A while back, there was an official "Fire Adelman" thread. To my embarassment, I may have even said that as much as I liked him, I thought it might be time for a change.

I was wrong.

Thank God Petrie and the Maloofs didn't listen to some of the fans who were crying for Rick Adelman's head on a platter.

What I've seen since Ron Artest came to the team is a coach getting the most out of a team that has had one injury after another, hasn't even had the same names available from night to night, etc.

For everyone who said Adelman isn't good with young players, I say "PFFFFFTTT!" Both Martin and Garcia are coming along under the tutelage of Rick Adelman..

I watched him as much as possible tonight and I could not imagine another coach on the sidelines getting the same kind of performances out of our guys.

This is a public plea to the Maloofs. You already took a big gamble by signing Ron Artest. Now, finish the deal. Get Adelman on the phone and offer him that new deal that will keep him around. We need him!

I completly agree, i think everyone who is saying fire adelman will be sorry if he actually goes, because he is a good coach, i dont think the players have quit on him at all and im all for keeping adelman...GO KINGS!

I'm mostly inclined to agree. If Artest likes him then I like him. Now that we seem to have a true leader on the court we can afford a player's coach on the bench. I just hope that once the team is 100% healthy he doesn't go back to the short bench.

Adelman is awesome. He is a good coach and now the defense is becoming infectious. I say keep him. Ron and Bonzi like him, we need him. I really hope the Maloofs offer him a fat contract.

im cool with adelman.... 4 more years..... 4 more years.....

i don't have faith that the maloofs will recognize that we should keep rick around.
I'm afraid Rick won't stay, even if asked. At this point, I'd think that Petrie may be the only one who could possibly talk him into it.

Why would Rick want to keep doing this ? He deserves better and Kings don't really deserve Rick Adelman.

I like Adelman as much as the next guy, but if we are rebuilding after this year than I can't see us keeping him. If we move towards a defensive team I can see us getting a defensive minded coach.

Seriously, I think the only guy from the starting lineup that is going to stay is Artest, and maybe Miller or Bibby. I can see us shopping one of them this summer. Wells will be gone, and Martin will take his place. We will probally have SAR come off the bench if we keep both SAR, and KT (because KT seems to do better when he starts, and SAR erforms off the bench better than KT).

If that plays out than I cannot see us keeping Adelman.

I can't think of any defensive minded "player's coaches". I'm afraid that putting Artest with a defensive minded coach is a recipe for disaster.

I am really hoping that's not what happens. A major rebuild will more than likely cause Artest to snap, however if he keeps it together he is more than likely the franchise player we've been craving, moreso than Webber. If we keep Bonzi I think we're in great position to be highly competitive next year with minor tweaking in the offseason.

Different situations. I don't think Rick was the right coach for the other team of players we had. If we get him defensive stoppers then he looks a lot different. Is he the right coach for this team? Maybe. Maybe not. Right now he is the coach and I will stick by him. Even if his substitution patterns cause me to pull my hair out! ;)

Yes, I agree we need to keep Rick Adelman. Plus he has a history of turning around "trouble" players into well-mannered players.

Then, I said "Fire Adelman". Now, I say "Keep Adelman!". Although he has still the habits of doing ugly player combinations.

So who's a defensive minded coach we could get... let's say Popovich (real likely). His PG is Bibby, his C is Miller, and he has Thomas, Williamson, and SAR to choose from at PF. I'm sure we'll be holding teams to 80 ppg in no time.

Adelman somehow managed the best defensive team in the league in 02-03. It's hard to believe he forgot about that half of the court in the last three years.
