Thank you for the good years and for putting a team on the court that literally took my breath away. Because of you and what you did, my family bonded in a way many families never experience. WE ARE KINGS FANS. I followed the team from the very beginning but it was those glory years that forever cemented them into my heart. And, on a personal note, without Geoff Petrie there would be no vladefan21.

Thank you, Geoff, and good luck in all your future endeavors.

Thank you GP for the star players, for the role players, for creating "The TEAM" that brought me into the basketball fold. May you be blessed in your future endeavors.

Thanks GP, I still recall the summer and hearing about the trade that brought in CWebb, signing Vlade, drafting JWill and thinking, "That is going to be a great team."

I also remember your comment after drafting Peja when you refered to him as a "Poor mans Larry Bird."

We all had great times watching that team. I appreciate all the memories and best of luck in retirement.

GP: I can only imagine what is was like working under the Magoofs the past few years and being handcuffed in what you probably wanted to do. Thanks for the great years 10 years ago. You created arguably one of the most exciting teams in NBA history.

I wish you well in your next endeavor.

Thanks indeed, GP! What you were able to do with this team was nothing short of amazing. Before the owners revealed what greedy weasels they are, of course. I wish you had told them to shove it and walked away, but I can't blame you for sticking around.

Thanks for putting together one of the best, most talented and most entertaining teams of all time! And good luck (and great owners) wherever you land next!

Thank you, Geoff.

You made the moves, some visionary (Peja), some risky (Richmond for Webber), some surprising (Divac), some stubbornly brilliant (Adelman) and some flashy (J-Will) that put together the team that reinvigorated my interest in the NBA and got us back into the playoffs in one summer. You didn't stop there, but continued to build the core (Bibby, Jackson, Christie) until we were the best team in the NBA.

Although you had trouble signing free agents and mixed results on trades later in your tenure, your drafting was excellent overall, landing Turkoglu in a weak draft and grabbing Wallace, Martin, and Garcia in the 20s. Even with the miss on Robinson and the hiccup on Fredette, you still picked a solid JT in the late lottery, and stuck to your guns to get Tyreke and DeMarcus, our franchise cornerstones going forward.

I do feel like your hands were somewhat tied, both financially and ideologically, over the past few years and I wish that ownership had given you more opportunity to build the team your way. I would have liked to see you leave the league on your own terms and at the head of a competitive playoff team, but that was not to be. Still, I wish you the best in your future endeavors, even if (as seems likely) those consist mostly of golfing, fishing, and spending time with grandkids. Here's to enjoying your retirement!

Thanks you GP. For all the great years of Kings Basketball.

I know that the last few years have been largely due to the Maloofs interference and lack of funds.

I still have faith in you.

Good Luck in the Future.

Thank you, Geoff. take a year or two off then come back strong.

When are we going to see a 'good bye Smart' thread?

Thanks GP. I have no doubt that you still have it and can get back into exec of the year form. All the best with your future endevours

Thank you Geoff Petrie for, what many believe was the 2002 NBA Champions!

Thanks for helping to build some of the greatest sports memories I have as well as bringing in some of my favorite athletes of all time.

Best of luck to you in your future.

Thank you Geoff for assembling a team in early 2000 that give birth to fan like me who have stuck with this team through thick and thin.

Wish you all the best.

Thank you for trading JWill for Mike Bibby. While I was a big fan of JWill in the early going, it was clear that the team needed to take a step forward and the Bibby trade made them title contenders.

It's been a rough couple of years, but lets not forget Geoff Petrie was the architect that molded one of the greatest teams to ever play this game. Emphasis on TEAM. No other squad played team ball like we did. No cry baby superstars just a bunch of unselfish guys who understood the game. That was all Petrie. Thank you for everything. Like all our guys in 2002, you should have a championship under your belt.

I echo this!

I'll miss you, sitting in the tunnel through thick and thin. I could always raise my glasses and see you there. If you weren't I'd wonder what was up. Good luck in the future. I've enjoyed the ride. Thank you.

Thank you Geoff for everything!!! You, Rick, Coachie, and those unforgettable glory years teams were the reasons I became a Kings fan in the first place.

I hope you can somehow come back to this franchise (as a consultant) one day :)

+1

Thanks GP for the good. I only wish that you weren't handcuffed, like we all know you were, for so many years.

Good luck on your future endeavors!

I will forever be grateful for "the team you put together," that should have won it all. Those great years and some other good years gave me some of my greatest sports memories and I still love this team.

I hope you will always think fondly of Sacramento. I wish you all the best whatever direction you choose to go from here. May you, your wife and family, including your dogs, have a wonderful future together and the time to enjoy it.

Thanks GP for your efforts and putting together the best teams this franchise has seen in Sacramento. Thanks for drafting Cousins and Evans and leaving us in reasonable shape for the new GM to take over and make it work!

thanks Geoff! the last few years have been tough, but nothing will ever make anyone forget those glory days. good luck in all future endeavours.

Such a brilliant run in the late 90's/early 00's. Who knows what he could've done with owners with deep $ pockets in the last six years. JWill for Bibby will always be my favorite Petrie move, ballsy, against the grain, the right decision. Good luck, GP!
