The Light at the End of the Tunnel – Looking Ahead to the Draft

I'd be happy with Rose or Beasley, both have star potential and both are a big need for the team. Beasley kind of reminds me of Carmelo / Al Harrington mix only a better rebounder and shot blocker then both so he could play PF.
Rose is just freakishly athlethic, quick and efficient, he throws down some nasty dunks too if you look him up on youtube.
Either player would be sick to get and would bring that player that could change our franchise into contenders once again soon. Plus both just have some insane highlights and I would love to see those highlights in a Kings uniform!

I was talking more in terms of pure talent for the NBA rather than team needs. Take the team needs out of it and just rate the top 5 prospects in the draft? :)

It's hard to say, don't really know who for sure is going to be entering.

Rose
Mayo
Beasley
Batum
Love

There's no way at this time to know where we'll be picking. If its in the top three I definitely go after Rose or Beasley. I'm not sold yet on Mayo. I'll tell you though, I really like Love. He knows how to play the game. If you looking for a PF, he would be one who would come in with some basketball IQ and very good skills for the position. I wouldn't take him in the top five, but I would take him anywhere after that.

being a Kings fan the past few years has made me come to hate the "high basketball IQ and skilled big man" monikers. Why can't GP be interested in big men who the scouting report says "eat raw meat and small children" for once.

Nicolas Batum this is geoffs pick, Watch!!

Geoff loves this type of player, we are not going to be in the top five. we will be 6-12. I think geoff takes Batum. he could be a star. very raw. but a shooter. without artest. he will be our 3 for the future. I am calling it now WAIT AND SEE!

WATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

UGH. Please god no. We need a PG or PF. This is a draft filled with each. We have no need for a SF. If we leave a glaring hole at PG or PF for another year then that's just inexcusable.

I am serious! watch it happen! I mean if you cant get Beasley I say Love. if you cant get Rose or Mayo I say Bayless.

My thoughts(top five pick changes) Love or Bayless if we are picking 6-12.

geoffs pick Batum! WATCH.

Rose franchise player, Mayo Franchise player, Beasley Franchise player, even gordon. We are not lucky at even getting top five pick. When was the last high pick. Jason williams at 7. it sucks. we just are not lucky.

Seriously can anybody really say if we have a chance at either rose, mayo, beasley or gordon you would take either?

If we have a chance at them of course I would, why wouldn't I???

BTW if we don't get a top pick what does everyone think of Ty Lawson or Darren Collison?

Collision would be a solid choice for PG of the future. He's speedy and plays tough D. Not going to be a stud like Rose or maybe Mayo though.

And to add: Ideally, Geoff could turn Bibby and Artest into another top 10 or so pick. Then you get Beasley at #2 and Collison at #10 then it's off to the races with Collison, Martin, Garcia, Beasley and Hawes for the next 10 years.

I'd like to see that happen but not sure how.

Well, if you somehow turn Bibby and Artest into mid-to late first rounders, and maybe SAR into a second rounder... then come June after the lottery look for a team that has multiple holes and see if they'd like a package of a #15 and #22 and a second rounder or something for their #10 or #12 pick. Not impossible, but unlikely both from a realism standpoint and given that our front office has seemed to lose any knack for agressiveness that this plan would require.

his stats 18.0 | APG 5.0 | RPG 1.0

NBA Comparison: Gilbert Arenas

Strengths: In a word: special. Bayless combines incredible speed, quickness and athleticism with a high level of intelligence and composure ... Winners mentality ... He really excels on the offensive end of the floor with his scoring ability ... Has an extra gear blowing by defenders with ease, and needs just an inch of daylight to get his jumpshot off ... Excellent body strength for his age ... He understands how to create shots for himself and has incredible leaping ability ... Very strong offensively, great form on his shot ... Plays with a high level of intensity ... Good defender, team player. Has leadership ability ...

Weaknesses: Must become better at running the PG position ... More of a scoring point, but his PG abilities are improving ... Can be prone to trying to do too much, must be more patient and composed ... Still hasn't sustained himself as an elite level player for an extended period of time ...

Notes: Missed a good portion of his Sophomore season due to a broken wrist after coming down awkwardly on a dunk attempt ... Was considered one of the top overall players as a Junior at the 2005 Nike All America Camp.

nice thank you, he would be a great pickup. he is quick. 6'3" nice first step.

I wouldnt be mad if we fellout of the top 5 and picked him lower.

I don't want a combo guard. If they're a scoring PG I atleast want a slasher who can distribute the ball just as well like Lawson.

That would be amazing. I like Rose alot but a Beasley/Collison combo would be a win/win. The Knicks could be a team to get us another pick.
