will Artest find himself nailed to the bench for playing that 'd' word?

:D

THIS IS FRIGGIN AWESOME -- Peja we loved you....now goodbye.

Hello Defensive Player of the Year --- try not to blow a fuse.

Artest + Bonzi + KT ===== GET NASTY!!!!

Doug never was.

Whew.

I was worried. I see how much trying to play solid defense gets you minutes. :D

In case it didn't come across, I was only kidding about the bench thing.

Did you say KT get nasty?

There's subtle forms of humor - and then overt ones ... that seems to be the more overt kind of humor. :p

Seriously, I just don't see KT as the right player with this new lineup. I could be wrong, but I think we are going to need more scoring and a way to pull people off Artest.

The lineup I see is very akin to our original lineup:

PG - Bibby
SG - Bonzi
SF - Artest
PF - Reef
C - Miller

Of course, I would move Bibby for a traditional PG... but that's just the way I like to play basketball and see it played.

To all those who slam Peter Vescey --- a lot on this board -- as a hack and rumor monger --- gotta give the man his props. He got the scoop before anyone else.

I have always liked Vesceys' columns. They are entertaining and provocative....he is not afraid to rip Larry Brown and second guess his coaching manuevers....unlike snoozeville bore columnist Marty McNeal who rarely has anything compelling to say.

Welcome Ronnie to Sac-town...the Tru Warrior!!!!!!

I see a similarly in attitude on occassion with these players.

KT plays with a little bit of a chip on his shoulder.

He attacks the rims on dunks, and goes up aggressively for boards in a "nasty" way.

Having Ron Artest as a teammate can hopefully bring more of that aggressiveness out of him.
