THE OFFICIAL: DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT TRADING DMC THREAD!!!

Should the Kings think about trading DMC?

The mass majority of fans who pay for tickets do not come to this forum and probably don't even know it exists. They don't understand the game as well as a lot of posters here do. So I'm not sure if the Kings FO looks at this forum as "what the fans want." While it may be the prudent thing to do in not even entertaining a trade for Cousins, my gut feeling tells me there are a lot of casual fans who wouldn't mind because they get sick of watching DMC's attitude out on the court. I hear that all the time from casual fans of the Kings.

Like somebody mentioned a few posts back, if somehow the Kings netted 3-4 solid players and we suddenly became the Atlanta Hawks, people are going to buy tickets and pack the arena. Or would they rather have one of the best statistical centers in the game leading the team to 28 wins each year?

Don't kid yourself. Kingsfans and other forums are constantly monitored by the Kings to gauge "informed fan" reaction.

And don't underestimate the "final straw" impact trading Cousins might have a considerable portion of the fanbase. I have been a Kings fan since 1985. I have ALWAYS maintained a loyalty to the franchise, insisting it's about the name on the front and not the name on the back. It was a real test of my resolve to stay loyal to the Kings when they traded Chris Webber. I do not think my resolve couild stand if arguably the best big man in this century was traded away rom a team that has not done everything it possibly could to build a winning team around him.

DeMarcus believes in loyalty. He has mine. #LoyaltyIsLove If he goes, I'm truly afraid that I will too ... and not even look back.

1) It IS absurd to have this thread, since there's been almost nothing new to suggest anything has changed in the Demarcus Trade situation.

2) On the other hand, it ISN'T absurd to have this thread telling the FO in no uncertain terms, what will happen to us fans' fandom if they are stupid enough to trade him. Because this FO is just that stupid and arrogant and unwilling to give Demarcus (or any player) the respect the elite athletes deserve and (most) require.

3) There is simply no way this Kings organization could remotely liquidate DMC into pieces/players of much impact.
This is the Kings FO we're talking about. This is the Sacramento franchise we're talking about (all the disadvantages we have are still here, making us not a destination for players).

4) I'm in the habit of (successfully) predicting things:
I predict that if this FO and owner trades Demarcus this off-season, there will be fans who will violate their personal/professional space.
There will be fans who will make their lives uncomfortable with how dogged they are in harassing the individuals who let this happen.
Not me, mind you - but there WILL be fans who have had enough, and will take their displeasure to a real-life encounter level. For example, Vivek would have to have (more) security when he goes out in public.

Flexible pieces, baby.

Yeah, I understand the joke about trading Webber, but come on -
Webber was clearly done as a force in the league. Trading him at all was a miracle with that contract and with Webber's knee. The MAloofs/Petrie ended up paying KT a long time, but that was a no-win scenario.

But this is Demarcus we're talking about, not Webber.
Demarcus isn't injured, no way.
He's not damaged goods on a horrendous contract.
He is a budding superstar on a very reasonable contract.
To get rid of him now would be colossally incompetent.
We're talking historical stupidity here - I'd cede to Bricklayer to come up with the level of stupidity we're talking about if Vivek traded Demarcus, but (knowing how little Sacramento gets in trades historically, and knowing this FO's ineptness) it'd likely end up being near the top of bad superstar trades in modern basketball history.

"Hysterical" is a pretty decent adjective describing the state of the fanbase for quite some time now. We should hold group meditation sessions or something.
I think the fact that a thread like this resonates with the fan base shows how incompetent this franchise is.
We have one of the best players in the NBA and our FO seems to be going away from his strengths.
The people here aren't being hysterical. We're being realistic. The last 10 years of complete ineptitude and the self sabotage of this season tell me that this FO will find a way to fu** this up. Thats not being hysterical. Thats being real.

Not to be picky, but Orlando's record when Shaq was with them:
41-41
50-32 (made playoffs)
57-25 (reached NBA Finals)
60-22

King's record with Cousins:
24-58
22-44
28-54
28-54
(at best) 29-53

Obviously a lot more factors at play, but on record alone (and individual performance) one could reasonably argue that at this point Shaq leaving Orlando was a greater loss to them than if Cousins were to leave us. I mean ... we aren't exactly going to lose all the success we've been having or anything like that.

Hopefully though, the FO can somehow assemble a good team around Cousins and we won't have to think about any of this at all.

All things are relative. At this point with this teams record without him, do you really want this team to be the first on in history to win 3 games in a season? ;)

The tone of the original statement was mainly based on the idea that big men like that don't come around very often. You know, kind of like Demarcus Cousins.

Hence my flexble pieces reference.

Thank you for making this thread. I have been pondering how best to express this without it sounding like too direct a threat. It is little less though.

George, you haven't earned the right to do this. Not as a King. You don't get to parachute into a franchise for one last rodeo and then dump its franchise player after 1/3 of a season because you want the franchise to be about you, rather than the established franchise. You're a tourist here until you do something a lot more special than feature Derrick Williams.

Vivek, you do this and we will crush you at the box office. CRUSH you. Your play, your one and only play is to say "Boogie is our franchise guy, end of story." Your irritant act, your fostering conflict and insecurity has you threatening to win exactly the same number of games in each of your first two seasons that the dead broke Maloofs did in their last.

Vlade, you know better.

Pete, if you have even a remote part in this...

It ever happens I am out, and I am taking absolutely every pillar and fan I can with me. A year from now on opening night you and a handful of your employees being paid to do it can sit there in your brand new empty echoing arena and watch your daughter sing to 50 people like its a junior high talent show.

Now that said...they wouldn't dare. They just wouldn't. Too many people know how good Cuz is at this point. Just to be safe this time though I'm going to throw down the gauntlet BEFORE the ridiculous happens, not wait for idiots to be idiots.

If the FO trades DMC im done with the Kings....at least for awhile....a very long while! I really dont have it in me too watch DMC tear this league up for the next 10 years and become a HOF.

i'll be watching every game cuz comes back and destroys the kings. maybe he'll glare at vivek with the shaka while running down the court. it'd be fitting he was traded to a team that was coached by malone. he'd have cuz on the block drawing fouls on all the front court players.

vivek your a ****ing dummy, an absolute idiot and a pee poor team owner whose turned a proud underperforming franchise into an absolute circus. Everything bad about this franchise lands at your feet and the abysmal business decisions you have made. The fact that our franchise center is unhappy and there are murmurings of a trade should keep you up at night.

i dont know what the **** you are doing but this is legitimately last chance saloon. If Karl cant be brought into line you need to get rid of him. Its becoming more and more evident with each day that his style of play and man management does not fit in with how this team is structured.

You know, Cousins hasn't been traded yet, and the organization hasn't said anything about trading him. The only thing I heard out of Karl is that he's never seen a player that was untradable, and he was responding to a question from a reporter. So why all the vitriol? If your that angry at the world, then go pound nails or something. Your response is exactly why I hate these kind of threads. Instead of intelligent conversation, we get name calling. Chill out man, its nothing but a frigging game.

The only guys who are equal value for Cousins are untradeable themselves.

That's all that needs to be said.

So let me see if I have this right. Cousins is untradable, and the only players you (not you) would trade him far, are also untradable. Hmmm! Seems like a catch 22 to me. Also a moot point...

Cousins is tradable the second he doesn't want to play here. If you think that's an inevitability, then some forethought about about a future trade makes a lot of sense. What makes no sense is dropping hints to the media in an effort to cover your ass and sell this disaster as anything else. This organization just doesn't understand how to handling even the most basic moves in a professional manner. Which includes trading Cousins and not clearing out the front office that got us to this juncture. The future assets we traded our stud for are going to managed by same guys who couldn't build around the best center in the league? If it comes to that I hope Vivek realizes that most fans aren't going to stick around to watch history repeat itself, not this time.

Given the context of our season, cousins is dam well untradeable. Its an absolute ridiculous comment and 91% of this forum belive that.

As our franchise player its the last thing you want to hear and its clear this has reached boogie and his camp.

We're supposed to be building around him are we not ? Thats what we've sold him all along. We need to do better as an organisation. Seriously bone headed judgement there from Karl and thats if its not part of a power struggle or bid for more influence.
