The Kings are so bad.

This team will show improvement by the end of the season. We should be close to a .500 team by the end of the year. If you go through game by game and add up the number of games against teams we should beat and the teams who should beat us, we are at about 30 wins. 30 and 36 is not terrible. That is only 3 wins away from .500 and a definite improvement. I think we are better than New Jersey, Toronto, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Detroit, Charlotte, Washington, New Orleans, and Phoenix. We are about equal with Minnesota, GS, and Houston. We have had a brutal schedule to start this year but we have won both games against inferior teams plus the lucky win against the Lakers.

And for some historical comparison, we are in about the same place as Orlando, Portland, and OKC were in their rebuilds at a similar time, especially if you consider that Reke basically had a lost year last year with his injury. We will get better. We just have to be a little patient.

What's funny is when I posted the "FO/ownership has let us down" thread a little while ago, everyone wanted to tell me I was just whining. That a blew everything out of proportion. The number of posters who agreed that our FO and ownership did let us down, by not following through on their repeated promises, I can count on one hand.

The funny thing, is some of the same posters who thought I was just "whining" at the time, are doing nothing but whine up and down this forum presently, blaming the players they used to back all of a month ago, blaming Westy, blaming Petrie, who they let off the hook a month ago, because back then trying was good enough, and giving the Maloofs a pass for spending on Hayes and Outlaw, even though now it appears no one wants the Maloofs.

I didn't bother agreeeing with you on that thread because:
a) I'm sick of getting personally attacked and threatened for posting critical observations of the Kings
and
b) I said before the season started that KF's (including you) would be on here within the first weeks of the season, complaining vociferously about how bad this team is doing.

In the end it kind of was whining.

Dalembert didn't want to play for us. Kirilenko said no. Those were absolutely the right phone calls to make, but if the other side says no what are you going to do? Obviously the other defensive centers got priced into ridiculous ranges early, so there wasn't much to be done really. I didn't like the Hayes signing, but seen as well he's the only guy who is going to sign with us thing it was not terrible. He's a defensive roleplayer at least, even if he is too small.

The mistake that could have been avoided was the Beno for Salmons deal, which was really based around our evaluation of Jimmer's ability. If the front office whiffed on that one there's the mistake that is hurting us. But we'll have to give Jimmer more time before we call him a bust. the Hickson deal was a good move talentwise. My only concern on that one is if Petrie's normal overstuff of the rostr with too many competing guys might have deterred Dalembert from resigning for fear of loss of minutes. Ditto the retention of Westphal if that kept Daly away as well. But that's all speculative.

Magic, got the nickname Tragic Johnson at around the same age as Reke, because he couldn't shoot. By this rule of thumb, you would have given up on Nash, Stockton and Dirk, to name a few, as they weren't near developed at age 22.

Sorry...couldn't let this one go, but when Magic was Tyreke's age he was already an NBA Finals MVP.
